I have only been here three times over the last 14 months and only taken food to go, but every dish I had was spectacular. From the chicken vindaloo to the tikka masala to the chicken Kundapur. All very tasty and the portions were fair. My goal is still to find a dish with more vegetables in it. We eat at NH44 fairly regularly. It's our go-to Indian. This is a really great spot for both what's typical and some dishes you normally don't get at other Indian places nearby. We love the variety. The Kung Fu Gobi is outstanding, and this evening's Lamb Korma was exceptional. We've probably eaten half of the items on their menu since we first started coming here shortly after they opened. Everything is consistently very good. Expect to pay about $50 to $60 pp (including gratuity) for a filling dinner with cocktails and/or beer. read more

I came here with my nephew and we were not disappointed! Food was excellent, cute and cozy interior, definitely a great little neighborhood spot. We had the onion pakoras, chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. The saag was not my favorite, but it was still tasty. Everything else we absolutely loved. Fabulous spot for good Indian food. The vibe is authentic. When you walk in, you can smell the curry in the air. It reminds me of Murray Hill in the city where there are Indian spots everywhere and the smell of fresh curry lingers in the air. I love that smell. NH44 is the national highway of India going from north to southeast. I love places where the name has a deeper meaning. The Chicken Tikka Masala is really good. It comes out really hot and stays hot. It's full of flavor. Highly recommend. 9/10 The Lamb Jalfrezi was excellent. I liked it even better than the tikka masala. 10/10 The Rogan Josh was pretty good and had a nice kick to it. Disappointing food and flavors I ordered via UberEats and got the kungfu gobi, the paneer tikka masala, a laccha parantha, and an onion naan Let's start with the pros - The food came well packaged and therefore still warm - The portion sizes were decent and they were generous with the amount of paneer in the paneer tikka masala Now on to the cons - the food was awful in flavor. The gobi was extremely sweet and almost syrupy when it came to the sauce it was coated in - The paneer tasted like Shaan masala right out of the masala packet. The flavors had not been cooked or developed at all. I almost felt sick after a while (no food quality issues; just the yuckiness) - The laccha parantha wasn't a parantha at all. It was a laccha tandoori roti as you can see from the picture - The onion naan was fine. A bit burned in the middle but that happens with the tandoor occasionally Overall, a very disappointing experience. I picked this place over other local options due to the high rating. This is a really great Indian restaurant with high quality food, amazing flavors and really attentive staff in a really colorful, nice space. We ordered several appetizers and a few entrees and they were all great- they don't skimp on the flavors or the spice! The Kundapur Chicken- with its abundance of flavor (curry leaves! Mustard seeds!) was a highlight. But don't skip on the raita, mango chutney or onion chili- all their sauces are fresh and a great addition to the meal. Had dinner here for the first time last night and I'll start by saying the service was impeccable and the folks that work there are so kind and friendly. We each had a different glass of wine, all happy with our choices, then ordered an array of mostly vegetarian dishes. I loved the paneer main and the samosa chaat and then the black lentils...so good. Really everything was, I also really loved the serving dishes. Dessert time came and I mentioned I'm always too full so I've never tried any and out server brought out a small dessert for us to just try and that touch was really so sweet (literally, and delicious). Love this place. First, the ambiance is little dive-ish. Yeah it's a cool name--sort of like Route 66 or I95 in the US... The interior also is a little less pleasant than a rest stop on any of those roads. Poor acoustics, cheap tables and uncomfortable chairs...but good lighting. Don't dress up in your favorite duds, you'll be way out of place. The service was awesome each time I went, I only had to get out of my seat once to fetch my waiter. I've gone back three times. Food is delicious all around with a limited. As as appetizer you must get the cauliflower--it's served general Tso style and is so good it could stop traffic, silence arguing spouses, or convert bad dates to good ones. The coconut rice is a showstopper--portion is about 2 cups --and delicious. I got the tandoori chicken which was moist and plentiful and spiced perfectly--yum. I also got the chicken Marsala and it was perfectly spiced and the portion was about 1.5 cups. The chickpeas were another home run and drenched in somewhat spicy but toothsome sauce, If it wasn't for the dreary and dismal interior this would be a five star. :-) read more

The service feels personal and professional at the same time. Now for the food: maybe the best chicken tikka masala my daughter and I ever had. For starters, we had my favorite Indian vegetable dish of fried cauliflower with a Chinese inspired spicy sauce. Its name here: Kung Fu Cauliflower (or maybe Kung Fu Gobi). It's also known as Gobi Manchurian. All I can say is, if you like Chinese food too, you'll probably love this dish - especially here, where it's prepared and presented so perfectly and better than I've ever had. Went for dinner with my father and had a solid meal. The two appetizers we ordered- Jinga Malai Marke (grilled jumbo shrimp) and the Kungfu Gobi (spicy cauliflower) were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The shrimp was in a spicy dry rub and the cauliflower seemed to be pan seared and in a spicy garlic sauce that was super tasty. We ordered the chicken tikka masala to share as an entree (came with basmati rice) and we of course had to get a side of garlic naan. The naan was buttery, garlicky, and tasted delicious when dipped in the tikka masala sauce. The tikka masala sauce was creamy, a little spicy, and filled with flavor, however one thing we noticed is that the chicken was a little dry on its own. We have eaten here since the first week they opened. They had authentic, flavorful Indian food. Yesterday was such a disappointment because they changed the flavors - to my guess - cater to non Indian clients. Everything was SWEET. Like the mint chutney tasted like sugar syrup. Their logic was that they wanted less spicy food options in menu. Less spicy doesn't mean you turn mint chutney to sugar syrup. I called to place a pick up order and the guy taking my order kept putting me on hold. When he returned, we started over. Again and again. I should have listened to my gut and hung up. Not as good as some of the other places I drive to in Greenwich or Stamford, but the taste was good. Unfortunately this was a one off experience. The place wasn't busy and I still don't understand why it took 15 minutes to order. Price was too high for what we received. My wife and I dined here a couple of weeks ago. We loved the food and the service. We had their shrimp skewer appetizer and for our main course, I had their stewed goat and my wife had the chicken tiki masala. Both of our dishes were delicious. We also had their naan bread which was so good. Our server is as wonderful and kind and always made sure that my beer was cold. You can't beat that . The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so I recommend you go before 6pm as it will get crowded after that. Took my girl out to try Indian food for the first time, this spot was new to us. First off, we loved the interior, the tables were set nicely and the artwork on the walls tells about the culture. First time trying it based on friends' reccos but we didn't have a good customer service experience. First, they say they are open until 10 on Saturday. We were going to be there at 9:20pm. I called ahead and asked the "person" on the phone when they take their last order. They said 9:45pm. I then asked if they would serve us at 9:20. They said yes. We get there at 9:20 and are told that their kitchen for dine in is closed. Only takeout possible. Very disappointed. When I asked about the phone call, the maître d' said that was an automated response. Ok, fine but why code the bot to provide incorrect information? We drove half an hour in the snow to be there "in time". What was even more annoying is that he refused to acknowledge that's a problem they need to fix "that's automated, we can't do anything"... Second, we asked if we could sit at the table while waiting (two adults, two children). We weren't allowed to. The maître d' said they'd already wiped down tables and we could sit at the bistro tables by the entrance. Third, we ordered saag and then immediately asked to add paneer to it - "saag paneer". We were charged extra for the paneer. When the take out bag came out, the receipt said "saag". My husband asked the maître d' and also the server to confirm there is also paneer in the dish. Both said there was. We get home and no paneer. We called them and got the response that the restaurant was closed. This was last night. We've called them at least 3-4 times today and left messages and got no response. Very poor customer service. The food was not bad (the saag was bland and the lakhs paratha was too thick and chewy and almost burnt; tandoori chicken was dry, butter chicken was ok, lamb tikka was ok) but the way they handled us left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

"Bi" our waiter was most welcoming and informative and he explained what dishes would best suit our palates (spicy and rich sauces).
