I was recommended this place by a friend for the SNS nails and I'm so glad I went in! I had some acrylic nails removed and then SNS put on and I'm so pleased with the quality and the service AND the price! I will definitely be going back! I didn't give them the full 5 stars only because it was a bit dusty/dirty around the salon. Everyone was very kind and several ladies came in after me and they seemed to be regulars because the staff was very welcoming. I had been going here for dip for about a year or so, very other time I had been in I was unhappy with the quality nail service. While most of the the staff is friendly, it's really awkward when you walk in and the owner is not so friendly if you are unhappy about your nails. When you walk in, theres usually about 5 people (not getting services) sitting on pedicure chairs chit chatting. The music they play is not relaxing at all, so I usually wore my headphones when i went in. My nails have broken, to the point that I start bleeding in the middle of a service and I was told it was my fault because my nail lifted (since the nail tech would not shorten them like I asked the last time I was in, my nail bent back and the hard dip powder caused it to slightly lift off the nail bed). I had also asked the nail tech to not use a drill because my nail had lifted off and it was really sensitive, but she proceeded to drill at my pinky nail anyway... totally my fault, right? The second to last time I went in, my nails not only lifted and chipped after a week (I normally go in every 2 to 3 weeks). Well, because I usually go in on my day off I got busy and couldn't make it in for another 2 days after my nail broke (I had band aids holding my nails together for 2 days). When I went in, I told them my issue and asked for a new full set. The owner came over, looked at my nails, rolled her eyes and again told me it was my fault, and that it had been a week and half since I had been in. I said "Yes, it has been a week and a half, my nails broke 2 days ago. I had to leave work to come in today because I scratched a client in the face with the nail that has the entire tip broken off". I got my service done & was then charged full price, and finally decided I've had it with the terrible customer service & and inconsistent quality of work. It's been about a month now since my last time in, my nails have been splitting as soon as they grow any sort of tip, and are in worse shape then they ever were after acrylics. Oh, & they only lasted another week before again chipping, lifting, and tearing my nail off, but that must be my fault. read more

Do not ever go to this nail shop. I selected the New Deluxe Gel Pedicure and i literally could've gotten better service from a 3 year old. My nail tech never took the time to clip my toe nail cuticle nor did she trim my toe nails. She had polish on my skin and not to mention my feet were still rough on the bottom when she got through. They charged me $85 and then tried to force me to put in a tip. I'm not sure if it was because I'm a black customer or they could just be bad service people all the way around but I will never be treated like that ever again by this shop read more

When she was taking off my shellac, she did it with the file and completely thinned out my entire nail bed. The nail polish was extremely sloppy, I had to tell her to correct it several times. I went to Dd Nail and Spa on a referral from a friend who is quite a fan. I figured that the place must be pretty nice, so I took my best friend and hubby for a mani-pedi and, for me, nail enhancements. The first thing I noticed was that it seemed cluttered and dirty. I'm new to nail enhancements so I needed to ask questions but we had a serious language gap. I wanted gel, but they told me that I couldn't do a French manicure using gel. After going round and round and them, I settled on SMS dipping. During our mani-pedi's, nobody really spoke with us. While doing my nails, the gal never spoke to me except when she needed me to move my hand. All the while, the Spa workers were chatting amongst themselves like crazy. They could use some customer service training. When I walked out I actually thought, "Well, it was worth it". My nails were really pretty. Within two days, I was starting to see some chipping on my thumb nail. Within a week, I had cracks and chips, and where the stuff was pulling away from the cuticle, it was very blunt, like she went to far up onto the skin. Whenever I see someone's nails, it's always curved and smooth at the ends where the cuticles are, making grow out obvious. We came here in Sept to get our nails done. The lady doing my daughters nails was painting them while another lady was doing her toes. The lady doing my daughters nails dripped nail polish on her brand new pants. Then she used the acetone to try to remove it. The acetone removed the color off of her pants. We came back the next day to ask for them to pay for the brand new pants and the manicurist that spilled the acetone started yelling at us and telling us we were horrible people to want them to pay for the pants. Finally, after 15 minutes of her yelling and screaming she reimbursed us for the pants. I would never go here again. I was drawn in by the Big Blue Student Coupon book offer of a $29 Brazilian and 50% off Underarm wax. While it was my first Brazilian ever, I had done a lot of research so I knew what should have happened during my procedure. She did an ok-ish job on getting most of my unwanted hair gone, but left large patches all over my pubic area. Additionally she didn't do a full Brazilian (which is supposed to include removing the hair from the "inbetweenie" and "backdoor" areas of your nethers.) The underarm wax was just fine. If I had paid full price for the procedure, I would have been very upset. I paid $36 for both services - which is about half what you'd pay for a Brazilian alone at Screamin' Eve downtown... but when you throw in the $20 I spent at Walgreens for a home-wax kit and my time spent touching up the esthetician's half-completed work I probably should have ponied up for the real deal at Screamin' Eve. I may go back to get my nails done someday... but I think I'm going to take my maintenance Brazilian business elsewhere. read more

I was really needing an acrylic fill and the lady who did them kept getting distracted from her phone and kept looking at her phone instead of looking at what she was doing with my nails! I was baffled...  on top of that she missed three of my nails on the second top coat. Once I got home I noticed my nails started to chip off immediately! Soooo disappointed. The Pros: Ha.... Yeah, Right ! The Cons: Everything. I went to this nail shop while visiting a friend at Western. I saw that they had a coupon in the some book that's only given to students so I decided to take advantage of the free manicure that came with the purchase of a pedicure. This was a big mistake. The pedicure was $25 (+5 for a design) - which if I went some where else, it would have been about $10 less. The manicure was basically included in that price so in the end, it was like the manicure wasn't even free. Oh and I should add that with the coupon for a free manicure, polish isn't included, its $5 extra. I asked the lady for a non -flower design on my feet. I'm sorry..... I didn't know that was a strange request. A non-flower design is not a problem at my regular nail shop. The lady was clueless as to what design to do (and shes apparently the best nail tech they have), so I opted for the flower just to get outta there as quick as possible. It was already 3 and I had to be in downtown Seattle at 5. Now, for the best part... My natural nails are long. When I get a manicure people assume their acrylics. The lady started the manicure. She asked "how short do you want it cut" ? I said " I don't & I would like them square, square please". From there the lady put down the clippers and picked up a file. She started with the right hand and by the time I knew it, all the nails on that hand were round and half the length of the other hand. I was livid ! I stopped her immediately. They called the other lady from the back to fix what she had ruined. I started crying (like a wimp! - I'm sensitive about my nails lol!) When she finished, she sent me over to the UV light to dry. After about 10 minutes the lady came, sprayed quick dry, and told me I was good to go. I had her recheck it to make sure it was really dry. By the time I got in my car, ALL of my nails were ruined. I walked back in and showed them that it was not dry. She sat me down and started to take the polish off. I asked for a full refund and walked out ( LIKE A DIVA). This place is slow. I came in at 2 and wasn't out of there until about 6. read more

I take her to get them done so she can relax and let someone else do the work.... she hasn't had her nails done since the first of the year... the lady who used to do them sold her shop. I happen to be in this area and I decided to try out a nail salon here and oh boy do I regret coming here instead of my normal place. I came in and asked for a fill. I'm not sure if she was the owner but she handed me to one of her employees that walked in, after she had removed my old nail polish. This employee did a lazy job of doing a basic fill and when I asked her to fix certain things that she did, she sighed like she didn't want to do it or I was asking too much. She rushed the job all because the owner wanted to have more employees to help with three other clients that had an appointment and they were late. I did not appreciate a horrible job and a horrible attitude. I will not be coming here and would recommend to other people if you are not a local of Bellingham do not get your nails done here. I'm from Seattle and I've been to different nail salons in Renton, South Seattle and downtown Seattle that have horrible customer service but they still do a better job than this place. I am so disappointed that I have to get my nails redone at my usually nail salon in Everett. read more

I am a regular at DD & I always enjoy the time I spend in the salon. Welcomed with a smile every time. I do nails & pedicures every 2 weeks. If you pay cash you get 20% off which is a plus. Prices are fair bc you get quality work. They also offer a variety of design tips as well as gel glitter tips. I've been getting my nails done for about 6 1/2 years now & a customer of DD for the last year after my sister made the recommendation. There is only 1 other salon in town that can compete w the quality & customer service offered at DD Nails. As for the previous review w all the complaints: I don't know where a pedicure w design costs only $15, $25 is normal pricing in Whatcom county no matter where you go. Most manicures come w a color polish, this is true but what the coupon offers is a clear top coat. Finally, if you get your nails done regularly then you should know when they're dry. If you need a quick spray you should probably wait & let them dry. read more

When I first moved here from California I was on a mission to find the best place for mani/pedi's. I have been to over 5 different places and I love how friendly these ladies are, especially when I return. They remembered me even after the first time I went and remembered that I loved the stone massage. I thought that was really kind of them. Sometimes they go above and beyond when I get my artificial nails and will massage my hands. One time I had to wait a little bit for a pedi because it was busy and before I left they gave me a gift certificate for next time. I know they care about their clients. I have been to this salon a couple times when new people are there and dont get as great of service. I would recommend going when its not busy and when you can get the two owners (they're sister). read more

Got my toe nails done here & the lady never gave me a massage at all, she didn't even put anything in between my toes to make the nail polish not get on my other toes. It kept getting on my other toes & I kept having to tell her. I would make sure u get the right person. I love their pedi's - since that's all I've had here I don't know about the experiene like the poor lady below with her nails. But they take their time, & usually last about 45 minutes.
