We ordered an al pastor burrito and had it smothered with chile verde so we got the added Pico, pineapple, cilantro, and deliciousness inside. The flavors were fresh and bold! For anyone who is sensitive: my husband found the chile verde sauce to be a little too spicy for him. I thought it was great! My only complaint was that I would have liked the burrito to be a little hotter temperature-wise overall. We live nowhere near, but we would absolutely come back! The Mexican food here is decent but not superb. I was craving crisp crunchy shredded beef tacos and instead got street tacos. I also thought the rice lacked flavor and the beans were really runny with lard. This is me being ultra critical. Would I come here again? Sure! It's close to my work and hits the spot. This is one of those places I wish I could give an additional half star because it's very good for the area but not superb. Quality tacos in Salt Lake are rare to find but Nico's does a great job. I often get the special which includes 5 tacos and a drink for $11 which is a great deal. The carne asada is solid, decent chunks of meat and doesn't have all the extra fat that cheap place add as a filler. The real winner is the carnitas, which are tender and juicy. Salsas do need a bit of work in terms of flavor and spicy but they are serviceable. The seating is very limited inside but with nice weather there is additional benches outside. The service hear is wonderful, attentive and friendly. If you're nearby and want a good taco, look no further. read more

Hands down the best little hidden gem in SLC. Located near the fair park adjacent to the KOA, Nico's serves up phenomenal Mexican food. I had to go with the specialty - Barbacoa ls Borrega (lamb tacos) plus a big bowl of soup. Amazingly delicious. We also had Fajitas, carne asada Enchilada burrito & taco salad with chicken. We were staying at the KOA and Nico's is a one minute walk from the KOA office. We walked over and a friendly lady brought us a menu outside. We decided to wait till we got back to the campsite to call in an order. The service was fast, and wonderful. I asked what meat the woman preferred to go on their taco salad and she said she liked the shredded beef. I went with that and I would say it was the best taco salad I have had. Chips, salsas, presentation, an Arnold Palmer and special requests were all handled with a smile. After the intros, a perfectly executed, flavorful Mexican meal was delivered. We stopped here at the KOA Kampground on our trek home to Oklahoma. The restaurant is located right next door. The ambiance was rustic and very clean. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. My wife got the pork tamales and said the green sauce was the bomb. My SIL and BIL had the street tacos and they said they were very tasty. I had the carne asada tacos and they included a chipotle sauce that I felt had some habaneros blended in. The sauce was great and has a back door kick. Located at the corner right next to the Salt Lake City KOA. So-we walk there every time we stay at the KOA. I like the simple outdoor picnic tables, limited searing inside. I really like the food! Today we had the taco and enchilada special, one all beef, one all chicken. The chicken and beef were great, good quality shredded. Taste was very good, food served hot. I tried the Enchiladas with Mole sauce and was delicious. Recommend trying. Others in our party tried the smothered burrito which all enjoyed. Quesadilla was so so. Small place might be considered a hole in the wall but worth a visit. I would eat here again. On arriving the front staff treated us less than ideally and left a bit of a bitter taste about the whole experience but we enjoyed the food nonetheless. Little spot on the corner of W N Temple and N 1460 W. It's small but packs a big punch. Daily specials are fantastic and the staff is so friendly.
