I did not detox and was there for the mental health aspect they just added ( the VA sent me there ) I went close minded with the idea I was going to stay for only 3 days and return but I ended up staying for 20 days. So let me start with the things I did not like there...first to many kids not being held accountable to attend the groups and just sitting around smoking all day and then being able to high up all the outside meetings and events that those who attend the groups regulary attend. There is not enough info for new admissions you generally spend the first 3 days navigating everything trying to find your way around. The CA's are very helpful but there are just not enough of them to help everyone. And I thought there should be some type of security there. There is a lot that goes on that the CAs just cant pick up on and are not trained for. I went with the intention on hoping for one on one sessions with a therapist to find out I enjoyed the big group and was able to open up more and talk about things I havnt spoke about in years. I can not say enough good things about my therapists in big group Charlie and Mary!! If you have to go there hopefully you end up with them. I have been seeing therapists for over 15 years and Charlie was the only one who was able to break through for me. Overall the facility itself is fault nice, food is ok ...good probably use a few more pavilions outside maybe out back. I don't believe I got much help with the gambling issue cause they kept putting it with drinking and drugs I get it it's an addiction but I didn't get drugs to help stop the urges to gamble like those who have urges to drink and use. If you are going to have a mental health aspect you may have to start a group only to deal with that and not group them with substance abuse individuals because for me listening to someone for an hour who uses did not help me much. Anyways thank you for what was done for me there and I am thankful for the resources I was afforded and the time I was able to get away from the real world and focus on some things I had buried

In ALL areas these persons are universally 1. professional, 2. skilled, 3. non-fake, kind, and caring, 4. qualified. Maybe it is not important for care, but I thought a reader of this review would want to know that I never skipped any of my 90 meals because the food is great. I gained 14 lbs. If you are a prospective client, the therapy is engaging and effective. Plan on hours of group work a day. Root cause therapy happens, not just coping skills. I do not know if the staff created the atmosphere, but the patient culture is terrific, and peers will help you, and some will be lifelong friends and supporters. The rooms are good; expect a roomate in most cases. The nursing staff is skilled & professional and always with a smile, but I could use that same superlative with all the groups of staff. You will like the staff. You will like the treatment. You will like the food. You will like the bed. You will like the firepit, cornhole, pickleball, gym, etc. The treatment will work if you work. The ability to keep in touch with work, friends, and family is part of the philosophy--you keep your phone and laptop. You can't work full-time, but more than a few of us got work done, and the phone absolutely helps in preparing your life after discharge. I think most patients end up using it to communicate with other patients. The facility is not full-blown Ritz luxury, but it is not even close to being a dump. If it were a hotel, it would be a Hampton Inn, and I saw a pattern of continuous upgrading, so maybe it will be luxurious in the future. Who cares? Vacation amenities are not really the point of staying here. Definitely clean, safe, and secure if that is a concern.

The first problem that I had was, I was told to get undressed and put on the hospital gown, I asked if I could leave my underwear on and was told that yes I could. Later on that evening when a different nurse saw I was still wearing underwear, and after she caused me great pain trying to draw blood from my arm, she proceeded to cut off my underpants and a brand new $30.00 bra. I told her I could slip the bra off and she totally ignored me. My other complaint is that the same nurse as above, hurt me and caused pain, and bad bruising to both of my arms, trying to draw blood, and then putting in an IV later. My arms are still sore three days later. I have NEVER in my life ever had anyone have a hard time putting a needle into my arm, and I'm always told that I have great veins for drawing blood. Not only was she apparently unschooled on how to draw blood or put in an IV. She was also very rude, and kept mumbling. Plus she unnecessarily cut off my brand new underwear that I had been told I could keep on! The entire time that I had to deal with her I felt like I was bothering her. My son was getting very angry and was about to go to the desk and demand another nurse because he didn't like the way that she was treating me. I have no idea what her name was, but she was overweight and looked unkept. In the end, I was transferred to the trauma unit at Lancaster General, since Ephrata doesn't even have a trauma unit! That was the best thing that could have happened to me. I had wonderful doctors and knowledgeable nurses, as well as exceptional care for the three days I was at Lancaster General Hospital.

The person who was interviewing them stopped the interview and stated "people like you can't and shouldn't take care of others because you don't know how to properly." This statement is discrimination at the very least and I am helping the person who had the interview find a lawyer to file a lawsuit against this company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone who is not a straight white person to even try to get a job here. They will not hire you and it will just be a waste of your time. I showed up on time and was informed that my doctor was "at least an hour behind" for my 11:20 am appointment. I cancelled this visit because it is inexcusable that it is okay for the doctor to be behind but it the patient is late they charge you. I have been to other locations and each appointment was about a 30 minute wait even though I was on time.
