This place is great for inexpensive but tasty tacos. The service is efficient and fast. The restaurant itself looks a little older, but it gives it character. We had some carnitas and al pastor tacos for a light lunch and it perfectly hit the spot. The flavors were authentic and everything was cooked perfectly. The menu features plenty of options for larger groups/families/catering so keep that in mind if you are considering bringing tacos to a party! Totally going off Yelp reviews I ordered a 20 taco platter from here and it was good. I did half chicken and half beef. Order beef here because I had more chicken leftover and the reason was it lacked any seasoning or flavor but the beef singed. I ordered a few days in advance and pick up was an ease even tho the cashier wasn't going to honor the 10% off Yelp check in saying they weren't affiliated. I tried to explain that it's them that's offering the discount and at the end she gave it to me. Hassle tho. They gave me plenty of limes, onions, and cilantro to go with my tacos and a green and red sauce. These are street tacos so they aren't big so order accordingly. Like a warm hug from Mexico... I had PLATO DE BARBACOA, a tasty dish with tons of fork tender stewed beef served with rice and refried beans. Definitely enough for a doggie bag. We ended up at Tacos Garay while we were waiting for some car work to finish up across the street. We walk by this taco shop a lot but we've never actually gone in. We were so pleasantly surprised that this spot had some really great food and a very cozy environment. I ordered the huarache which was a little bit different style than what I expected. It almost reminds me of a navajo taco because the huarache was deep fried instead of the soft mealy style. It was so delicious! They have a really great selection of drinks but they don't sell beer despite the Corona signs on the outside. We'll definitely come back! Can't wait to try some of their other items. I could see it being difficult to find a parking spot here but on the other hand, it's very conveniently located close to Trax, bus routes, and bike routes. read more

Turns out this was a great choice, and arguably beer is available in the sense you can get carry out and take the food to TF Brewing and partake of some most excellent beer with the food. Despite arriving well after normal lunch time, the place was well populated with people who looked like this was not their first time here. I imagine there is a good set of regulars. This is a place that knows its target audience, and it's not Gringos like me. The menu is only in Spanish. That said, a combination of Google translate and a very nice server, made ordering easy. I never felt out of place, and we had a wonderful lunch. I got the truly excellent Two Cheese Chiles Rellenos. The wife went with the 3 Quesadillas Fritas. She got carne asada and two carnitas. It was also very good. There is a hot sauce that comes in a squeeze bottle put on the table next to the food. It's spicy and flavorful. It enhanced everything. This is one of those hole in the wall places that I'm always searching for! It is a family run business (yay, support small business!) with awesome, cheap, delicious food. All of my favorite things :) Service was attentive and on-point. They immediately started out with chips and salsa. The chips were nice and thick, super crispy. It also came with a green salsa that I loved so much I actually used on my tacos. I tried 3 tacos, asada, pastor, and carnitas. All of them were great but the asada was definitely my favorite, the meat was so juicy and flavorful! They have a variety of hot sauces to choose from but the house sauce is pretty tasty. The service is friendly and homey. They are very warm people. The location is on the edge of an up and coming area of the city with a brew pub and new apartments in the vicinity. Salsa was hot and bland but I ordered the large Shrimp soup. Waited over 15 minutes to be served the soup (this stuff wasn't ready). Slight flavor but as you can see pretty much broth. Great food! My friend recommended this place. He and his wife said it was some of the best pozole here. They are from a border town in AZ and said that this place is pretty legit. I came here excited to try something new. I decided on getting costilla de puerco. Man was it super good. An incredible sauce with a good amount of spice but not super spicy. First time we ate at Tacos Garay was at their food truck at TF Brewing which is across the street. Excellent food and the owner was so friendly. Since then we've been to the restaurant to eat and had an amazing carne Asada platter and shrimp ceviche. Seriously one of the best meals I've ever had! Last weekend we were at TF again and when ordering he said we can have whatever we want from the restaurant. He went to his restaurant and picked up our special order!
