We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

He came and walked through and provided a design and estimate for my project for 50K. We started the project in July. Project was est. for completion on Aug 17, 2020. I emphasized to Al, that I was paying rent and mortgage. Relationship with Al was going good, I would check in with him regularly, and he the same. I appreciated what I thought was transparency. I was looking for another contractor to install central air into my home, Al opted to that work for $7200 which included the equipment (he cannot provide warranty like he told me). I added that he would add a new bath to the master bedroom and a closet space in my 2nd bedroom for 24K. He assured me that he could get this done in the initial timeframe, I did tell him that a completion date in Sept would be fine with me. However, the project was moving much slower that I'd expected. Al was using my site for his dumpster storage, and was completing his other jobs in the city and putting the trash in the dumpster on my site, while my house was not getting worked on. A whole week or 2 would pass, nothing was done., Project took addt'l 2 months. Al stole money, by overcharging me for the cabinets and countertops. I called the wholesaler and estimate was less by 2K. I showed him this, and he had nothing to say, and his story was he was avoiding taxes so he paid in cash. However, I was not made aware of him trying to cut cost.....because he intended to pocket my money and asked me for more. He cannot provide the actual receipts. I do like final product, but I had to inspect and follow up every step as he started giving me false promises towards the end. I paid him upfront, so delivering the final product was hard for him in the end. I showed him almost everyday and asked his workers to complete tasks that were left incomplete, because Al kept telling me he would do it, and it wasn't getting done. The final straw was, he told me that he would put my lighting fixtures up for free, in the end, he sent me a bill charging me $100 for each fixture totaling to $900. I told him, well if you want to charge me for this, then deduct it from the overpayment I paid for the cabinets, countertops, and my closet (the closet budget was for $700, he bought $100 materials and pocket the rest) He did not include hooks that was in the contract, He did not include dimmer lights in my kitchen that was in the contract, my garbage disposal was last min and the switch was placed under the kitchen sink which is very inconvenient for use. His lack of attention to detail was very prevalent. I had to supervise my project to get the money worth that I was paying for. He threatening to take me to court, I hope he does, so he can pay me for not finishing my project on time, and for the overpayment that he stole from me, storing his dumpster on my site for free. He is a thief. His workers did well, but he's a liar and a thief. I don't recommend.

Brad clearly saw what I was talking about and said oh yeah, we could cap all around your windows in the wood part top by the attic everything will take care of all that and I said OK thank you that's great., they charged me $11,444. I gave them a down payment of $8444 and all they did was put seven windows in the four windows on the side of the house"never touch nothing in the front just put three Windows in the front of my house" and to think I was gonna get them to remodel my kitchen there's no way in holy hell that I would ever do that. And the communication with these people are is horrible. Now I can't even reach a guy called Brad. I think they said he no longer works there. I'm not sure.
