I wanted lighter color to my brown hair, but was afraid it would ruin my curls as color has done to me in the past. He assured me a balayage would give soft highlights without changing my curls and would also be easy to maintain. That was true! He did a fantastic job and it looked so great!! So I came back for an update. I booked the first available appointment (which I guess was Betty). When I sat down and told her I booked a balayage, she asked me why? I told her it was what was recommended last time I came in. She talked me out of it saying that highlights were the same thing (they aren't!) and she said highlights were actually cheaper (which turned out to be false because I was charged the same amount as a balayage). I should have left and gone somewhere else. I went against my gut and got highlights and now my curls are stringy and dry. The color doesn't compliment my natural tones at all. I'm so sad. I also asked specifically for layers that would not look like a triangle on my head. Now I have two distinct layers that are triangles of ugly frizzy curls. Sorry Orlando, I will not be back. If you've got curly hair, I recommend you keep looking for somewhere else.

I said I thought my appointment was with Ester? She said she was not available. I asked what tier stylist Vinny was. She said tier 3. I said my appointment was with a tier 6 stylist and asked if one was available. She said no would you like to reschedule (after I had already scheduled and drove up there). I decided to just move forward with Vinny and then got a lousy haircut by someone no interpersonal skills and no interest or talent in styling hair. After a year of growing my hair out and the very first experience in a hair salon, I honestly wish I never went there. The service sucked, the stylist sucked, the whole vibe sucked meaning a bunch of nonprofessional teenagers that have zero customer service skills. So no, I would never recommend this salon (if you can even call it that).

I've been going to Vivian for years and had a couple bad haircuts, but she fixed them. The last…read moretime she cut my hair I didn't realized how messed up my hair was until I washed it and curled it. Hair was so uneven and short in some spots and longer in others. I always asked that she cut my hair leaving the top longer than the sides and my hair on top was the same length as my sides. The back was really short in spots that when I curled my hair it was popping out and I constantly had to curl on part and curl the other which made me work harder and takes longer. One might ask why I didn't go back to her, honestly it was the worse cut she provided on my head, and I would not give her the satisfaction to touch my hair ever again. I started to schedule an appointment with one of her co-workers so they could see how she is not consistent with doing hair and how uneven it was throughout my head. She wanted to go to Costco's and maybe that's where her head was. I don't not recommend Vivian in the Woodbridge Hair Cuttery located at Merchant Plaza. My stylist is Sara, so this review is for her; I can't speak for the other stylists but I'm sure they're all awesome as well. Sara is a miracle worker, plain and simple. The first time I came in I had no clue what haircut I wanted; I just knew I needed a big change. I told her to do literally whatever she thought looked good as long as it was shorter (I had medium length, scraggly hair) and she gave me the best haircut I had ever received (picture attached)! It put me on track to figure out what I truly loved, and now I absolutely love my hair. I started dying it last year, and have had it done by Sara each time, and it always turns out so perfectly (pictures attached!). My hair is hard to bleach and lifts very slowly, but she is so patient with it and really puts the time in to make sure it turns out right (the first time I bleached it, it took way longer than she expected and I was there past closing time, and she stayed the whole time with a positive attitude)! Her demeanor is so friendly and positive, and so is everyone else's who works there. She's also very very knowledgeable on hair products and color; and can give great advice for both hair maintenance and looks to go for! I truly love having her do my hair and I doubt I'll see anyone else for as long as possible! It really is one of the happiest places I've ever been, and I actively enjoy sitting there for long hours because the vibe is so warm and calm. Not to mention it's in a gorgeous location with a beautiful historic district and views of the Occoquan river on the upper level (which is where Sara works)! The interior is wonderful and feels very home-y and comforting, which is great. Every assistant I've had has been good, but I went in today and a new woman named Kelly was there--she was incredible! She gave me the best head massage I've ever gotten and was so kind and caring. I hope she sticks around for a long time because she made the experience even more awesome than it normally is. I've gushed enough at this point for you to get the idea; about the only possible thing that could be improved here is if they had snacks available for the clients--I would love to have some chocolate, cookies, dried fruit, nuts, stuff like that to go with the coffee, tea, and water they offer! I can slap red color on myself too for less than 100 bucks . Kinda disappointed
