I like Ninja Japan...my overall experience has been decent. I was a bit disappointed yesterday when I ordered 2 Shrimp tempura rolls and 2 California rolls with REAL crab meat... and sadly, I got imitation KRAB. OH NO! While I didnt throw the entire tray against the wall...in a rage of fury, there was something missing (besides the chop sticks and soy sauce - thank God I had some at home). The service is always swift and kind when I visit, for which I am grateful. The dining area is always well kept and maintained also. Ninja Japan retains an "A" rating from the Georgia Department of Health which I commend! I decided to write this review because I like the place and in want them to continue to be good. I was essentially over charged for part of the order and not given some of the items I requested. That all said...I will return...soon. I remember my food not being good the last time that I was here but this time I wasn't able to order anything because of the AWFUL smell that hit me when I opened the door, even with my mask on I was about to vomit. Avocado or the soy sauce taste like old tap water or toilet water. Food is as good as a fast food restaurant can get. Low quality but a tad bit more expensive because its supposed to be "fresh". If you just want something quick to eat then this is the place but don't expect to get great quality food. Also the customer service isnt all that good due to the language barrier. If you want good customer service and your order to be right I suggest learning Japanese. Order has came out wrong a few times due to the language barrier. They are the only place around here that has a yam roll and I'm vegan so I usually just have to deal with these issues to get one. If I could give less than one star I would. I tried with this place, I really have, but each time has been disastrous and I'm done. Someone needs to explain to them the purpose of a menu. They have prices, but it's never the same when you order. They charge an extra $2 to fry your entire roll. I get that. But if you order a $6 roll and you want it fried, tell my why they charge $13.50. I asked why and he said they aren't doing that "right now". I want a simple shrimp tempura roll and just fry it. He insisted on me getting the crunchy super roll which I didn't want because I don't care for the other things inside the roll and I hate spicy mayo. They also have done away with their 2 rolls for $12 . Beware that when you order they are trying to give you another roll to up charge it. I asked him why my $6 roll would be $13.50 and he said it was an upgrade. How is less an upgrade. Each time I've went there was a price change that wasn't discussed, that's why this time I made sure to have them know exactly what I wanted. They definitely are trying to make money without actually giving the customers what they want and it's disgusting to do people like that during these times. Okay so there are good points here for this place namely that despite being in Union City that typically excepts low standards in cuisine they have at least tried to set a standard in decent but inexpensive non-Amercian food. The plates come with a heaping pile of fried rice, well seasoned though heavy on black pepper, a pre-cooked mixed veggie side includes most carrots, cabbage, and broccoli. Now depending on the meat you choose, for following reasons I'd recommend stickin' with the chicken. The beef is a thin processed strip, I don't want to say Steak'ums but definitely in that ball park. The shrimp while large probably come farmed from god knows where and are not plentiful enough to really get excited about. The sushi is priced decently and surprisingly doesn't taste terrible however the rolls are on the small side, but hey so is the price. I don't think they are going to blow anyone's minds with their sushi but it is a place in Union City serving sushi. It is a clean and moderately priced grab'n'go alternative to the chains and mediocre places in Union City that alone makes it worth a try. It is a step above the places in the area, but it isn't enough to stand out against other competitors for the same faire. read more
