An amusement park in a mall is a really cool concept. We really came here just so I could say I've ridden a roller coaster in a mall. We rode the Pepsi Orange Streak. I think we made the wrong choice because it was very slow with almost no hills and no loops. The SpongeBob one next to it looked more intense. While it's fun, it's not cheap. A single ride costs about $8. You can do an all day pass too, but that is just under $40. At that price, I'd rather just go to a real amusement park with more/better rides. If you're at the mall with kids, I can see this being a fun thing to do. read more

First time coming to M of A for Nickelodeon Universe. We have three girls 6,4 and 21 months who were dying to try a lot of the rides and while we have been to Mall of America and picked up a rode or two we got wristbands. In a winter state this place is great. Park near Nordstrom's and it's a simple walk to the middle of the mall and you will find the park. With rides for all ages this place is amazing. There is a kids section and playground that is cleaned in between sessions and more advanced rides and coasters for the bigs. Get 2 wristbands at Costco for 45 literally half off the retail price. The band is unlimited rides (excludes specialties) but covers the park or for the one or two ride people you can buy point passes per ride. Check it out before you judge, kids love it ! read more

When I was growing up, this place was Camp Snoopy, and it was awesome. The colors were cohesive and the rides' themes made sense. My parents loved going with us and they liked the rides too. When the park was sold to Nickelodeon, things immediately got worse, but we thought it was just a transitional thing. Now, however, it's clear it's a management thing. Paint is chipping, some rides are quite literally duct taped together, the colors don't make sense and the ride themes are strange. If you're 6, it's still awesome. As an adult, it's disappointing to see just how much the new management has let the park go. It's been 15 years, and as far as I can tell they haven't put in a single update, and they certainly haven't done the work required to keep a park like that up to snuff. It looks run down and cheap, but you still pay top dollar to go. If you're thinking of going to an amusement park, go to Valley Fair instead. It'll have a broader selection of rides and activities, and it won't be held together with duct tape. Still gets three stars because the rides are fun. It just looks tacky, has a small selection, and seriously needs a face lift. read more

You always smell like silver coins. You have that "Nickel-odor-on" you no matter where you go in the Universe. But moving on. Very interesting theme park located in Minneapolis in the massive Mall of America, right in the center where the food court should probably be. The thing that is really crazy about this is that in this huge space it managed to squeeze a bunch of different theme parks, and Nickelodeon Universe is just one of the many different aspects of this Mega-expensive multitude of theme parks in here. The reason it doesn't get a higher rating is because of the price. It's very expensive. If you have under 10 year olds, they're going to really love this - especially if you sit them in front of Nickelodeon most of the time instead of being a parent. Wink. Easy for me to say. Save your money and go to valley fair.. anything that's actually fun cost more, there's about 5 rides you can do unless you want to either pay more or hop on the kiddie stuff. The log ride was out.. it's the funnest ride here and since you only have a couple other options you'd think they'd discount tickets to make it worth it but nope. Lines are crazy too so if you want to spend 3 hours going on 5 rides for $50 come on down. read more

My children always love the rides... BUT....this time my child was TAKEN, pushed away from where his MOTHER had placed him while I walked my other child up the the rollercoaster. In his wheelchair, she pushed him AWAY with out ANY consent or permission, driven to an undisclosed location saying to him " It was PROTOCOL" during a lockdown PRACTICE RUN... Could not find him for 20 minutes! Running around the mall trying to find him, flagged down a caucasian security guard who could NOT have cared less, he was finally located and she was "talked to" about this because it is NOT PROTOCOL to make park go-ers participate in a practice drill and she was NOT supposed to separate a child from their parent!!! Then a supervisor LIED and said I threatened her BODILY harm, this IS the same broad who KIDNAPPED a child from his parent, CORRECT??? read more

Nickelodeon Universe is the heart and soul of the Mall of America. Essentially it is the seven acre indoor theme park that also serves as the super-sized courtyard that the Mall of America radiates around. Underneath its seven acre glass ceiling are 27 rides and attractions in a Nickelodean themed universe. With the clock ticking to zero, Nickelodean Universe is the largest indoor theme park until the grand opening of the second Nickelodean Universe in The American Dream (The Meadowlands in NJ) soon opens. Although I am not a fan of the Nickelodean stable of characters as I am the Hanna Barbara, Looney Toons, and the Snoopy staple that was formerly here when it was Knott's Camp Snoopy; I had a relaxing time in the company of Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sponge Bob, and friends. I give credit to Nickelodean Universe for doing such a fantastic job with the theme. Much like I have written about Las Vegas hotels, attention to theming is very important. I also give credit to the Mall of America for its well designed layout. A few minutes after we entered the mall we explored the Nickelodean Universe. The landmarks in the indoor theme park served as landmarks in the mall. For example when I saw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock I knew I was by the West Wing and when I saw the El Circulo Del Cielo, I knew I was by the North Wing. And then when I approached the colossal Lego attractions and shop, I was aware that I was by the South Wing. Thanks to this well designed layout, Nickelodean Universe is adjacent to the south food court which overlooks the park. The third level north food court is not far. In 2014 the Hard Rock Cafe opened inside the park. In the center of the park is a Caribou Coffee. Although I am a 47 year old kid at heart I passed over going on any rides. You can say that my ride was "being in the moment" taking in the scenery. My one regret was passing over riding the Pepsi Orange Streak. This is the orange roller Coaster that provides a thrilling view of the park from just below the glass ceiling that fills the park with sunlight on nice days. For me, the majority of rides were more enjoyable to watch than partake in. This included the Log Chute. Dating back to the Knott's Camp Snoopy Days this log flume best captures the former Camp Snoopy theme with the canapy of trees and water. There are a few perspectives to capture the ride. One is by the east entrance where you can see the riders barely get wet after the plunge. The second is from level 3 of the mall where you see riders in the log floating high up before the drop down. I did not see any rider get drenched. Throughout the indoor park the screaming was a sign of riders getting their money's worth. Many of these rides were intimidating. In my opinion, the park's major flaw was that a children's cartoon character hosted a crazy ride that even had teenagers screaming. This is similar to having a Big Bird zip line or a Cookie Monster Drop from a Las Vegas hotel tower. The Sponge Bob Square Pants Rock Bottom Plunge was the quintessential example. It confounds me that a ride themed after Sponge Bob is made up of loops and ninety degree turns at careening speed. What would confound me even more would be the dizziness that I would experience partaking in some of these thrill rides. Throughout my visit to the Mall of America, it's indoor courtyard the Nickelodean Universe was a pleasure to spend time in. It truly is the centerpiece of the Mall of America. I wish that every regional mall had their own version of a Nickelodean Universe. For now that is not a reality. What is a reality is giving Nickelodean Universe Four Stars. read more

My family had a wonderful time at Nickelodeon Universe this past September. We arrived on a Friday evening and I was excited to see that discounted wristbands are offered during the evening when most of the day is behind you. I have younger kids, so we were looking specifically for rides that they could ride. There was a ride with a bus that my kids REALLY wanted to ride, but it was down for the day. We planned on returning on Saturday so my hope was that it would be available at that time. Nevertheless, they had a blast on the rides they could ride and the lines weren't long at all. We were a little disappointed to not see any character appearances that evening, even though they were listed on the website. We returned the park on Saturday and as expected, there were a lot more people. The lines still weren't too bad. My younger son really enjoyed the Paw Patrol themed play area. My 5 year old wanted to zip line, and although he met the height requirement, he was scared when he got to the top and just wouldn't go across. He didn't cry or anything, just asked to come down and that took some time because he had to wait on his Dad to come back across to get him. A few tips: -I don't recommend the bathrooms. Go back into the mall to use the bathroom if you must, they are MUCH cleaner. -Find an attendant to help pay for wristbands. I found the machines to be confusing and actually didn't purchase the unlimited wristband on Saturday by accident. Luckily we didn't stay long on Saturday so it was fine when our tickets ran out. -If you have small children, you really only need a half day or 1 full day here. There aren't enough rides to keep them busy much longer after that. So plan to explore the mall as well or visit other areas of the city...in my opinion. -You can rent a stroller from the mall if you need to, they are really nice strollers! read more

I absolutely LOVED IT here. Fun for all ages. You don't need the unlimited wristband unless you plan on riding over and over.... small kids don't pay on big rides and chaperones don't pay on kiddie rides so we had extra tickets left for the next day. I bought tickets for 3 of us instead of wristbands because I didn't know how my kids would react to the rides and 84 tickets was enough for us. The characters were my favorite. My two year old enjoyed meeting her favorite characters and well as it was nostalgic for my 13 year old. They had an amazing light show finale at night to close the park. I will return peak season. Off peak they rotate times for the rides and you don't get as many character ops. Two rides were out of commission due to maintenance but still 5 star because it made up for it with everything else that was there to do. They have toddler tuesdays where toddlers get discounted wristbands. Paw patrol adventure bay was one of our favorites to do. read more

Love Nickelodeon Universe! This is a really good amusement park that's indoors but it's pretty comparable to all the outdoor ones. It's an awesome place to visit especially when it's below 0 degrees frigid tempretures outside during the winter time in MInnesota! I LOVE their special events! Yesterday, for New Year's eve I was there for the New Year's eve "New Year's Eve Moonlit Circus" where my friends and I were entertained by the Xelias Aerial Studio which included contortion, juggling, unicycle and aerial fabric performances! Nickelodeon Universe is definitely fun, especially if you're an adrenaline junkie like me, but after a couple of hours, you just find yourself exhausted and not wanting to return. Don't get me wrong...I highly encourage anyone wanting to try some of the rides here to do it. Rock Bottom Plunge, for instance, is an incredible roller coaster! Unfortunately, not all of the rides are as fun. Some are pretty bland and/or boring, and wait times can get really long (i.e. 45 minutes for the log flume). These waits are further exacerbated by the unclean feel of the place, with several children running around/touching everything and poor acoustics amplifying their screams. In fact, I'm not so sure I have ever seen anyone cleaning the place. Further, the staff is not very warm and welcoming. Many are cold/harsh or do not even look/check your safety when you board a ride. They are also very harsh at some children for doing things like not standing behind a yellow line, for instance. Of course, there are definitely some redeeming factors, such as some of the aforementioned rides. And if you can come during a non-crowded time, it is definitely fun. But at nearly $50/person for the small collection of rides, I cannot say it's something I would actively seek out every time I visit. read more

One of the best places to enjoy at MOA. Rides for the whole family and it's indoors!!! Log ride, roller coasters, thrill rides, chill sit and relax rides as well. You can't really get this anywhere else and still be able to shop in the US. I bought a deal package where I can also go to the crayola experience and all day pass at the Nickelodeon park. Well worth it. Was basically at the mall from 12p-9:30p with breaks in between to eat and still got on most rides 2-5 times. If you want to zip line I paid an additional $13 to zip and walk the course and slide. I had to, it's been a very long time in doing those 2 activities. Overall the weekdays are gonna be super fun and less people, weekends the park and mall are crazy packed so choose what you want to deal with on wait times or how many rides you want to be able to experience. But overall an amazing place to visit if not a local. read more

When I was a kid riding the rides at the mall of America was one of my favorite things to do. Now that I'm alot older, I got myself a ticket and went on all the rides I went on as a kid. Most of the rides are still there which is great. Especially the log ride. What I don't like are the children there. They keep line hopping making our line wait alot longer. The lines are slow any way to deal with. It's horrible waiting for the log ride! I still enjoy going on all the rides so I'm never too old for that. Some stuff you have to pay for to ride which isn't included on the rides pass which is insanity. Best way to enjoy the rides is come here when it's the morning and go on every ride. Cool to be indoors and beat the outdoor weather. Staff not the friendliest, especially those at the ticket counter. Wish rides were listed on map / brochure of ones riders under different height requirements could do. This would make it much easier than having to look at every ride on the map to see if the little riders can go. Having a list by the ticket counter of rides open for different heights would be helpful in knowing which ticket to purchase. Our 6 year old was only able to do 1 of the main big rides, which was disappointing but understand there are height requirements for safety reasons. He was able to ride Space Mountain and several others at Disney, but hardly any rides here. Don't recommend for those under 6 years or under the height requirements. Would be better off at one of the two putt-putt golf course or The Crayola Experience. read more

An absolutely astounding theme park all around. This park was definitely worth the five hour drive up here alone! I should probably start off with that I had thoroughly planned for this trip, so that will reflect my outlook on this park. I also visited the park the day (1/3/2024) that children in Minnesota were back in school after Winter Break so lines were nonexistent. (I would recommend it heavily especially because the website for the park shows when certain rides will be closed for scheduled maintenance. That one feature could just save you from visiting when your #1 to-do attraction is closed.) First off, the rides are spectacular. You have four awesome coasters and a decent flat ride collection with a few stand-outs. SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge is the only Euro-Fighter in the Midwest (and the only 410-model to be built), and even though Monster at Adventureland is steeper, This one still provides a unique experience. However, I've only seen this coaster using one train (even in videos of the ride) when they have 5-6 trains just sitting there, so I bet the lines can slow to a crawl on busy days. That being said, that entrance is simply glorious. A "MY EYES!!" reference will do quite nicely here. Next up, is Fairly Odd Coaster. What makes this coaster special is that it was the first-of-its-kind to ever exist. Plus, as of the year that I visited, the ride was in its 20th season of operation so that made it even more special in my eyes. I rode on the lighter side of the vehicle though, and my views SUCKED! I got barely any spinning, and I was always facing in the worst direction possible! Main point: Ride on the heavier side. Do be warned that this coaster easily had the longest line in the park not just at one time of day but 24/7. I assume it's the appeal of a tall family coaster or spinning coasters being fairly rare in the Midwest. Either way, now you know. Avatar Airbender is a unique coaster (believe it or not - it's considered a coaster!) that made you feel as it you were going to burst out of the ceiling of the Mall. It's a great source of some airtime and the spinning (when it actually spun a lot) added an extra delightful layer to this ride. The spinning can really vary depending on a variety of factors, like weight, placement of people, etc. My perception of the ride is hampered due to the fact that it was the only ride while I was at the park that broke down. Even after it was fixed, some restraints were broken so the ride had to operate at reduced capacity. Pepsi Orange Streak was a mildly thrilling, long, and scenic coaster that gave you a grand tour of the park. It reminded me of a Mine-Train coaster but instead of being close to the ground, you were up in the air. Even better, the ride went through the Log Chute (more on that later) ride so you could wave hello to the people on the ride. The coaster's second lift hill was also in the Log Chute area which I thought was neat since it was pretty dark while you were going up the lift hill. As for Back at the Barnyard Hayride, it's nothing to write home about. I just rode it for the coaster credit. I will admit that in the back row, those turns can be a little whippy. I hope that Triple-Five re-themes this ride since most kids nowadays have no idea what Back at the Barnyard is. The stand-out non-coaster ride is easily Log Chute. Sure, it may not be themed to Nickelodeon but the ride has been at the park since the park opened. To begin, I thought this coaster was going to be closed (since the website said the ride only operated on weekends) but I soon learned (thankfully) that the ride was going to be operating from Noon until close! I do have to commend the park for changing the schedule of such an amazing attraction. The ride was a little creepy since I rode it alone and the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox (supposedly) Animatronics were un-moving, adding to the creepy-factor. I did like how at the top of the two drops, there were employees at a stand to operate the ride properly. I appreciate the park keeping this aspect of the attraction alive as it felt like going back in time since most log flumes do not do this anymore due to staffing issues and all that. Speaking of the drops, they were wet but not too wet. My advice is to take off everything that you don't need so that you still have clothes that are dry and can warm you up. For example, if you are wearing a sweatshirt with a t-shirt underneath, take the sweatshirt off but keep the t-shirt on so that clothing that doesn't have to get soaked gets soaked. My favorite flat rides were Brain Surge (a ride based on a TV show that nobody really knows about that has lost media but aired when this park was transformed into Nickelodeon Universe so that's why it's themed to the TV show) and TMNT Shell Shock, a rare Gerstlauer Sky Fly that is fortunately becoming more common in the Midwest. Overall, I would DEFINITELY recommend visiting this park, whoever you are. I will be back! read more

Much like the carousel- everything comes full circle. I have not really been to the park since it was Camp Snoopy and I was rockin' some 90s attire, but my little one just turned 2 so we thought we would load up the family truckster and head to the park with grandma and grandpa. The park is pretty much the same with the exception of the name and some more rides. We only rode on two of the rides since our little guy was still too small to enjoy many of them. We rode the carousel which he seemed to like. It's one ticket for him and then one adult can ride for free. A single ticket is around $4.00 which is not too bad ;same as other places. Then we made the mistake of taking him on the little bus that we thought just went around in a circle. Our fault. Even though he loves and calls every vehicle a bus, he could not wait to get off this bus. It has a bit of a drop which he hated and was shaking like a leaf. At one point it looked as though he was trying to jump out. My little one who just turned 2 hated that thing. Most of the other kids were a little bit bigger that he and they seemed to like it; mine didn't. The park is clean, offers a variety of rides for all of the ages and now they have a zip line thingy to go zipping across the park which is kind of cool. Can purchase tickets at the kiosks or at a counter where they tell you about being able to ride for free with the little kids. I imagine it's a nice option in the winter to break up the monotony of having to be inside. read more

For being an amusement park inside of a mall, it is of considerable size. There are 27 rides and attractions available, and a good number of them are ok for very young children to ride. We took our two year old and got to ride with him at no extra cost for us, we just had to pay for his tickets. He mostly enjoyed the carousel, but he also rode the school bus, race cars and train. If rides are not for your kid there is a large park based on paw patrol. The time limit to play is about 20 minutes and there is usually a line, which is made a bit longer because of there cleaning process in between each play session. read more

Given my Husband works for an airlines company, we decided to take the kids on a day trip to Nickelodeon Universe. It reminded me of a similar indoor theme lark we have in Vegas except that obviously this is Nickelodeon themed. I have two kids they both enjoyed this trip most especially my little one who loves the many Nickelodeon characters. The wait times for rides were surprisingly fast. I longest we waited was 15 minutes! I would recommend buying the all day/unlimited wrist bands for $36.99 versus buying one point based. Smaller rides are 3 points and bigger rides are 6 points. We saw that 3 points cost $3.XX. Makes more sense in buying the all day/unlimited wristbands. read more

My inner child might have gotten a little too excited for Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America... We grabbed our wrist-bands and headed straight for the Fairly Odd Coaster. I enjoyed this one a lot! You got to spin your cart around so you were going backwards, sideways, and every which way throughout the ride. Def fitting for a ride based on the Fairly Odd Parents. Next up was the Log Chute. What log ride in Minnesota is complete without a giant animatronic Paul Bunyon and Babe? None. This was a blast. Much more low-key than some of the other rides we went on. There are TWO separate waterfall drops after you get guided throughout the mazes. You will get a little wet - so keep that in mind. Then we hopped on the Pepsi Orange Streak. This was fun and more of a traditional small coaster. I love that it went all over (from above) the Nickelodeon Universe; so you could see everything. Lastly, two of us chose to give the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge a whirl. Maybe this pushed my poor thirty year old body over its limit. I got off with a killer headache. Our biggest draw to this was that you are literally raised vertically to the ceiling and then dropped and whipped around the track. Yeesh. Even thinking about it makes my head hurt again! Love the concept of an amusement park inside a mall. Def worth checking out Nickelodeon Universe if roller coasters are your thing - or if you're with a group who loves (and drags you) to ride them. An indoor amusement park smack dab in the middle of Mall of America! Hey it ain't Disneyland but you still can have tons of fun. The kids had a blast riding Nickelodeon themed rides and also getting photo ops with their favorite Nickelodeon characters such as Dora, Paw Patrol etc. They sell unlimited ride wristbands for like $20 as well as individual ride tickets. Ticket counters and kiosks conveniently located at the entrances to Nickelodeon Universe. There you can purchase wristbands as well. My favorite rides were the Avatar Airbender, the water log ride, and the Ninja Turtles ride. Also a good fact to know that is if you have a toddler, they can ride most of the kiddie rides as long as there is a parent or older sibling with them. In addition, the parent can ride for free (no need for wristband) if they are taking the toddler on the ride as a "chaperone." Outstanding place. My family and I went for four consecutive days. We had a great time. There is something there for everyone. Even if you are not a big fan of amusement park type rides, there is a ride there that fits your type. Any age group is guaranteed to enjoy themselves. We took the kids here to blow off some energy and have a great time while I was in town! The kids were super psyched for the rides and the Dutchman's Deck Adventure Course. We split up and purchased some ride tickets and then you also have to pay separate for the ropes course. There is plenty of photo op's on the rope and zipline course. We paid $16.00 for the rope and zipline course which really was a couple hours of enjoyment for her. Ride tickets go faster and they offer a couple of different options from an all day wrist band that isn't transferable to a point pass that can be shared. It's super cliche and a tourist trap but is good for what it is. All of the staff members working the rides were super sweet and the pricing packages can be worked well for kids just wanting to do a couple rides or for a family wanting to ride all day. If you pre-purchase on-line you get a little discount so, plan your day and save some money! read more

This place is awesome and we are a family that has been to Disney multiple times (so we know theme parks). Exceeded my expectations with the quality of rides and barely no wait times. There are rides for little kids (toddlers) but mostly you come here for the fun, thrill rides. An all day pass is definitely the best way to go and you can find coupons throughout the mall for $5 off (in the big coupon book they sell for $10 or online). My kids had a blast and so did we! Very unique amusement park found in the middle of Mall of America. There are about 15 rides to check out. The theme is cartoon characters from Nickelodeon. So you would think there only have kiddie rides but be prepared!! They have a few really fast rides. I love roller coasters so I can contest they are quite entertaining and you gotta check it out. Big rides are 7 points and small kids rides are 3 points. You buy points ahead of time on a ticket first. You then can walk around and decide which rides to take and they will deduct your points as you go. They also offer unlimited ride passes. My fav ride is the Avatar Airbender. The ride straps you down on round turning seats to a skate board. While the huge skate board slides up and down, back and forth at a very fast speed; your seat is always spinning around in circles. I was screaming while the boys were yelling. Lol.. I can't compare that roller coaster to anything at 6 flags magic mountain! One of my best roller coaster experience that I will never forget! I actually kinda like this place. The kids really like it - so I'm in. Things to know: Pros: It's air conditioned and heated - yet still filled with sunlight from the overhead windows. It's a lot cleaner then the out door variety. It's kind of costly - but then what theme park isn't? If you only plan on being there for a couple of hours just get a set of points. The rides are rated by height so realistically you can figure your points based on the height of your intended riders. They are posted at the park in various locations but they are also available on the website for planning purposes. Cons: The only character we saw was Spongebob and that was for an additional fee. The location being the mall itself can be difficult to navigate - especially if your kids get over excited along the way. read more
