NTHS is a good supply store with a friendly, knowledgeable proprietor--we've had some fun conversations. Carries local honey for mead/honey wine variants. There's a nice overall range of supplies for vintners, brewers, mazers, etc. It's essentially one-stop shopping for ingredients, fermenters, racking, bottling, and cleaning supplies. I know that a local mom-and-pop has to charge a bit more than Amazon to keep the lights on, but a few things (e.g. those swing-top bottles that make your life easier) are perhaps better purchased online to save a bit. On the whole, a very good resource for the Buffalo homebrew community. I've been there three or four times since discovering it barely a month ago and will certainly be back. read more

Great store, always willing to help, quick and easy to shop at, and amazing prices. if you are in the WNY area and you brew, there's no reason not to shop here. I love walking in there and saying "well I was thinking about doing...." and hearing "good concept here's how I'd adjust that" or "not worth it I tried it and it didn't change anything. In the past year I've been in the store (or picking up with curbside) so many times and have never had anything other than great service. I'm so glad I live about a quarter mile away makes it an easy lunchtime run. read more

As a novice in home brewing, this shop is a tool as valuable as any book or manual. The staff is extremely helpful and they really know their trade. Whenever I've had a half formed idea in the past, they've been able to steer me in the right direction and provide me with excellent advice. Their home made kits are a godsend if you just want to learn the process and start brewing as easily as possible. I don't know if there even is another home brew shop in the area, these guys are so good I don't think I'd even go if there was. read more

If you are looking to make Beer, or even Wine for that matter and need some supplies/ ingredients, this is the place to go. I recently started brewing some beer on my own. Being that I do a lot of shopping online I figured I would get some stuff shipped over to me. Unfortunately there is not much to be had in terms of deals, because the stuff is heavy and therefore expensive to ship. While searching I did come across this place and figured I'd stop in to check it out. Definitely glad I did, they have just about everything you need to brew. Prices are comparable to online shops as well. They also have their own recipe kits for new brewers like myself who want to get started with some easy to follow instructions and ingredients all there for you. Staff was helpful in finding what I was looking for too. When I am ready for my next batch, this is where I'll be heading to get what I need. read more

What a great little shop for brewing supplies in Buffalo. It's great to see a place that is dedicated just to brewing beer and wine. I've been to other places that sell some ingredients or kits as an aside to selling beer but it really makes a difference having a shop dedicated to the craft and staffed by knowledgeable brewmasters. My sister gave my brother and me one of their home starter kits a few Christmases ago and now we greatly enjoy our homebrewed beer. And we get our ingredients solely from Niagara Tradition. They have an impressive collection of barley, malts, hops, and canned all-in-one syrups. What I really dig though are their prepackaged brew ingredient kits. Basically the brewmasters took their tried and true recipes and put everything you need to duplicate them into a box. They then sell it to you for the same price as buying everything individually. This is great for the novice brewer who wants to go beyond the syrups where everything is homogenized together, but don't quite have all the knowledge yet to come up with their own combination of ingredients. We've tried their American Smoked Porter kit and it came out rich, dark, and full of flavor. Take note that they also have all the various equipment you'll need too, and a website where you can order it all for delivery. This includes buckets, carboys, hoses, pots, bottles, caps, kegging kits, etc. If you ever have a problem with your brewing you can always ask someone here for advice, they are happy to give it and know what they are talking about. I think they also do some events where they invite other brewers to get together and sample each others' beers to trade notes and get/give advice and suggestions. Also they carry all the necessary equipment for making wine and old fashion sodas but since I haven't looked into that I can't comment on it. read more

Very cool homebrew shop. They have every type of grain and every type of hop that you could imagine. One of the only places around to get Honey Malt. Tons of equipment. They have ingredients for winemaking as well. Very helpful with questions and advice. I was impressed, I will stop in whenever I am in the area, which is pretty often. They will special order anything you want as well. If you are looking for a special strain of yeast, you can call in advance and they will make sure to get in some fresh packets or vials. Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable about the brewing process. Yes, even the cute young woman who works there, so don't jump to any silly conclusions when you are seeking help. Last time I was there, I got great tips on making a Elderberry wine from one of the guys, and it tastes great already, can't wait to taste it after 6 more months in the fermenter. There was a time in this country where the only beer to be found was watery, fizzy tasteless lagers. Prohibition had devastated the beer industry, and the only survivors rigged the game so that we would would never return to the days of craft beer in America...or did they? You see, there was a revolution brewing. It would take decades, but the beer wars would be won by craft brewers...and it all started in shops like this. This is Buffalo's oldest, and best, stores for beer making supplies. If you ever wanted to make your own beer, they can set you up with the equipment you need and the instructions to use it, this very day. The staff is super friendly. It's a family affair, and what a family it is. I know of three breweries either begun or beginning thanks to this store. That's a hell of a legacy. So go brew some beer. read more

I wouldn't even have rated it 1 star, but I was forced by Yelp to at-least give it 1 star. The store could be kept more clean considering the type of store it is. I would not recommend this store to anyone, the employees were very rude, I overheard a conversation in regards to the actual source and quality of the fresh ingredients that they sell there, and from what I heard, I would not touch anything that they have, especially if that's how they conduct business. The line in the store was ridiculous and the kit that I did purchase, was not as advertised, and I truly felt that their main priority was to get a sale, rather than actually cater to a customer's needs. I would not recommend ordering online, as I read another reviewer talk about the damaged goods, almost everything is breakable and very fragile, so I highly doubt they properly packed those items you ordered, thus ultimately resulting in the damage. read more
