Got all of us in quickly, so we could nip those nits in the bud. My girls and I take our gorgeous manes seriously, so there was no way we were going to mess around after my oldest found nits and a live bug (EW!) in her hair. Gentle products, as opposed to that poison that burns your scalp and makes you itch as badly as if you actually had a head full of live bugs. Appreciated the thorough check (no bugs, but those nits on the girls would have hatched in a week). Seems like a much better idea than the recurring head lice so many other families tolerate! this is Great! I got an appointment the same day and they come to your house and spend an hour or more picking the lice out and then washing the hair with special lice repelling products. It was $100, but well worth it to me. I started to do it and spent about a half an hour and my daughter started complaining and I had meetings to get to, so having someone else meant she wouldn't complain to "strangers" and I was sure it would get done right and get her back to school the next day. Years ago when we had lice the only professional place I found was in Hayward a 45 minute drive - So, this is wonderful that they come to you! read more

Thank you Nit-Picky for saving us from lice and putting me at ease. My family and I were recent struck with the lice bugs and their pesky little nits. In all of my life I have never had lice nor have I ever seen it so it was shocking to find it in my son's hair. I was trying to convince myself that it couldn't possibly be lice, that just wouldn't happen to us and then I found the living bug. Ewe, nasty! I'm a super paranoid momma and lice is definitely a phobia of mine, so even after I tried treating me and both my boys with over the counter product, I was not convinced we were in the clear. Basically I didn't sleep that night but I was slightly comforted when I found this service on-line. I called them the soonest I could the next morning and they were at my house by noon. Ashely showed up to my crazy house hold and was kind enough to nit-pick all the nits and lice from the three of us. She was awesome! She reminded me often that these were just bugs and they weren't harmful but rather more annoying due to the clean up. She taught me how to check my kids and properly use the Nit comb. She also taught me how to take care of my own hair. If Ashely wasn't nice enough, the Nit-Picky customer service was amazing as well. I've never been treated so kindly and felt so cared about by a customer service rep. She answered all my questions and called me back to follow up and make sure I was ok and there were no further issues. I feel so lucky to live in an area that works with Nit-Picky. I highly recommend them. But word of caution, there is a variance of remaining eggs/bugs so while the services gets out almost all if not all, you do need to do your part for the rest of the week to ensure you don't get another outbreak. I checked my kids everyday after for the week and I'm now putting the lice check into our weekly routine. I'm also doing the same for myself. You just never know what you'll get with kids. Another word of advice, the comb they sell on the Nit-picky site or by the rep is amazing. The combs that you buy at the store just don't work well. Hope this review was helpful. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, RUDE STAFF AND BAIT AND SWITCH. Just like Nicole A. and the previous reviews, we had a technician come to our house. She treated my daughter, which took longer than the hour. No problem. THEN, she screened my second daughter, which took 15 minutes. We bought a $25 comb to continue combing ourselves. They then charged us $240 for the comb and 2.25 hours of treatment. My wife called to get it rectified and they only refunded $47.50, stating that the screening took more than a 15 minute limit. Not cool. I then called to ask for the rest of the refund because we only had 1.25 hours of treatment and one screening ($25). The "manager" Janey was super rude saying that their technician reported more time than she was actually here for and they do not give refunds AND that it states clearly on the estimate that there is an additional charge for screenings that take more than 15 minutes (I printed all documentation and NOWHERE does it state any of that). When we agreed to the initial service, and to this date, there is no verbiage or terms that say there is time limit or that there can be an added charges on screenings. It seems that it's their business model to over charge their clients and then fight it out on the phone. If I was aware that screenings were more than $25, I would have chosen a different company, because there are many out there that are less expensive. Total bait and switch. The total that they owe me is $22.50. I guess I will have to spend money to bring Shannon to small claims just so she will find out that it's not okay to treat customers and maybe in the future, she won't be unscrupulous in her business tactics. read more

I was extremely disappointed!!!! The woman who did my child's hair did less than i did when combing out the pesky critters and did it in less than 45 minutes. She insisted her head "was totally free" and that I had done a "great job". My child's school has not yet started this year and she had no exposure to any other child yet within 24 hours her head looked just as it had when we went to Nit Picky. We also washed every sheet, pillow case, blanket, towels, clothes anything she touched almost immediately. We covered all furniture that she used and washed the coverings daily. No other family member has lice. Does anyone have a suggestion for the next step? read more

Found out on Sunday that both of my daughters had lice. I tried half the day on Monday trying to get them out with products from the store, and was really struggling with getting them all. I called Nit Picky and they sent someone to my house that same day. She spent an hour on each of daughters, and got all of the lice out. My girls were both cleared by their school nurse this morning to return to school. I was very pleased! Poor customer service, rude staff. The "specialist" who came to my home quoted me the wrong amount and documented longer time than she was really here causing me to be billed more. I was billed $120 for the first visit, then i was billed another $143 for the "final invoice" before the $120 was returned. When spoke to the rude woman on the phone she ultimately hung up on me. I had surgery two weeks ago and cannot raise my arms, otherwise I would have handled the head lice myself. A friend told me about this place and I thought i was in good hands. Apparently not. I was told that my daughter would need a recheck in a week and that the "specialist" would come to my home, again, but the amount would be less because it was a recheck. When confirming the appt on the phone, the woman said that this "specialist" keeps telling people the wrong amounts and that I would infact be billed another $120 for a home visit. No one mentioned that I could come to the salon for $25 instead for a recheck, until i asked. They are a rip off!!!!!!! Heal lice is a pain to deal with but these people made the process a million times more stressful. read more
