I had my first dental appointment in three years today and, like many patients, I was nervous. The…read morehygienist was wonderful and made me feel comfortable. She answered all of my questions with patience and helped ease my nerves. Unfortunately, my experience changed dramatically once Dr. Patel came in. His approach was judgmental, dismissive, and unprofessional. I was made to feel inadequate simply because I did not know the difference between certain types of x-rays. I had already taken the time to confirm everything with my insurance company before this appointment, but even if there was miscommunication, there is no reason for a patient to be spoken to with such negativity. What was most telling is that another employee felt the need to apologize to me afterward. That alone speaks volumes. As a result, I canceled the appointments I had scheduled for my children later in the day because I would not subject them to that type of treatment. It is disheartening to have such an experience, especially after working up the courage to return to dental care following previous negative experiences. While the hygienist was excellent, I cannot in good conscience recommend this practice under Dr. Patel's care. I will be seeking a new dental office in the area.

We've moved *a lot* in the last 3 years and every time I'd make an appointment, it would be 6+ months out, and we'd move again before the appointment took place. I was nervous they were going to shame me, but quite the opposite! They said not to worry and put my mind at ease. Morgan and Christina were our hygienists and they were SO sweet. They talked so well with my kids, educating them, letting them touch the instruments so they wouldn't be afraid. The dentist was just as kind. My kids left with a bag of goodies each (a cartoon toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, stickers, a ball, jingle bells, etc). My kids have been carrying around their treasures all day. But meeting the staff, I immediately felt relieved. Our dental hygienist for the kids was Ms. Sandy and she was spectacular. She really talked to my daughter in a way that she'd understand. She was patient with her, let her see all the tools they were going to use, let her pick the toothpaste flavor and was just overall wonderful to my daughter. Our little boy is under one but has lots of teeth, so we got him checked out too. He wasn't a fan of the dentist/hygienists but they were quick and no tears were shed. The receptionists and the billing/scheduling ladies were also really nice. They answered my questions and were quick and efficient. I'm happy with the care my kids received here.

Would choose an equine dental office over this place. This…read morereview is not a reflection of the dental work itself, as I never got that far into the process. First and foremost, I showed up 12 minutes late to the 8:00am appointment, that is 100% on me and no excuses. Upon entering I apologized for being late and was met with a friendly, joking response of "oh well I guess you need to get out of here then, haha" by a dental hygienist. Unfortunately, that joking comment was followed up by a rude toned receptionist's sincere comment of "Yes that's true, you showed up outside your appointment window of 5 minutes, so we have to reschedule". Apparently, without any prior communication of this, the office policy for new patients is that they are given a 5 minute window to show up to their scheduled appointment. If they fail to do so they are out of luck. Not only is that policy draconian and unreasonable in general, but the office in this situation didn't even open until 8 am. Furthermore the receptionist had an overall tone and mannerisms of someone who shouldn't be the human representation of the first impression of the business. I sincerely hope this review inspires changes at the business for future clients, as I will be looking elsewhere. I'm fairly confident Blue Cross is accepted at other dental offices in the Aiken area.
