Went on a winery hopping trek with friends around the Olcott NY area. We didn't plan on stopping here but someone saw there sign along Lake Rd. Since I was the designated driver, i can't review the wine but I can review the service and atmosphere. We went in and the others in the group ordered tasting flights of wine. There was no friendly interaction, recommendations or wine description from the person pouring the wine. It was a very cold unwelcoming interaction. Immediately after pouring, the person just disappointed, not seen again until someone in our party wanted to buy something. Then he came running out from wherever he was hiding. Even though the wine may be okay, friendliest is not there. Unless you don't care about a cold atmosphere I'd say skip it. read more

Service is quick and friendly. It being a nice day outside, warm and sunny, we did not do indoor wine tasting. We bought a bottle of Reisling white. Little sweet. Chilled. Really enjoyable on a warm day sitting on their lovely patio looking out at the grassy lawn area. There are small tables and chairs and even large picnic tables if you want to bring the gang. Shouts out to the staff at the winery, during covid even with mask restricitions lifted by the CDC, one never knows what kind of customer service,to expect at the end of a busy Sunday. Stopped in literally 15 minutes to closing at 5: 45 p.m., they closed at 6 pm. Customer service is their priority in my opinion at Schultze, I dont know too many wineries that are accomadating that you can sample four wines for $5, browse around at their wine themed retail, and make a purchase of two wines in under a half hour. I've always wanted to try their wine; and was skeptical every time at my local liquor store, after visiting the actually winery ,their wines may be my new favorites. If your a sweet wine drinker highly recommend Ruby; if you enjoy the taste of grapes go for the Thirty Mile Point white wine. If you find yourself in Niagara County, bored check out the winery...their are plenty of signs and its easy to find. The winery has been opened since 2006, and sells their wine in several area local liquor stores. Another great way to enjoy a nice drive and support local. We really enjoy Schulze wine and stopped in recently after months since our last visit. We each got a tasting (4 samples for $5) and a bag of cubed cheese from East Hill Creamery to go with it. Since we got cheese they also gave us a small bag of wheat thins. There were several tables and chairs setup on their porch, so we had a peaceful tasting outside enjoying nature. Note: we went during the week so it was quiet. On a weekend, you may want to consider bringing your own picnic blanket and venturing out to the grassy area behind the building. Wine selection: they offer a variety of wines that span from sweet to dry, as well as wine slushees. For food they have several cheeses to choose from like East Hill Creamery, Yancy Fancy, and more, as well as a few other snack food options. Their shop also includes many wine gifts in addition to bottles of wine. I came here tonight to run a 5K race along the vineyard property. The winery offered three tastings on your 5K bib. To have less contact and time in the winery, the employees gave you one large pour, instead of three small samples. After my sample, I wanted to try one of the other sweet wines. They were willing to do that but because of the governor's rules, asked me to sit down at a small table in the corner. They had a discount if you bought between three and five bottles (or other larger quantities) so I bought one bottle of each sweet wine. The Catawba, the Ruby, and the Thirty Mile Point. The Ruby is my favorite. The employees were very kind and helpful. They thanked me for visiting their winery. I'd love to come back and sample more, or to stop by for a wine slushee, if I'm back in the area. read more

First stop on a quick winery tour from Niagara Falls, NY. Place was nice and clean. Very well maintained tasting room. Our tasting ambassador was Lisa. I tried the Old Barn Red, the Aurelia, and Seigfried Reserve, and the Catawba. Lisa was very thorough in explaining the wines. My interest was not looking for wines that are comparable to France, Italy, California, or even Texas (where I'm from). Although, you can use this as a frame of reference. Wines are much more than the liquid in the glass. Wine is about people, place, and passion. We don't grow Catawba or Riesling in Texas - it's too hot. And NY doesn't grow Tannat or Tempranillo - it's too cold. Wine is about taking a grape (or fruit), and bringing out the expression of what it can be, using what you have in front of you. It's about the people that make that happen - and their stories of bring their passion to share with others. All of the wines I tasted were dry, save the Catawba. They were fairly balanced, very light, and besides the Catawba, tight. Acidity was prevalent, bit not too overbearing. I would highly recommend visiting Schulze Vineyards & Winery. I really enjoy their wines. The staff and owners are wonderful. I especially like the outdoor seating for a tasting or just relaxing.

I've been here twice. I'll include my impressions of all the wines I've tried. The Block Three Ice Wine had an interesting honey flavor, though I didn't pick up on the promised rose petals. The semi dry Riesling is good. It has the fruity notes and crisp finish I want in a Riesling, but I think I like Rusty's Riesling from Vizcarra or Freedom Blue from Freedom Run a little bit more. The Lotus is sweet and tart but unmemorable. The Ruby tastes like the name: rich, red and decadent. The Catawba wine is pleasantly sweet and tart. I prefer it to the Lotus. Crackling Catawba is a little more sweet than tart, and wonderfully effervescent. I did not like Crackling Niagara, but I haven't had a lot of success with wines from that particular grape. I thought maybe a different wine making approach would help offset the foxiness, but nope; the pleasant fizz only made the unpleasant flavor all the more pronounced. Mon Cheri is Maraschino cherry sweetness with an enjoyable fizz. I like it paired with a cannoli at Cafora's because the sweetness of the wine compliments the less aggressively sweet pastry well. Not a serious wine, but fun. The staff tends to skew young, detached and uninformative. Today I was asked if I was tasting with the intent to purchase (which I was.) That was awkward. I picked up the Crackling Catawba since we're grilling for the holiday. read more

My boyfriend and I went to this winery because we have a NYS Wine Card and it offered a free tasting. The staff was welcoming and friendly. They seemed a little distracted but we realized later they had 2 buses coming and were preping for chaos! We tried some dry and sweet wines; we noticed with their wines they all had strong smells. We could smell so many different things in every wine. It might have been the glasses they had provided. We bought one bottle of wine from them and a Buffalo Bills wine glass coozy. Charming little grape farm turned winery after years of dreaming. The winemaker and his wife were pouring in the tasting room, which is always a nice touch. He was sharing his trials and tribulations and it made you appreciate the wines that much more. The wines were a good mix of dry wines from European grapes and sweet wines from American grapes. Schulze Winery is one of my wife and I's favorite wineries! We love the wine, and the whole atmosphere here. They have a delicious assortment of wines, to which we have tried almost all of them. My wife and I are sweet wine drinkers, so that is what we gravitate towards but I am a fan of a lot of the options here. The location is nicely setup, has a great group of people that are a part of the staff. We enjoy the Ruby, and Thirty Mile Point as our top two here. We usually have one of the large bottles on hand for any party/gathering that might be occurring at our house. We did a cake decorating class here, and that was a lot of fun, wine and cake how can you go wrong? I know they always have different events happening, and it is great to see them doing so well. I love this place and everything about it. During lockdown, they delivered wine to my house (which is kinda far away but I guess someone- maybe an owner?- lives near me so he delivered). We recently attended a Dog Days at this beautiful winery. My stepson shows two dogs in the dog show, as well as we took our dog to both visit and socialize. The winery was a real bonus. We went in and tasted some wines and then purchased one Catawba wine. We finished the bottle between four people so I returned and bought two more bottles of the same wine for gifts. We also ate lunch at the restaurant there on the premises. It was beautiful day outside, so in all it was a very positive experience for both people and all our furry friends. Very friendly staff helped me to pick some wines to purchase. The woman who helped me was extremely knowledgeable about each of the wines I tasted and directed me toward some that she knew I would probably like, and she was right. $2 will get you 3 tastings, but if you buy a certain amount of bottles, they waive it plus give you a discount! Stopped in to taste some wine after doing some Cherry picking up at Singer farms. There was a bus tour there as I stopped in, but even with all the other people the ladies pouring the wine were very attentive. Every time I walk out the door, I am reminded of how much I love this winery! It's a great place to go no matter what type of wine drinker you are....They have it all! I have always gone with a group of people and everyone finds something they love and walk out with a bottle....or a few (or a case) haha! There is also amazing cheese for sale and other artisan items. This last time I was there we purchased a bottle, cheese and a box of crackers. They cut up the cheese (at no extra cost) and opened a chilled bottle of wine (at no extra cost) and we sat outside at a bistro table overlooking the vineyard. IT WAS AN AMAZING DAY!!!!
