Located on cobbled streets, within the atmospheric Distillery District area (a throw back representing Toronto's unique heritage and industrial development) the authentic facade of SoYD is far from nondescript but is instead faithful to its origins and blends in with the traditional surroundings. However please make time to stop and enter. The interior offers both a modern style juxtaposed with the hard-work brick fabric of a bygone era. Providing you with a comfortable, clean and stylish welcome. As an active distillery it is possible to wall around the interior whilst observing both the ongoing day to day process of liquor production and the wonderful range of in-house distilled and bottled produce. The menu offers a small but temptingly interesting range of starters, light meals and mains, together with beers, wines and spirits) many of which have been produced by SoYD. Our olives were fresh and zesty bringing the sunshine of their origin to a cold May day. The lobster brioche were light and delicious with the sweetness of the meat and wonderful fresh bun balanced by a flavourful slaw. We then enjoyed a vibrantly zingy endive salad with tangy blue cheese and a subtly brilliant honey mustard vinaigrette which brought the dish together beautifully. We ended our dinning experience with freshly fried rhubarb timbits, a bite and a half sized crispy shell encasing a light doughnut and tart but delicious rhubarb filling. SoYD has a great selection of wines, my glamorous partner enjoyed their Almanac White wine and I loved my Avling hazy IPA. We then enjoyed three sample glasses brought to us courtesy of Ray, the gamay was particularly good. To finish my partner had their own pint of Avling and I had a whiskey flight comprised of three in-house distilled glasses; vodka, a whiskey ( very good with warm spices, caramel, and touches of vanilla) and a delicious Ancho liqueur (chilies, blend of spices, a touch of natural sweetness and possessing an aroma reminiscent of liquorice root and tonka bean) Our host Ray was most friendly, welcoming and most generous with his time, taking great interest in us, our experiences in visiting Toronto, SoYD and on life and food and drink in general. By the time we had finished we felt like we had been to a friend's for a meal. A most wonderful and well prepared meal. Definitely an experience worth sharing and repeating. One to remember fondly.

Bottles on display. Wood even some colored velvety-type chairs. Playing mellow music tied it all in. Lowlights: - We just ate so didn't get to try any of the food

If visiting Niagara on the Lake which is only 15/20 mins from Lincoln/St. Catherine's Jordan and downtown Niagara come out and support the locals and CLEAN made spirits. Since it…read morewas the holiday season, I gave them some grace and knew that the shipment would probably take longer than the 1-3 business days that the website states. No big deal, I'm a patient person. Once it hit 10 business days and still no email regarding it being shipped, I sent a quick email. No response. So a few days later, I sent a message through their website. No response. Another email a couple of days later. No response. Finally I call them and am told that Daniel will call me back... I get an email that basically states "Sorry for the delay, I refunded your shipping, it will go out Friday thing Monday morning.". (Huh?! Oof). Again, no tracking number, no contact, no product. I emailed again to ask for a tracking number. No response. It's a month later, and no product. I call again, get a lady who says she will talk to Daniel and call me back. To her credit, she calls me back that day. She says it will be sent Monday, with express shipping, and I should have it by Wednesday. (Ontario to Alberta - doubtful). I ask her to send me a tracking number and she says she will personally call me on Monday with it. Well, you can guess what happened at this point. No call, no email, no product. Now I'm REALLY fed up (like I said, I'm patient, but over a month of getting the run around has finally worn it thin), and why won't the guy in charge even bother to speak with me?! I call back, speak with her again, she says they had three packages returned to them and mine was among them. That makes no sense at all to me, I'd sure like to see what the (non-existent) tracking said on all three of those. She says Daniel will sort it out. NOTHING. We're now into February. I call back, speak to the first gentleman again, he assures me that Daniel will contact me. Righhhht. I wait another week before one more phone call that went unanswered during business hours - they probably have call display. LOL. My next call was to Visa to dispute the charge. The next day I get an email with a short apology stating that he will refund me. No explanation as to why they haven't sent it. Over a week later, on Feb.13th, I finally received a refund. I don't even know if he provided it, or if Visa did... My bet is on Visa. What a joke of a business. Get your act together!

They ended up pouring a full pour (due to distraction) and I felt bad, so I paid for it & drank it anyway. (I suffered for it the rest of the evening, but that was my own fault, not the bartender.) I liked that the bathrooms are labeled all-gender and there seemed to be a decent amount of space in the back for events. I enjoyed one drink and left. I'd go back for an event or if the menu options piqued my interest. Seems to also be a convenient location for drinks before/after an event at the arena. Sorry for no photos this time.

The place is very quiet and comfortable with plenty of seating areas inside and out. Outside they have a large reflecting pool with seats all around which is a very nice touch. The seating areas have a very nice display of pictures of Wayne in his Hockey days and a lot of old family photos as well. We did a tasting that included several of their liquors. We tried the red and white Ice Wines, Whiskey and Creams. Let me start off by saying I do not like wine at all.... However the Ice Wines were absolutely incredible! The maple flavored Whiskeys were awesome and rich with flavor while being very smooth to sip. I tried the Butter Pecan Cream (kind of like Baileys) which was a favorite as well. The prices are very reasonable especially with the exchange rate. They have gift shops where wines, whiskey, creams can all be purchased. They also have shirts and other items. I personally loved the hockey stick shot flight. The shot glasses were skates that fit into a miniature hockey stick. They also have a restaurant where I had the best poutine I have ever eaten! I also had the smoked trout sandwich which was delicious. The Caesar salad with kale and capers was awesome! The flavor of the food, the freshness and presentation was second to none. The employees were extremely friendly, helpful and genuinely friendly when you have questions. Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery and Distillery was by far one of the highlights for my trip. This place is worth the visit again. The only down side is they do not ship to the States, so you have to get it in Canada.

The tour is followed by sampling 3 mini G&Ts with each of their gin flavours (classic, citrus and spiced), with explanations on the notes. At the end of the tour, you can select a drink from their extensive gin-based cocktail menu. Make sure you don't have plans immediately after this tour as you really get to do a lot of drinking! As a big fan of gin I definitely feel like I got my moneys worth on this tour. The cocktail class was taught by a different host and he walked us through how to make 3 totally different cocktails, each with different flavours. We certainly weren't experts in our pouring but the drinks turned out delicious nonetheless. I live close by and would totally love to come back even just to drink at their beautiful bar. I have already recommended the tour to my friends, if you are a gin lover this is a total MUST try!
