Don't go here if you have an option, so i called them about chest pain and ask them for getting a eco cardio gram test done, and the scheduler is rude cutting you and asking you to first take an appointment when ever a doctor is available, I asked I'm having a pain now, but the scheduler was rude and finally after some back and forth I secured an appointment tomorrow with doctor Bryker. I have been a patient of Dr. Flanzman, primary care, 4 Stars. I wholeheartedly value her medical opinion & expertise on all my concerns, in addition she has seasoned bedside manner (calm disposition and direct). I'm a new patient of Dr. Rosalie, Gyno, so far I'm happy. I came from a really bad situation and she is very reassuring, her staff NA, Carmen, is pleasant and polite. And AMY, is a gem. She stayed on the phone with me for 47 mins as to ensure that the script was sent and received on the receiving end, because we kept getting fax error messages. Critique of of Practice (2 Stars): I absolutely can't get lucky in this area, 212-445-1660, is the worse. You will never get a hold of Ste. 311, which is baffling because they are FULLY staffed when you go into the office. The office administrators and clinical staff appear very unorganized, slow in response time and lack efficiency. The message receivers, whom are not located onsite, will be the only option if you don't live near the office. I had results that came in over a week ago, and I had to call multiple times to check in on them, and then when I could finally get a staff member on the phone, they told me they got lost in the mix of papers. Are you kidding me, Unacceptable. All the competent medical personnel must have retired. In the medical world, things are actually Life & Death. But I guess if its not yours, then other people just don't matter enough. That's the message Bergen Medical sends. I started with this group few years back and i liked it. However, its pretty awful when you are sick your told that your Primary is booked out thru January. I've been told i cannot have an appointment with my primary for medical clearance because she is booked for months. Sorry no one can see you in the Paramus office the next day because everyone is booked. Zero patient empathy. I will be searching for a new primary. read more

Very disappointed... Called in when feeling sick, was told I would get a call back from my doctor. After waiting about 3 hours, I called back again. Was told I would need to call back the following morning for a same day sick appointment. When I called for a same day appointment I was told I would have to have a telehealth appointment in a few hours bc sick patients are not allowed in the office. At my scheduled appointment, I was told the system was down so it would just be a phone call. The worst billing dept I have ever dealt with. Had to call billing dept 6 months in a row for the same issue.

I dislike calling some central office (3rd part) that sets up the appointment instead of speaking with the actual doctor office directly. STAY AWAY. This is the WORST experience I have EVER had with a medical facility / office. My experience was only with an initial consultation I had with the doctor (Litvin) - who was picked only because he was in-network. Well, upon my interview, I was quick to notice he doesn't LISTEN. In addition, he was JUDGMENTAL, and had is own AGENDA - and started getting AGITATED when I started on the topic of HRT and modern medicine. The office also has problems. They failed to properly notify me of information that led to excessive costs that I am now responsible for - because of their ineptitude and failure to notify properly - all "for the convenience of our customers!" And if you call them on it, and you get a particular receptionist, you'll get your @ss handed to you (I'm not impressed, lady). Wait until you start hitting up the billing department - what a soap opera episode you'll find there... Lots of back and forth getting nowhere - brush up on your volleyball.... There seems to be a pattern in the many of the reviews both here and on Google....and this facility should understand it is people's LIVES they are responsible for - and if they cannot perform the simple, basic things properly, who can trust how they are looking after your HEALTH properly. By far the best office of all of them. from check in to check out everything runs smoothly. the other plus of this practice is that they seem to have a doctor for everything so all your needs are met. If I could give this facility zero stars, I would. I have NEVER in all my days seen such horrible "doctors". A very sick family member went to see a gastro doctor here. He was treated as though he was nothing more than a nuisance. 15 minutes after his appointment started he was ushered out with the comment "if you don't feel better in a couple of months, call us back." That was the first doctor he saw. His issues got worse and worse so he made appointments with several other gastro doctors in this practice. (he took appointments with whoever was available the soonest because he was that sick). One was worse than the next. The worst offender was Holly Cullen. I have never seen a more dismissive, egotistical doctor in my entire life. She acted like being in her presence was a gift and we should be completely in awe of her. She wouldn't answer questions. She actually put her hand up to "shush" us when we had the audacity to question something. Garbage. She did absolutely NOTHING to help my family member, other than pass him off to another doctor because she had no idea what to do. He was treated horribly. Not one of these doctors wanted to take the time to figure out what was wrong with him. Meanwhile he was getting more and more sick as the days past. This is someone's life they are dealing with and they couldn't care less. Meanwhile, within days his insurance company was billed 500.00 dollars for a 15 minute appointment. Over and over again. They made absolute sure that they got a ridiculous amount of money for doing absolutely nothing. I could go on and on about the experience in this place but I will stop. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go here. There are plenty of doctors out there that will treat you like a human being. This is not that place. read more

So...I've been feeling really off lately and called 3 weeks ago to request some specific thyroid blood tests at my regularly scheduled yearly physical. I called again 3 days before my appointment to confirm the thyroid/blood tests. It was pretty important to me to have them done. The day of my appointment, I fasted from 10 am until my 4:30 appointment. After the perfunctory exam I was sent to another room to get blood work and was told that the lab CLOSED!?! She saw me and said, "Oh, I thought we were done for the night." The blood lab manager (?) told me to call and reschedule. No. I will not call to reschedule. Have been waiting 2 weeks to get a prescription filled. Have left 5 messages, spoken to three different individuals who told me they were "sending Dr. Dietz an urgent message," and wrote an email, to no avail. Looks like I'm making a trip to the ER. Yesterday I called to speak to a doctor about bug bites on my right arm between wrist and elbow. True I did ask for a particular doctor as I have been a patient there for a lot of years. I had welts on my arm and in many places it was swollen. I waited and waited and then someone got back on the phone to say this particular doctor would call back. Asked to speak to another doctor but I guess that was not allowed. The long and the short of it was I went to the local pharmacy to see what I could get to relieve the itch and swelling. I however did not tell them that I had called the doctors office first. Looked around and found something I thought would alleviate the itchiness and swelling. It was now one hour after I left a message for the doctor. To make a long story a little shorter today - over 24 hours after I called that office I received a telephone call saying they called in a prescription and I could go get it. This was after I purchased what I thought would alleviate the itchiness and swelling yesterday. My arm is still "itchy" and the welts have gone down considerably. I would never go back to that practice in Emerson and that doctor. Too bad really!!! read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Bhandari and felt like I was wasting his time. I called the office and he had an availability the same day so clearly he was not that busy. His bedside manners are horrible and he told me if I wanted an answer I should go to the emergency room. I'm sorry but I did not go to medical school and was looking for help with pain in my abdomen. I did however go to FIT and have been in the fashion industry for 20 plus years, therefore I would recommend for you not to wear a navy suit with red socks and clogs. This office is a disaster! My doctor left the practice unexpectedly and not one letter or email or phone call was given to me to let me know. I had called to make an appointment and some staff member happened to tell me my doctor was no longer practicing at this office. I had to take it upon myself to find another allergist and start from scratch after an entire year of receiving allergy shots there. Then another encounter!!!! I needed my medical records I had asked for them to fax it to me directly but because of there policy they can't do that which I think is absolutely ridiculous! WHAT CRACKS ME UP ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT THEY ARE SO QUICK TO SEND OUT A BILLING INVOICE REQUESTING THEY GET PAID, BUT WHEN A DOCTOR LEAVES THE PRACTICE NOT 1 PHONE CALL OR EMAIL IS SENT OUT TO THE PATIENTS NOTHING GETS DONE. Wonderful practice. I had a colonoscopy with Dr. Pittman and have only great things to say about this facility from the minute you step into the clinic until you leave. Everyone from the receptionists to the nurses, the anesthesiologist and of course Dr. Pittman himself conducted themselves in an excellent professional manner. They are very caring, making sure you do not leave the clinic until the effects of the anesthesia wear out, making sure you are not driving yourself home and by calling you the following day to make sure you are okay. They also explain all the prep process in a clear manner and answer any questions you may have about the prep or the procedure. I recommend this place and Dr. Pittman - who had been referred to me by another excellent practitioner - wholeheartedly and without hesitation read more

Terrible to my mother. Literally wrote her off because she was elderly. I was shocked because she had an easily fixable issue but they literally had the power to say no and she was at the mercy of the long term acute care hospital nightmare so she only had them for the one doctor group . Thank God I got her out of there and now she got the help she needed. They simply wrote her off. She would have died from gastric problems. Although, the physicians I have been to at this practice are excellent , the office staff and office protocol have a lot to be desired ... patients are treated very disrespectfully and are nothing more than a $ sign to this practice ...getting any practioner to return a call is almost impossible ..the office staff says they gave the practioner the message and yet the practioner says they never received it ... This practice is all about volume, from physicians to staff, none care about patients.

This place has become a factory. You go from receptionist to insurance person on the phone. They care more about your insurance than your actual issue. Hard to get appointments now because they are just too big. Nurses don't call you back. For primary care, we will be looking elsewhere and for sick visits we will be going to urgent Care. Better hours, better service. Bergen Gastro needs to reevaluate their priorities. read more

Very easy to make an appointment and doctors are great BUT it is impossible to get in touch with billing department to discuss bills that keep coming months after the initial visit. Every time I called it goes to voice mail, left several messages, did not get a call back even once. When I did get in touch with someone they took my info and promised to call me back within 1 business day and its been a month, no calls. I will see other doctors for that reason only. :( read more

This practice has changed considerably in the last couple of years. If finding out test results is important to you, this is not the medical practice for you. You can literally drop dead waiting for results. No one will call you. You can leave message after message and, nothing. Very disappointing and frustrating. read more

I have been going here for years. I see my regular Internist who is Excellent and I see one of the Gastroenterology Doctors. Love them both. Very Attentive. Of course for regular appointments there is generally a wait. But to be honest the doctors that are able to stay on "time" are usually the doctors that you better ask your questions quickly or they boot you out. I would rather wait for a Doctor who takes their time to listen to me, then be rushed by a doctor who is trying to stay on time. Yes, it is a big practice but that has advantages as well as downfalls. read more

I went here to discuss colon issues and my need for surgery on my rectum: the doctor simply shrugged and said, "Oh, I don;t know anything about that." She made it seem like my issues were my fault. Been with them for over 10 years. My primary is there along with my neurologist and my gastro doctor. Pretty easy to get an appointment for urgent needs, but there is a long wait for ordinary things like a physical. Doctors are very nice and so is the staff. The Emerson office parking is horrible. Montvale and Paramus are better. The Emerson office is a bit hectic so I'd advise using Paramus or Montvale as it seems to be calmer. I can honestly say i've never felt rushed during appointments. read more

I love my dr. that I see there for myself and for my daughter. She is very professional and helpful. However, the staff there is horrible. They are rude and even more so on the phone. To get a message to the dr. is like pulling teeth. I leave 3 nasty messages before receiving a call back. In my opinion, if a nurse is calling you (not the dr.) with your blood test results asking questions about missing doses of my medication, etc. per the dr., and if i have a question on what medication the dr. is referring to being there is more than 1 medication involved, i think my question is valid and I deserve a call back from the dr. since the nurse has no idea what medicine the dr. is referring to as well. Why does it take 3 nasty phone calls until i get a call back? Your office called me with a question, I cannot answer that question without know what medication you are speaking of. I get the run around saying the dr. will be in tomorrow at 11, sounding as though I will get a phone call back at that time, when in fact she is there later than that. So when I call back again, I am made to feel as though I am the hound!! Please, if you love your dr. there, then try to deal with the BS that comes with it. Otherwise, if not, there are many drs out there with a MUCH better staff. I have other dr's that I see, and their staff are as pleasant as can be and very accommodating to me. The staff at this Emerson office are ruining the reputation of the drs. Very Sad. read more
