We ordered Biryani and the Chicken Tandoori and it was truly an Indian food. I have multiple friends who are from India (Kerala, Bangalore/Bengaluru and Orisa) who I have tried their dishes and these remind me of my friend from Kerala. For the last several years, we have made Indian buffet a tradition for lunch in the office because we get a half day off for either Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. The bunch of us that choose the same day will head over to Royal Palace to enjoy the AYCE buffet. In years past, the food has been better with more variety that included lamb & goat dishes and more vegetables served on a couple of buffet islands. This time, food is served in several covered chafing dishes on long tables and choices were more limited and the only protein is chicken in 4 dishes. 2 dishes lean more toward Chinese cuisine. The butter chicken is usually pretty good, especially over basmati rice. Run back to the buffet tables if you see the tandoori chicken being brought out from the kitchen. It's worth it. The best is when they bring the fresh onion and garlic naan basket to your table straight out of the tandoor oven. That hot flat bread is incredible. I came here for the lunch buffet. They had a variety of chicken and vegetarian dishes. Most of the dishes are very mild and not spicy at all which is what I think what the goal was. I think the quality of the food has declined a bit over the last several years and it's definitely gotten more expensive but it is still a great option in the area. They have a lunch buffet that is pretty popular but we usually go for a la carte takeout. I enjoy their paneer tikka masala but always wish it was a bit spicier. The service was great, waitstaff was attentive and friendly. We ordered veg samosas, Navrattan korma, veg Manchurian, aloo gobhi, garlic naan bread, chai, and gulab jamun. Veg samosas - Were absolutely delicious! Probably the best thing we had. Flavorful and doughy with a little spice. Navrattan korma- Not as flavorful as other kormas, just ok. Also had paneer cubes, which isn't typical to other veg kormas we've had, but a nice addition! Veg Manchurian - This was just ok. The sauce was rich, but overwhelming. Aloo gobhi - Unfortunately, we didn't really like this. Lacked sauce, lacked flavor, and was very greasy. Chai - delicious, not sweet and paired well with dessert. Gulab jamun - yummy with a mug of chai, a nice treat. Overall the experience was between ok and good. We love the Saturday lunch buffet at Royal Palace. The full spread with so many varieties of veg and non-veg selections is delicious and amazing. Everything from the Madras Chai to the desserts and excellent. The service from the Staff is very friendly and thoughtful. The decor is beautiful and is always changing with style and flair. We arrived at 12pm on a Sunday which was fortunate as we were one of only four tables - but by 1.30pm all tables were full and a line building up at the buffet stations. There's an event hall, off to the right with dining tables and chairs. Off to the left of the restaurant, is the main dining area. The aroma swirling in the air, is like no other the minute I went in. I asked a few questions especially if any of their dishes were cooked with either mustard, seeds or powder and glad they didn't. Lunch Buffet is offered everyday, and happened to be in the right place- at the right time. The server broke it down for me tray by tray. There were so many dishes and everything looked tasty. So here's the rundown: Started with a green salad, and a Masala Dosa served with a spicy Sambal sauce and Coconut chutney dip. That chutney dip was so hot- I was tearing- but it was so good. Had the Masala Dosa filled with lentils and potatoes and good. Decided on a Veggie Samosa, Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Rice, Garlic Naan, Bhindi Masala- which was a nice okra dish with other veggies and tofu with a yogurt sauce. At this point, I'm so full. To put the cherry on top, I had a Mango Lassi. This was the moment I was waiting for. It was awesome! I had so much to eat for lunch and so much left over, I actually made a doggie bag. Went last night with the husband and another couple. We had a groupon for 4, and things worked out quite well. The groupon gave us 2 appetizers, 2 orders of naan, 4 entrees and 4 glasses of wine. We started with meat samosas and aloo tikka, both of which were delicious. There were 4 pieces of each, so we were all able to try it without having to share. For dinner I had lamb rogan josh, and my husband had lamb saag. For some reason, his lamb was tough, while mine was tender. That was our one minor disappointment. The other couple had chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. Both were really great. They served everything with a large helping of rice and our orders of bread - naan and paratha - were exceptionally large. We finished up with tea for everyone. One person had dessert, some mango ice cream, but I don't think it was what he expected. Service was good but not great - twice they forgot something minor for the 4th person, so we joked that the guy could only remember 3 things at a time. The food was very good but not exceptional. I'm a huge fan on Indian food and I've had better in NJ (Jersey City, Edison, East Brunswick, etc) and in Rockland County. I'm not complaining, though, it was good and I'm glad I tried it. I've passed the place a million times when visiting a friend who lives near there, and never stopped in before. I was intrigued by their party room, it's huge! For a place in a strip mall it's pretty impressive. Best Indian food in Westchester - kitchen staff consists of ALL Northern Indian chefs who are very well versed in the cuisine. Buffet is wonderful. Looking down a bit at "Linda" from White Plains - is she delusional? First of all, what is a "reap off" and "lam" refers to someone running from the law, not LAMB as in the animal. She claims the only choices are salad and one vegetable - seriously? The menu is VERY extensive with many, many choices both vegetarian and not.
