Came here on a Wednesday night when they have a special that allows all customers to get $5 worth of nickels and not pay the entrance fee. This is probably the best deal that this arcade offers, so go on a Wednesday night for sure!! The whole experience was extremely nostalgic and the prizes at the end were so fun to look at! We took our daughter there the other day and we had a great time. There is an admission charge for EVERYONE, but its small and worth it. You can bring your own nickles or get them there. But don't let that scare you because MANY MANY of the games are FREE to play. there is one Driving game that I sat and played for 20 min with out needing tokens, just push the start button and have fun. THE ONLY downside to this place is that it needs a good good cleaning. The bathrooms were quite despicable, the floor was soaked with urine and other debris. We were there on a busy saturday so maybe they weren't keeping up with the demand. And the machines were sticky in some places and in need of a good wipe down, which I think the employees could handle instead of standing up front chatting, they could be wiping machines down with some cleaning stuff. And trash cans put around for all the little BAGGIES all over the place, or again, the employees could be picking them up. But I would return, I would like to have my daughters birthday party there, but it will depend on if they clean those bathrooms up! read more

I came here to kill time because Chipotle wasn't open yet and my little sister insisted that we eat at Chipotle. It costs a little under $4/person for entry to this place but this fee is reasoned by the fact that all the arcade games are "free." This includes shooter and racing games. You use nickels for the games that give you tickets. Each physical ticket counts for 2 tickets. They have a ton of prizes to choose from but the prizes are expensive in terms of number of tickets required to acquire them. For instance, a single warhead is 30 tickets (which = 15 physical tickets). And any ticket game can range from 2-6 nickels. You can get nickels there or bring in your own. I really like this place because it reminds me of Nickel-City back in the Bay Area. I used to go there as an older teen and it's nice not having to exchange money for tokens. If you don't use all your nickels it's completely fine because they're still worth something. I also like the idea that you can give your kids incentives to collect nickels. The interior of this place is pretty old looking and dusty but it's very nostalgic and cool in that way. You feel like you time-warped into the 90s. The cashier boy was enthusiastic and friendly. They host birthday parties that are $12 a head and includes Domino's pizza, a cake and a "special surprise" for the birthday kid (unsure what this is). read more

So I was watching an anime the other day and I got the craving for some good old-fashioned arcade fun. I went in search of an arcade in the city OTHER than the mega-giants Dave & Buster's and Chuck E Cheese's and boy did I hit the jackpot with Nickel-A-Play. I found out about this arcade from my little brothers who are still teenagers and when they told me the name of the place I figured that it was too good to be true. A nickel to play a game? That must be a lie. So I drove over to the place with my roommate and the lot was deserted. I walked in and the hostess welcomed us and explained the rules. The gist of it is that you pay $3.50 to get into the arcade and then you get to play the old arcade games that hand out tickets for 1 nickel. Thats right! Skee-ball is just a nickel! I walked further down and saw the standard DDR machine and it cost 5 nickels (which is only $0.25 which is still cheaper than everyone else). Here is the best part: every arcade machine other than DDR is totally free! No coins required! There is also a party corner which can be reserved for parties. The tickets from the ticket machines can be redeemed for awesome prizes or you can walk away with a ticket check so that you can save up for a certain prize. This arcade makes it easy to get through tough times by offering an insanely good deal. It is my new favorite hang-out spot on weekdays. read more

Basically, you pay 3.50 and you can play anything you want as long as you want for no additional money. Exceptions are that DDR is 50 cents and skeeball is 5 cents. Pinball is 10 cents. This place has tons of games, and most of them are really awesome games you'll actually want to play. Some of the games are a little janky and old, but it won't ruin your experience at all. And anyway, the people working there are very nice and patient and not at all rude if you have a problem with a game. I love you, Nickel-A-play. read more

What a super fun old-fashioned arcade at a very small fraction of the price you'll pay anywhere else!!!! 2 boys (ages 9 and 10) had SO much fun and could not believe that they got to play so many fun games for free or for just a nickel (or three); they had an absolute blast!!!! What a fun way to spend a few hours, and they loved walking away with a great little prize for their tickets. No, the place was not super fancy, it might freak out a germ-a-phobe, and yes many games were old and some were broken, but this place is exactly as advertised. What made a good experience GREAT was that the guys working there were helpful, friendly, approachable, and great with the kids! We'll definitely make this place a regular stop through Colorado! Well worth the admission price of $3.50! Plus watch for daily deals which can include nickels for the games. You could be entertained for hours without even using any additional nickels, playing the free games that do not yield tickets. This was a great time for everyone in my family, ages 14 through 50! My son and I love this place. It's one of the only places in the denver metro area where you can go spend a couple of hours, have a blast and not pay out an arm and a leg. I appreciate there is a place left where you can do that. It seems like for everything my son and I do together, there goes another $100. Not with Nickel-a-Play. This arcade is one of the cheaper options in the area, but they have a wide variety of retro games. They have a Dance Dance Revolution machine that works perfectly, and is inexpensive to play as well! The staff is always so kind and helpful, and everything is kept neat and clean. The only reason this isn't a five star review would be due to a few good games like Tekken and Time Crisis being broken either joystick/gun-wise or the LCD's are glitchy. It's just a bunch of old arcade games thrown together in a room... not visually appealing, but great for cheap fun! I wish they had some better soda/concessions situation, though. I've been driving past this place for most of time here in Aurora. I heard it was a sort of arcade so I made note of it in the back of my mind. I went there for the first time with a friend and I had a fantastic time. The overall feel was that of the arcades of the past. Great value and great people working there. The only reason that this was'nt 5 stars is because some of the machines were either partially working or not working at all. Sure this is an inexpensive place to go but really sucks when only half their machines work but don't have a sign stating such, so you're just wasting money on a useless machine. The one guy working on a Sunday night at 9 pm made it really apparent that he didn't want to be there. He made no announcement that the 30 plus people in there needed to be out right at 10 pm, until 5 minutes prior to closing and then refused to cash in any tickets and instead issued vouchers. Not just for kids either, they have alot of oldskool arcade games from the 90s even earlier games like pac man, tetris, galagga and theyre all free with the admission price. There are tons of games, when one doesn't work (some don't, just expect that) you can just move on to another and it's not like you're out a lot of money. I love going to this arcade, weather it's with my class or just with my friends and family. I am part of the younger audience, and I love this place! I was first taken here by a friend for my birthday and that was when I first started to love going here. After that, I took my family members with me and we all had a blast. I love this place! I definitely found a new date night spot or kids night out treat. It's fun for the WHOLE family. With minimum wage increased, they did raise the entrance fee to $3.95 I believe. A lot of people might be puzzled why there is an entrance but fee but believe me it's so worth it! Half of the games are FREE.... YES FREE! And the other half that require money usually require a nickel. The most "expensive" game in the arcade costs I believe $0.50. FIFTY CENTS! The machines that do require money are the machines that spew out tickets which you can exchange for fun prizes! You can bring your own nickels or you can buy exchange them with the arcade. I was able to treat my family to a night full of fun for less than $30 and that's with everyone getting LOTS of nickels to enjoy and when we ran out of nickels we stuck to the free side to utilize EVERY minute and make every cent worth it! read more
