I've been going to the Layton location for frozen custard for years and have usually had good experiences, which is why last night's visit was disappointing. When I went through the drive-through, the employee taking the order seemed unable to hear me clearly, and when we received our two concretes, the cups were not filled very much and the order was incorrect. There also appeared to be quite a bit of distraction and joking around among the employees behind the counter, which likely contributed to the mistakes. I expect better attention to orders and customer service, especially from a location that has done well in the past. I hope this issue is addressed so the quality and service improve. read more

Love the custard, a concrete is pint sized and more than enough to share. Food is okay, but probably not worth the wait, onion rings are our favorite. Our visit to this location was a Saturday afternoon and fortunately it wasn't busy, but our wait was still significant. The service was very slow, only 3 staff on and they were not at all motivated. We got the custard mixed with snickers for my wife and strawberry for myself. These were awesome. Can't say the same for the food. I got a double bacon cheeseburger with onion rings on it. The patties were the preformed, frozen, cheap ones. Bacon was paper thin and it lacked flavor. My wife got the "finer things" sandwich with turkey, avocado and cream cheese. She added bacon. It had good flavor but was basically a waste of money for how little avocado and bacon were on it. It COULD have been amazing. The fries were okay, but could've used more salt. Happy Nielsen's Friday! Not so much for us... We just barely got home from ordering our favorites, two concretes, one -- Cherry Chocolate Chip and the other a Chocolate Peanut Butter with Cookie Dough. And to our misfortune... BOTH under the rim. Now, I understand that it's Friday night and it's a busy night... But we dish out thirteen bucks almost EVERY weekend and this isn't the first time we've seen these results. But it will be the last. We don't mind paying thirteen dollars for a well put together signature over the rim Nielsen's concrete... But it is too much for the inconsistent inch under the rim even when MELTED concretes we have been getting. It really is a shame because we have been faithful Nielsen's customers for years. Concretes are our favorite treats. Maybe it is a new standard, but I doubt it considering the Highland, Bountiful, Las Vegas, St. George (yes, we have been to each of them) still serve to "higher" standards.
