The jeans were made of 18oz Japanese selvedge denim and was expensive, so I was reluctant on going to a nearby tailor thinking that they would mess it up. I told her I wanted it to be touching the ground and a little longer for shrinkage and so it would stack nicely on boots/shoes. As you can see in the picture, the hem was done beautifully (ignore the red marker, I tried to do it myself at first). Would definitively come here again as the turnaround was fast and the price was very cheap.

The trimmed ends look clean and straight. I have not hung them up yet but they appear to be the correct length. So I'm a happy customer. Super fair prices (per dress only $10 for a hemming and $15 to sew in a new slip plus small alteration on straps), cash only, and quick turnaround. I came here pretty desperate to get three bridesmaid dresses hemmed. Nancy was amazing at addressing my needs and concerns with the dresses. She said some of them could do with a slight alteration at the straps and even explained if we wanted to get a longer slip how to make that possible. She explained what type of fabric we would need and how she could sew that in. We went with just the hemming, but, later, I decided to try to add the slip and bought some fabric at JoAnn's. I went back to Nancy to see what she thought and she said "no problem." So easygoing and straightforward. I got my dresses back last week and they look great! One note-- I was kind of concerned after reading the reviews since I don't speak Chinese, but I had no problems at all! Nancy is on the shy, soft-spoken side, but has no problem communicating about the alteration.

Ruben is an artist and an engineer when it comes to tailoring. He's wonderful with delicate or…read moreotherwise fussy fabrics and notoriously difficult fixes, like alterations to jacket shoulders. I had a delicate alpaca sweater that had come unraveled at the seam; he fixed so expertly you can't tell it was mended. Some of the other reviews have expressed surprise at the cost of alterations, but as someone who's had experience with tailoring and garment design, I can say that a lot of tailoring that may seem easy is actually extremely difficult and time consuming. When I come to Ruben, I know my clothing is in good hands and I know I'm getting a fair price. Ruben's beloved father taught him the trade beginning in childhood, so tailoring is a family tradition and a point of intense pride. I'm so grateful to have this wonderful business in the neighborhood. Whomever takes Ruben's place will have big shoes to fill.

Owner jumped right into swapping it out, when his partner (brother?) came in, he jumped into my second watch. $5 dollars per watch, partner made sure to set both times and dates for me before handing it to me. $10 cash. As I'm noticing now, I know I had a dirty backplate/edge, saw him cleaning that off for me. They take pride in their care. Son took over the business from the dad. Business has been here since the 70's. Definitely coming back with my watch and jewelry needs. They told me their specialty is custom jewelry work but their mainstay is repairs.
