We stopped in the morning before our train ride. What a great decision. Some of the freshest meats and cheeses in town. Service was excellent. Plenty of outdoor seating. Plenty of drink options. Fresh pastries being made daily. Conveniently located in downtown Napa. Definitely worth checking out.

The Fatted Calf is a charming butcher shop that's well worth a stop. The shop is small but has a warm, inviting interior, with a few outdoor seats if you'd like to enjoy a snack. In addition to high-quality meats, they offer a wonderful selection of pantry items and specialty foods. Service was exceptional. We sampled two different types of salami, and both were absolutely delicious. It's the perfect place to pick up picnic supplies or gourmet treats to enjoy later.

This is a small place next to Oxbow market. There's a bigger version inside the ferry building in San Francisco. We ordered a pound of the porchetta for dinner and a side of Giardiniera. It was across the street from where we just had lunch at Scala Osteria. We got a lot of attention right away. Since most things are weighed per pound, you have to ask for specific things and they will then get it for you. They had a number of beans from Rancho Gordo. I found out about the pickled vegetables from a Rancho Gordo email stating that theirs was the best. They had a small container for $10 in the fridge by the pound. They had a number of gourmet sandwiches that you can't find anywhere else. My husband loves porchetta sandwiches from Sausalito at the Joinery. That's why we had to come here when we found out that they had porchetta sandwiches freshly made. They also sell raw porchetta and porchetta shoulder for 16 and 10 respectively. We opted to buy the cooked porchetta for $20 a pound. The staff member instructed us to bake it at 250° in the loosely wrapped foil for 15 minutes to freshen it up. I'll give an update after we eat it. :)

It has been too long since I've been back to Fatted Calf and it is as good as I remember it! I only ordered the porchetta sandwich because I was going to a concert afterwards (Johnny Marr at the Uptown Theater in Napa- superb!). The sandwich was perfect! Crisp bread, delicious balance of meat, vegetables, oil and herbs. I will be thinking about it how soon I can come back for another. There is outdoor seating available. The deli counter is very tempting and the decor is charmingly rustic with a gourmet flair. The staff were wonderful about being conscious about my allergies.

I always stop by the Fatted Calf when I'm in Napa to pick up prosciutto. I love a good charcuterie tray and they always have the best selection of meats! Not to mention they have sandwiches, soups, wine, beef jerky and so much more! This place is a hidden gem for a bite to eat, especially if you want a little snack, you can get a little bit of prosciutto, salami and cheese with a grab and go drink and sit at the park that's right next to this place. I always have quick service and the meat selection is written out on the menu with prices and there is plenty to look at in the glass case too. If you need a special meat or fat, this is the place to come!

My husband and I stopped by here last minute on a whim while going on a random weekday drive. We were looking for a little snack and found this deli, and I'm glad we did! It's a pretty small deli located near a brewery and I believe a public market. Parking is not the best but we were able to squeeze into the nearby parking lot. The interior is cute, I'll be at small. It's like a small deli front with sandwiches and a couple of like jarred or canned things or dried things that you could shop for, but the focus is really the deli here. This review is for the deli sandwich only, we can't comment on the other deli products, though it seems like their customers love their products and they were really helpful and friendly to everyone looking We got the muffaletta. Unfortunately, they were out of the standard bread so we swapped it for a baguette and no regrets. The sandwich itself was so good nice and salty, intense flavors, but also melt in your mouth. We're so glad we decided to stop by here and I definitely would like to come back to try their other sandwiches and maybe their deli offerings.

Everything we tried was great. High quality meats and cheeses. I only wish we lived closer so we could have purchased some things to take home. Yum!

On our last day in Napa, I stopped by Fatted Calf for some snacks for the plane ride as well as some souvenirs for friends. I purchased two of their Jambon Buerre sandwiches, some artisanal salt, house-made Rosemary Almonds, and a few packs of smallish pork sausages from the deli case. It's a gourmand's shop with lots of enticing meats in the case. They've stopped serving soup on their menu, but still sell it in frozen quarts in a freezer case.

Very high end with high quality meats. We got the sandwiches with were tasty, very simple with good ingredients on Acme bread. The Jamon and truffle butter sandwich was good, but a bit over powering on the truffle flavor, not for everyone. The prosciutto sandwich was great with jam and basil. Definitely more European stay esandwiches than American.

Went to Model Bakery next door and checked out Fatted Calf Menu while waiting. They have a small selection of sandwiches in addition to a ton of cured and fresh meats to buy. I had to try one of their sandwiches. Ordered their Jamon-Beurre De Truffle sandwich. To be honest the sandwich is on the small side for $14.00 and relatively basic bread, smear and meat. But the sandwich was very tasty and the butter smear was very good. I could have eaten another half to get full. Folks inside were very nice and offered our dog a beef treat which was very nice of them. They also gave us a sample of cured meat while we waited for the sandwich so they are customer service oriented There is no seating inside but outside there are covered tables and chairs so you can enjoy your meal right there. Made it a nice place to eat and chill.

This little gem of a market hiding just outside the corner of Oxbow Marketplace is the Ideal spot to grab a casual can or bottled libation! Friendly staff featuring great prices on some excellent local brews and ciders. Grab and go and gather your friends at the picnic tables right outside. During summer enjoy listening to headliners playing live and outside at the Oxbow River Stage. Don't forget the charcuterie!

    Taking home some goodies.,

Ask the Community - Fatted Calf Charcuterie

Does anyone know if they carry Wagyu or Kobe Beef?

The Napa store tends not to carry much beef since 5 dots carries it inside the Oxbow Market.

Figured I'd add this review to my list of places to remember and go back to. Really cool spot with an amazing assortment of meats. From duck to quail. Venison to veal. Boar to chicken. The butchers are hard at work in the background providing excellent quality cuts to their customers (and no, the store doesn't smell like a butcher shop). It's a homey little spot as you go down the driveway that opens up into the parking lot. Great and friendly service. This run I picked up: frogs legs, rabbit, boar sausage, summer sausage. Some of tried in the past, and was craving something unique for the family meals. My aunt is a picky eater who will shy away from such things if she knew what it was. . . so I won't tell her. .

They trim quite carefully and follow your directions to a "t". It's always a delight to open one of the packages (we have them wrap in paper as it stacks better in the freezer) -- almost like a gift these pieces of meat are so beautifully cut. We've really enjoyed their service. Of course, you can just pop into their quaint store and buy some cuts, but we purchase half animals (beef or pork) from nearby Stemple Creek Ranch and then have bud do the cuts for us. The quality of their work is first rate, their communication is excellent, and their price is fair.

We opted this year to do a half cow, which now seems to me probably overly optimistic, but that's what we did. We wanted grass fed/grass finished which is usually more expensive and harder to get, but Willowside told us no problem and we put down the $100 deposit. It seemed like almost overnight they were able to get all the stars aligned to get the cow ready and they were already calling me for preferences on cuts. I love the attention to detail we were given on education of different things, because for me having been a vegetarian for many years, this is a lot of info building still. We found out our cow topped the scales at over 800 lbs so our half share was about 412 or so and cost about $2300. We opted for vacuumed packed rather than butcher paper, and gave them our preferences on size of cuts. When we arrived to pick everything up we did have some challenges with making sure we had everything - I was told it would be 8 boxes but it only ended up being 6, and we couldn't find the bone marrow which was one of the big selling points for the half cow. Undaunted we took our prizes home and I set out packing two complete freezers full of meats and bones. I have yet to try the beef but it looks beautiful. Overall it was a good price, quick turn around, and I especially liked that the grass fed cows come from Full Circle Ranches which is in Petaluma and is run by a friend of the owner of Willowside so that's good local business. Definitely looking forward to burgers and roasts in the very near future!
