I was really excited for this place but I didn't love the food. The service also wasn't great and even though we had a reservation, they were really busy when we arrived so they made us sit in the back where they have really low tables and pillows on the floor for you to sit on. Needless to say the whole evening was really uncomfortable. I saw they're opening a location in Wynwood and will definitely give it a try, tho!

We made a reservation here. The ambiance and vibe are super cool. My bf and I shared the beef tataki, beef curry, and the flan. The beef tataki was quite good, and the beef was pretty tender. The beef curry had a good flavor (although my bf didn't think it had a strong enough flavor). Some of the beef could have been more tender. The flan was interesting to try. I don't usually like flan, but the texture of this one was pretty good. I liked the Asian influence with the black sesame crisp on top. Expensive for what you get, but it's a unique place

Visiting from Los Angeles and we enjoyed this delicious Michelin rated restaurant. We especially enjoyed the fried rice, beef tartare and two desserts to share with friends. The staff was very attentive and friendly . Loved the ambiance too! If you're in Palermo Buenos Aires, this place is a must.

Great ambiance except the low chairs with no backs are hard to sit in. Long lines so go right when they open. Best steaks we had through oit our 1 wks trip. Meat was extremely tender! Best steak around

Enjoying the beautiful ambience, I sat in the octopus room

This must be one of the top five restaurants of the world that I've tried. It is amazing. I tried the spicy fried rice with shrimp and calamari. It was so delicious. I also added the fish of the day and an amazing sticky rice with mango. I highly recommend that if you have a chance, the opportunity to make it into this restaurant, you must reservations are highly recommended as it has a Michelin, Star, and people are always lined up outside.

I visited Niño Gordo about a month ago and have been meaning to post this review ever since! The food was absolutely incredible--creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. One thing to keep in mind is that Argentina has a more relaxed approach to service compared to the U.S., which might feel a little unusual if you're used to quick-paced dining. That said, it gave me the chance to soak in the amazing atmosphere and enjoy the experience fully. Better late than never to share how much I recommend this spot--Niño Gordo is a must-try!

This is the place to try when visiting Buenos Aires! WOW! I found it online listed as the city's best Fusion Asian restaurant and they are not lying. Make sure to reserve a table online. It's super popular, and attempting a spontaneous walk-in could be close to impossible. They've got both outdoor and indoor seating options. Our waitress was super friendly and she gave us some great recommendations. The food and drinks did not take long to arrive after ordering. For drinks, we tried the blanquito and the fucking sorrell cocktails, both of which were nice and refreshing. We went a bit overboard with the ordering since we wanted to try a bit of everything. I'd recommend sticking to a maximum of 3 dishes and 1 dessert because the portions were surprisingly generous. All the dishes are meant to be shared. Our food order: Gírgolas - absolutely amazing! Definitely would order again. Tataki de bife - delicious, 5 stars! Katsusando - really good! Arroz frito picante - 5 stars (huge portion) Bife de chorizo - super nice and tender Dessert: blanco y negro - a light flavourful dessert The inside of the restaurant has a funky look, with red lights all around. It adds to the vibe but makes it a bit tricky to take good pictures since everything comes out looking red. Overall, this place is definitely worth the hype!

I was in Argentina visiting family and friends and 6 months before arriving and planning my trip I knew I HAD to visit Nino Gordo an try the amazing dishes everyone had told me about. We made a reservation and sat at the Patio wich I absolutely loved and felt it was awesome. The ambiance at the restaurant is top-notch honestly, wherever you sit you'll have a different experience. Now let's take a minute for their food. Let me just Say WOW!!! Amazing things I tried. I still dream about some of The flavors and just salivate every time I think of the mollejas, the sando. I will Definitely make it a must-stop from now on every time I'm back in Buenos Aires

    Cute drinks!

Amazing fusion food. Such a vibe, get a reservation and be ready to share and try things together. Great drinks. Absolutely must eat!

Each dish was so unique and delicious. Asian fusion food, small menu where each item is done right. Niño Gordo is more expensive and crowded than other restaurants in Buenos Aires, but definitely worth it. Nice ambiance as well

The atmosphere is amazing. So very cool if you can sit at the bar! The covid protocols are lacking. For sure too many people inside. So if full sit outside. Reservations are a must. Food is good. Tons of flavor. Least favorite was the Takiaki. Raw beef with rice and Ponzo sauce. Very sweet and the rice was not good. Bao buns are heavenly as was the rice and Japanese pancake. Good attention to detail and beautiful presentation

The hot new property from the guys behind La Carniceria and Chori, both pretty damned successful and popular (I have to go back and retry the latter, I wasn't that impressed but everyone tells me I'm wrong), who decided to take on the world of Asian street food. But not done as street food, reimagined as semi-fine dining. It's also getting written up as the most Instagrammable restaurant around - and the main dining room is filled with Asian trinkets and weird lighting and yeah, people taking photos. In fact, they're playing it up, and although people have to wait outside for a table, they're letting in people who just want to take photos and go, which happened numerous times during the dinner. There's also a long bar at the kitchen, which for me is far more Instagrammable than the dining room. Short menu of a dozen interesting sounding dishes.... Really creative specialty cocktail menu, and cute presentations. This Genma Saotome is a blend of Jimador tequila, passionfruit, smoked ají amarillo chili, sugar syrup. It was supposed to be decorated with a dehydrated slice of dragon fruit, though that looks an awful lot like a slice of dehydrated orange to me. Delicious either way. 200 pesos. Ostensibly this is small plate food meant for sharing. I'd put it as more of medium plate food - so there really is enough to share. But I was solo, so this meant only getting in two plates on this visit. You don't get a lot of clues from the menu. This dish just says: Langostino - Panceta - Coliflór - Coco, or Prawn - Bacon - Cauliflower - Coconut. Turns out to be coconut and spice crusted head-on large prawns, cooked over searingly high heat in a cast iron pan, served over blocks of melt-in-your-mouth glazed pork belly, and a cauliflower puree. Surf and turf taken to a whole new level. 350 pesos and worth every peso. The same can be said of the Molleja - Chili - Miso - Choclo - Akusai - Cilantro, or Sweetbread - Chili - Miso - Corn - Napa Cabbage - Cilantro. This turns out to be miso and chili laquered crispy sweetbreads served over charred corn, with a shaved cabbage salad and a cilantro mayo. And every exquisite bite worth the 395 pesos they charge for it. My guess is this place is going to become a regular spot to go and hangout for me.

Don Julio Parrilla - The Meal That Changed My Mind About Buenos Aires…read moreAfter spending a week in Buenos Aires, my hotel concierge had secured reservations at five of the city's hottest restaurants & trendy spots, Michelin-recognized destinations, and some of Argentina's highest-rated dining experiences. Unfortunately, the first two nights were disappointing. I started wondering if the legendary reputation of Argentine beef was simply an illusion. Perhaps the quality of the meat was exceptional, but the execution wasn't. Then came Don Julio. Our reservation was for 9:30 p.m. at one of the hardest restaurants in the city to book, and within minutes of arriving, every negative thought I'd had about dining in Buenos Aires disappeared. Guests waiting outside were welcomed with complimentary Prosecco and warm empanadas while tables were prepared. We stepped aside to take a few photos and struck up a conversation with a friendly couple from New Jersey. Like us, they admitted they hadn't been blown away by the city's food scene, until Don Julio. We were seated at a cozy table with a clear view of the chefs expertly preparing and carving beautiful cuts of beef. The atmosphere reminded me of Pastis in New York... classic, lively, elegant, yet relaxed, like a charming Parisian bistro. The Wine & Starters We began with a bottle of Balbo red wine, smooth and velvety without heavy tannins. Fresh bread arrived with rock salt, spicy olive tapenade, and a bright pico de gallo that was unforgettable. The menu was refreshingly simple: exceptional ingredients, no unnecessary theatrics. Endive & Shaved Walnut Salad - 30/10 I never expected an endive salad to be memorable, but this one was extraordinary. The leaves were buttery and tender, perfectly dressed, with shaved walnuts adding texture and balance. Midway through the meal, my boyfriend said, "Now this is a dish you can't replicate." I replied, "Challenge accepted." Creamy Mashed Potatoes with Jersey Butter - 10/10 As a self-proclaimed mashed potato connoisseur, I can honestly say these were among the best I've ever tasted silky, buttery, rich, and luxurious without feeling heavy. Grilled Cauliflower - 4/10 Well prepared, lightly charred, and served over a smooth purée, but after the incredible salad, it simply couldn't compete. The Star: Bone-In Ribeye for Two - 100/10 After several disappointing steaks earlier in our trip, we learned that ordering medium-rare in Argentina often resulted in something closer to medium-well. This time, my boyfriend ordered the steak rare with a charred crust, and our waiter understood perfectly. What arrived was one of the greatest steaks I've ever eaten: tender, juicy, perfectly pink, and incredibly flavorful. I've dined at some of the world's most celebrated steakhouses, and this ribeye belongs in that conversation. Halfway through dinner, I leaned over and whispered, "Has our entire trip to Argentina just changed because of this restaurant?" Three of our four dishes were phenomenal. This wasn't just the best meal of our trip--it may have been one of the best meals I've ever had. Dessert - 9/10 Skipping dessert was never an option. We ordered crêpes with dulce de leche, finished with a crisp brûléed top and served with rich Jersey milk ice cream. Our waiter also surprised us with a complimentary serving of dulce de leche cream, one of my favorite bites of the evening. Service - The service at Don Julio deserves a standing ovation. Our waiter was warm, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly professional. When I dropped my fork, another appeared instantly. Every time someone left the table, a fresh napkin awaited their return. Wine glasses never sat empty, and the maître d' checked in without ever interrupting the flow of the evening. Every detail was noticed. Nothing was overlooked. It's the kind of hospitality that makes you feel genuinely cared for rather than simply served. Final Thoughts Don Julio completely changed my opinion of Buenos Aires' dining scene. After several disappointing meals, this restaurant reminded me why Argentina has earned its world-famous culinary reputation. Outstanding food. Impeccable service. A warm, energetic atmosphere. An unforgettable experience from beginning to end. If you're planning a trip to Buenos Aires, make your reservation at Don Julio as early as possible. Trust me...it's worth every bit of the hype

One of the most well known parrillas in all of Argentina and currently maintains one Michelin star…read more It's quite busy and very hard to get a reservation. I check a couple weeks out for any night of the week and only was able to find outside tables online. I came here on a Wednesday night around 10:30 in hopes of getting it less busy than a weekend night. I only had to wait about 15 minutes and also got a free glass of champagne and a mini empanda. As I came in they offered me a tour of the wine cellar which was full of unique and old wines. They have a massive wine offering which I think is one of the things that helps them out on the Michelin guide. It's a classic steakhouse offering, probably best approached by sharing a few cuts with a table. But as I was here by myself I went for the tasting menu so I could try more things. They brought over some bread to start with chimichurri, as well as an odd amuse bouche of a single endive leaf with a pretty bland green sauce. The first course started off with a thinly slice of beef kinda like jerky meets prosciutto. Very flavorful and tender, loved it. Second course was a sausage that was incredibly juicy and exploding with flavor, one of the best sausages I've ever had. Then came a sweetbread course which I've never had before. It was very unctuous and rich, bit too heavy for my taste and sort of made me want to stop eating at this point. It came with a very basic salad with simple vinaigrette. The next two courses were a ribeye broken into two components, the eye and the rib cap. The eye came with another equally bland salad. The cap came with a table side preparation of a sweet potato which was honestly quite comical. Fine dining is known for beautiful table side prep, but scooping out the inside of a sweet potato and spooning over melted butter is amusingly basic. With no other seasoning here but salt it was again, very bland. Steak was fantastic and juicy, a bit on the rarer side than I would normally go for but I think this is never given the unique leaner quality of Argentine beef. Chimichurri was classic, oddly I was offered a spicy chimichurri half way through my meal which I preferred, unsure why it wasn't brought sooner. Bread courses were very standard, again nothing spectacular here. The sommelier helped me pick out a couple glasses of wine and was generally very helpful and attentive. The wine I had was solid but nothing crazy, elected for some of the cheaper choices since this was the most expensive meal I had in all of Argentina. Pumpkin ice cream was nice though oddly lacking in sweetness for a country that seems to take many things very sweet. Overall, this is such a classic and well known place that I felt it would be wrong not to check it out, yet I had heard there are better places at cheaper price points and I would now say that is very true. The beef quality here is fantastic and prepared well. Staff is attentive and helpful. But this really just doesn't present a fine dining experience as you might expect for a Michelin star. It feels like it fits more into the bib gourmand category. And at this price point it's really hard to feel like the price is justified. I dined at other places for way less including another Michelin star that was a true fine dining experience for a little over half the price. Much more courses with each element thoroughly thought out. The bland salads and side elements here don't detract away from the meat but they don't bring anything else to the table either. They feel like they exist to be a line item on a menu and nothing more. While I'm glad I got to try this place out, I likely wouldn't come back. There are less busy places with just as good of steaks for much lower the cost.

The portions here are massive. And that's coming from someone who can usually put away a pretty serious steak. Here, though It's a lot even for me. Was it good Absolutely. But a little heads-up if you're visiting: learn how Argentinians order their meat. If you ask for jugoso, it'll land somewhere between rare and medium rare. Al punto is closer to medium, sometimes even leaning toward medium well depending on the kitchen. And well done. Honestly... don't even think about it. Another tip: don't rush to order sides. Unless you're just getting a salad or you're sharing with more than two people, one plate is usually more than enough. Around here, they believe in feeding you properly and they definitely deliver.
