Reviewing towns and cities seems a little weird. Making suggestions for where to go and what to do…read moreseems less weird, so here's my recommendations for locals and visitors alike. You can enjoy good food year round. Mark's and Wilson's Pizza serve great pizza and wings. China King has better takeout than similar places, including those in other states. Cafora's serves Italian food and local wines. Bill's is a solid diner. I recommend the fish fry when it's in season. Sweet Source Bakeshop has amazing baked goods, especially cinnamon rolls. Gordy's has tasty fresh bread. You can also head north to Olcott for seafood at Mariner's Landing, or pub food at the Lighthouse Grill. The best time to visit Olcott is from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There's a charming little carousel park with 25 cent rides. The beach conditions are as variable as any other in WNY. Krull Park has a great playground and splash pad. The Lakeview Village Shoppes has a variety of shops selling everything from gifts and candy to crystals and antiques. They host a lot of events, including trick-or-treating before the season ends in the fall. Bye's Popcorn is a mainstay. The newly renovated Ye Olde Cabin is a great venue for visiting Santa in the winter, but it's only a one day event so you'll want to watch for announcements and plan accordingly. Newfane and Olcott are right in the middle of the Niagara Wine Trail. Chateau Niagara and Black Willow Winery are excellent. Schultz is nearby, as well, albeit in a different town. It's a small town but worth visiting, especially in the summer.

I used to live right around here (in East Buffalo, but minutes from Cheektowaga), so I had my share of run-ins. But one instance was worse than all the others. We were treated like the most wanted criminals just because of expired stickers that my gf forgot all about. So, the Cheektowaga police pulled me and my girlfriend over, and she was a few days past her inspection sticker, or was it registration - I forget. You would expect that she'd get a ticket, right? She didn't. The car was towed. I had to walk home. She was put in jail. She was bailed out by her brother hours later because I didn't have the money to bail her out.. It cost her a massive amount of money. She had to get the car out of the impound. She is a bill-paying tax-paying good girl who occasionally forgets to pay x or y, and then remembers when they remind her. She isn't very good at staying on top of things, so to speak ;) What I'm saying is, that's what the Cheektowaga Police are spending your money on. And that's what they do to make money. This was a few years ago, perhaps things are better now? I wouldn't bet on it. Ugly way of doing things. No wonder a lot of people don't like them. I've had many great experiences with the Buffalo PD. Amherst PD not so much. Clarence PD absolutely not. UB PD the absolute worst... but Cheektowaga, not too far off. One star.

Its a new building (largely paid for by parking/speeding tickets no doubt) on Union, with a fabulous parking situation. The Court and Police are in the same driveway, but the signs indicated the police may be in a different building, I'm not sure. we were there for the court. You walk into the building and there is a (no joke) armed guard, and a scanner for your purse, briefcase whatever and you walk through a metal detector. Seriously? Little high tech for a small court house? Nevermind paranoid? Just sayin'. * Here's where the three stars comes in * But, while you are emptying pockets and putting purses into the scanner, someone else just walks right through, scanner goes off, and the guard does nothing. Now I get he may know the guy, but why on earth would he just let him walk through in front of a short line of people, set off the scanner and not blink? I assume it was an attorney (it was not a policeman in uniform), and I assume he was not carrying a gun, perhaps only his keys, but I don't really care how much you go in and out in a day, you should set an example to the rest by doing it the right way. You are after-all, an officer of the court. If this man was not some sort of officer of the court then I really don't know what to say. If you are going to bother with the time, expense and hassle of the system, then at least make it consistent and frankly, "SAFE FOR ALL". But once inside, this would go back to 4 stars, the lines were very short, they were fast and the people behind the bullet proof glass were pleasant enough. No issues there, they also provide a receipt without prompting etc. Leaving was much easier than going in, there is a different door to exit through. Overall I admire the police and law enforcement in general, I understand gun laws and generally support these types of organizations, in thought and pocketbook. But this experience really left me uncomfortable, I would not want to sit jury in a courthouse where not everyone got the same level of scrutiny as I did.

This review is for anyone coming here to get their COVID vaccine…read more It's is very organized and structured here! Which I love! Police have blocked off a section for us to park. Attendants will guide you. You will enter the building and immediately get your temp checked and answer a couple standard COVID questions. Next, you'll approach an area to check in with your name. They will send you over to the next section where they'll confirm your information and give you info about the vaccine you're receiving. Now, you'll go to another section to get your vaccine. One nurse will be at a laptop and ask you a couple of questions, while another nurse administers the vaccine. They'll give it to you in the less dominant arm. I'm right handed so they gave it to me in the left arm. The feeling for me was similar to a flu shot where its sort of like a punch to the arm and some lingering pain afterwards which is just more annoying than anything. Lastly, you'll be sent to a waiting area to wait 15 mins. There is a digital clock on the wall. Social distancing was kept the whole time. Great job!

The town of Lancaster is actually huge, covering a big chunk of Western NY below Clarence, to the East of Depew and Cheekgtowaga. Its police force are absolutely awful, stopping you for anything and everything (even things you didn't do) to make revenue for the town. It contains the Village Of Lancaster, which is a cute and much smaller little place. When you're out in Lancaster, try eating at Good Tymes South, they have excellent burgers, and the Yelling Goat has some great Ethiopian Wings and all of their food is downright excellent. They have pretty tall people too, which is probably why it's known as Lankycaster.

The main attraction is the Main Street area that runs a little under a mile. Here you will find beautiful boutique hotels, a farmers market, cafes, small shops and amazing restaurants. I approached the desk and asked the women where I could find one. They looked at me like I was crazy and said "we don't have that, I don't even know what that is" I opened their resource binder to show them that they did in fact have the cd drive. They followed it up by looking in their system and saying "well it's lost". They were not very friendly during this interaction and I'm disappointed with their lack of knowledge. This is a fine basic library if you want to hop on a computer quickly or checkout a book, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than that. Kind of disappointing because I've been to some great, helpful, friendly libraries and the Kenmore location fell short.

I've been going to the Kenmore Library since I was an infant and I have loved it for as long as I…read morecan remember. Even though I haven't lived in Kenmore in nearly a decade, I still find myself visiting this library whenever I'm home seeing family. During my most recent visit, I actually stopped by twice to use the computers for some business I needed to take care of as I hadn't brought my laptop with me. While I still maintain my Buffalo & Erie County Public Library Card, I did not have it with me. Not too worry though as the librarians were so kind to set me up with a temporary/guest pass to use the computers. During previous visits I've used the glass rooms/study areas to really focus as they are a bit more private and definitely reduce noise (not that it's a noisy library). The book selection is decent and I'm honestly so impressed by the number and variety of classes, workshops, and programs this library hosts. It is such a hub for learning, creativity, and community!!! Five stars!!! Libraries are so magical and this one is especially near and dear to my heart :)
