We rented the facility for my daughter's wedding and reception. We had 175 guests. It was perfect! The wedding was outside in the lawn surrounded with beautiful oak trees. Our guests enjoyed the outside patio. Our caterer served dinner in the beautiful dinning room and porch. Later we had a dance and reception in the spacious downstairs area. I would highly recommend The Gathering Place for any event. It was beautiful, and the folks there helped us with every detail.

I attended this meeting last Thursday and met many wonderful people. Coffee, popcorn and soda was served while we watched a documentary about WW2 Navajo code talkers. Their restaurant is very simple, but the food is very good, and the prices almost too low. The service is great, and for those of us in our 40's, it makes me feel young to be with so many fun and spry of my elders. So inspiring. I've brought clients in on occasion, as a form of referral as well as a meal, and they seem very impressed by the food and all that is going on there. The programs they offer, such as classes or trips, are excellent from my 2nd hand experience. I've referred several people to their programs and classes, and all have had fairly good to excellent experiences. They offer special trips to events, have concerts enjoy and a choir to join, computer classes to keep up with new technology, games and tournaments, and simply offer a place to hang to share stories. The only negative, which is in the works for them, is their shorter hours. They are looking to stay open a little later, but mostly weekdays only until 4pm. Not bad if you're retired, but more of a challenge for me to pick up information for people who may not live very close, or those who can't drive. Check out their current hours by calling ahead. I like how the hallways were fairly wide and there was furniture to sit down at as well. Parking here isn't too difficult as there are fairly wide spots that go around the whole building and there are multiple entrances into here as well. The bathrooms were also a good size for the number of people that the theatre can seat, so there wasn't much of a line to use them.

My father was one of the first to move in over 7 years ago. She had Alzheimers and was no longer able to live on her own and was living with me, my husband and my daughters. We loved having her in our home, but with everyone either working or at school, there was no one to take care of her during the day. The Naperville Senior Center provided exactly what we needed. She went to the Center everyday and she was well cared for and enjoyed going. Fast forward to today --- my mother is no longer with us, but the Senior Center is. It is still the same loving, caring and welcoming center it used to be.

Today, I assisted my client to the NE Levy Center on Lawrence to help her with a problem with her RTA card. After waiting for about an hour with my client, our number (23) was called back. When we stood to face someone named "Miss Nancy," I was told I could not go back with my client as her office is small and she would be taking both number 23 and number 24 back at the same time. I educated her that I was there to assist my client, however, she said if I continued to challenge her, she would refuse service to my client. This is blatant disregard of an individual with a disability's rights. My client wanted me to come back with her as she has severe and persistent mental illness and struggles to complete tasks on her own due to anxiety and difficulty advocating for herself. In addition, my client was unable to answer questions asked by your staff member as we completed the RTA application together several months ago. I am appalled at the way both I and my client were treated.
