I would like to say Opulent Hair Salon is a very upbeat and up to date with the trends. Their staff is very friendly they go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and comfortable offering drinks and snacks. I regret going to Opulent in Palos Heights. I wanted to try a new salon and they 100% ruined my hair and still charged me $90. I have blonde hair and went in to get highlights and also add a few lowlights for dimension. She didn't do any highlights and when I sat in front of the mirror after washing my hair was brown with blonde blotches. After being there for 4hours they tried to fix it by stripping my hair and adding literally 6 highlights on top. My hair is still brown with an orange tint. I cannot emphasize how terrible my experience was and how they tried to downplay it. They offered to "fix" it if I wanted to go back in (for hours) but you can see from the pictures what a "fix" looks like. I've never posted a negative review on here until today. I cannot emphasize how terrible the overall experience was and still told that I had to pay. read more

Chloe and the staff here were great! I brought my daughter and it was her first time getting a hair cut at a hair salon. She had a great time and she loved her hair cut. But the staff were accommodating, friendly, all smiles. They even gave my daughter a snack and gave me a laptop pad for me to use while I was there. This place is so incredibly awesome! It's a damn shame they aren't booming with reviews & just the overall accolade they so so so deserve. I had been going to the technician, Kat, at a much more mainstream salon for some time & decided I'd follow her & give it a shot. Grateful is an understatement. Deciding to go w Kat's intuition since she rly is very knowledgeable about the whole world/field of cosmetics/beauty was to no surprise such a wonderful decision. From the atmosphere, to the quality of work, to the complementary touch of pampering you w fresh sangria, coffee, little snacks, I just love it. Hard pass. This salon looks cute and nicely decorated, but I was put off by the fact that no one was masked. We're still in a pandemic and yet everyone's acting like it never happened. You have people talking and coughing in a small confined space--and as someone who recently recovered from cancer I can't take such an irresponsible risk. Why are salons and spas that claim to focus on health and beauty the worst offenders when it comes to following and respecting basic scientific information. Go elsewhere with less attitude and find a salon where their stylists wear masks. read more

Had an incredible experience having my extensions replaced. My initial extension experience was rough and came with little explanation. They hurt and were difficult to wash 2 weeks in. Amanda walked me through the process, the care and maintence schedule. I drove an hour out of the city to have them done. The difference in application was night and day. If you're considering extensions, this is the place to go if keeping your hair and scalp healthy is a priority. The before and after speaks for itself! They made a convert out of me. read more

Edwin is the most rude, ignorant, and snobby person I have ever met! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I wish I had the option to give ZERO stars. I met him a few weeks ago for a consultation. He did a stand test and said he could achieve the look I desired, so I booked an appointment. The following day he text me and said he changed his mind and couldn't achieve the look. He said he wanted to put me on a 3 month treatment of Olaplex, which I agreed to, prior to color. My roots needed a touch up because of an upcoming wedding. I contacted the the salon and another stylist was recommended to simply touch up only the roots, not the rest of the hair which had previously been lightened. I contacted Edwin with an inquiry about Olaplex. He was so upset that I went to another stylist for a root touch up that he refused to work with me. I explained that someone from Opulent recommended another stylist for the root touch up. I was never told not to get my roots touched up. This shows that he was only interested in getting as much money from me as possible. This was completely unprofessional and rude. To make matters worse, he text me this, "I don't think I'm a good fit for you. My clients trust me 100 percent. That's why their hair looks the way it does. I'm sure you will find the stylist for you." What a snob! He wasted my time and it seemed like he had issues with the other stylist who did my roots and he took it out on me. People like this should not choose a job that involves working with others. read more

I only got to go here once before relocating out of the area. I had a job interview and was desperate for a new hair do. I found the groupon and was able to get an appointment pretty fast. The location is a little odd in a plaza with doctors offices and other businesses. But I found it after some searching. I was early because I had another appointment end early. I came in and asked if I should come back and go run more errands, and they said that the person I was seeing would be right with me. Cool, I thought my appointment would begin a little early and get me out the door sooner. About 45 minutes went by and I was offered beverages and asked if I needed anything. I could have gotten a few errands done instead of sitting and staring bored at the decor. It's nicely decorated, but the high fashion style is a little intimidating. I came in yoga pants and a t shirt and felt like a boy with so many fashion orientated women around. Once my appointment started, I really like the women doing my hair. She was super friendly and nice and made the rest of my experience much better. I just wished I would have gone to do errands and came back at the appointment time rather than go in and ask. I'd definitely come back and give them another try. They seem to be great for special events and weddings as well. It may not have been a perfect fit for me personally but this place probably makes lots feel right home with their hospitality. read more

Yesterday was my first experience with this salon...and let me tell you how impressed I was. Great customer service- everyone was very pleasant and helpful. My stylist was Kristen and she was beyond awesome. I went in to have a balayage done for the first time, mind you my hair is colored black. Kristen was very reassuring and answered all my questions, which helped me to be more comfortable with the changes happening with my hair. It turned out great and I'm so happy with the results. I found this place on yelp and thought I'd give it a shot since it had great reviews. I had hair past my waist and showed pictures that were about to the end of my scapula with long layering and also stating I definitely needed to be able to pull all of it back. Before we started the wash, my stylist decided to do the major cut before. Right away I thought it may have been too short but unfortunately I kept quiet and thought she knew what she was doing with it. Long story short my hair is just at my shoulder - way way way too short. It feels way thinner than the start which I guess was called texturing. I can't pull it al back without tons of hair falling out within 15 minutes. The only thing I found I was able to speak up about was the awful blowout that was too embarrassing to walk out the salon with. I understand I should have spoken up right after the first cut but I just knew there was no going back after that. Although the staff and my stylist was super nice, I don't know if I'd recommend this place to a friend. If you do come for a haircut I would definitely make sure there's a ton of communication. read more

So I found this salon on groupon and than right after looked them up on Instagram and was impressed with all of their pictures. So I booked an appointment with Jesse who didn't take the groupon, but I didn't mind because I liked her work. She was very friendly and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately , I went in with highlights and came out with ashy brown hair . I was so upset with how it turned out and called immediately after and told her that it looked nothing like the balayage picture I had shown. They got me in immediately and Jesse just put in a different toner. It looked a little better but still nothing like I wanted. Third time was a charm I guess when Brooke saved the day and did exactly what I had asked for. I was so happy with what she did and it's what I wanted all along. They really do want you to be happy with your hair and will work with you until you are, which I really appreciated. I wanted to try a new location closer to home, so I read the reviews and looked at the girls profiles to see some of their work. I had a balayage and a cut. The stylist I had is no longer working there, so I won't bother leaving her name. I will not be returning to this salon. While I thought the sylist was very personable and likable, I did not like the final cut I had or the overall color of the balayage. I have very dark hair, and the ends of my hair ended up with a straw color. There was very litle gradient or gradual transition of coloring, it went from dark to a yellow straw color...very little blending or gradient of color in the middle. Also, the layers that I wanted put into my hair were choppy and uneven. I have a huge chunk of hair taken from the back of my head near the center that does not blend with the other layers, its like she slipped with the scissors or razor. I had asked that she do light layers that would add movement to my hair, I didn't receive that either. The layers are heavy, choppy and blunt, there is no feathering or blending. I went back to my old stylist, lesson learned, you should have seen the look of horror on her face when she saw my hair, I was actually really embarassed. She ended up recoloring my hair back to its natural color, and tried to even out the layers. Thankfully hair grows back, so hopefully in a few months I will be happier with my hair. read more
