My boyfriend and I visited Finish Line several times around Christmas for gifts for his kids as well as each other. The store was pretty chaotic and each time but Justin was always more than willing to assist even with a line of people. Of course when we went they were running low on inventory but the selection of shoes to choose from is decent. I can't speak to the value as far as how Finish Line compares to other shoe stores as I honestly don't frequent them much but I do know we both got each other OnCloud running shoes for $170. Apparently they were $10 cheaper online so when we had to exchange my boyfriend's for a bigger size, I ended up getting a $10 return.

But since I was only going to wear the shoes once, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I figured I'd head over to Capital Plaza and see what my options were. This little store is odd. There aren't really any fixtures like the shoe racks and shelving you'd normally find in a retail store. Instead, the shoe boxes are stacked up to make aisles, with one of each shoe on top of the the boxes. That made it really easy for me to glance across the store and see exactly where I needed to go. And since all the stock is out on the floor, I could spot a style I liked and immediately see below it if it was available in my size. No having to ask for help. No having to wait for someone to check in the back. Basically none of the things that usually annoy me about shoe shopping! The clerk on duty did ask if I needed help, but with the way the store was laid out, I had no trouble finding what I needed on my own. Within maybe 5 minutes, possibly less, I had the perfect pair of gold flats paid for (at an awesomely affordable price!) and I was out the door. I took my time to really get a feel of the store. I did see some nice items in the women's section, but nothing that really spoke out to me. It was a miss for me today. But maybe another day I'll find something. Austin and Texas t-shirts were a little higher price than some other places I've seen them selling for. A dress made in China was like $100.00. Sneakers often referred as kicks is the origination of the store's name. The layout of the store is spacious with sneakers positioned in such a way that you clearly see all the shoes. Also, the styles and colors are plentiful. Today the store sales associates highlighted that they were having a special Valentine's event later in the evening. They have specials events from time to time in store. Service is the secret sauce in Kicking It! From the time you swing open the door you are greeted in a very pleasant way. The sales associate ask if you are looking for anything special. They are poised to direct you to the section of the store of the requested shoe. The sales folks feel like family, so there is no high pressure sales tactics. You could peruse the sneakers at your leisure. Sneakers are not cheap. My nephews and nieces have quite a selection of sneakers, so I was prepared to hear the prices. In life, sometimes you get what you pay for. I was looking for a popular brand of shoes that had recently come in a slide with a floral design. I had prepaid for them, so I was there to pick them. While I was there, I looked at a few other sandals and also bought a very nice pair of navy blue with a bit of navy blue sparkle on that sandal part. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized the sandals that I purchased online would not fit me. I don't know what I was thinking because slides never do fit my wide foot. I guess I thought they were more like flip-flops but my bad I didn't even open and checked them out while I was at the store. I'm hoping to be able to return them. I did meet the manager and will re-contact him when I get home, but I have no phone service at this time as I am out of the country. I'm very hopeful. I can get the very least due and exchange and apply the amount I paid toward a different style of shoe. There were a huge amount of different shoe design and the sizes were a very good range. We didn't have to wait long before we met Kelly, who shared with us the fascinating 89-year history of Karavel shoes--wasn't that amazing? I really appreciate this sit-and-fit shoe store experience. We found the perfect pair and were able to buy our sizes right away. What makes this store special is the great fit and the friendly, attentive customer service. It's easy to see why so many people have loved this store for nearly a century.
