I was recommend Nixon's Garage by a close friend and was decided to call. I was answered quickly by a very sweet and kind receptionist (Mari Nixon) and was given an appointment that same day. They quickly and accurately checked out my car for free and sighted specifically what was wrong with the vehicle. Mr. Rick Nixon gave a thorough and helpful explanation of what was wrong with my car and what exactly I would want to do or could do to fix it. He was very generous and gave me an incredible deal for my car. He was excellent in providing options and when I sent my car in to get it fixed he fixed it the day of. They were respectful and transparent the entire process and I am super appreciative. Nixon's Garage was excellent and exceptional to me and my entire family hopes to use them more in the future. read more

went in to get a turn signal fixed, truck got sideswiped in there parking lot and the owner says "I'm not talking to you about it" & walks off. Leaving me with more problems then I came in with, and a smashed up fender. No cameras in or around building so they have no way of helping you if something were to happen while you leave your vehicle there to get worked on. They would deny any involvement & leave you high & dry just like they did me. Said they would make it right multiple times.. only to lead me on. Truck was prestige when I took it in, now I habe more issues then I started with. Can not be trusted. Probably have no business insurance. Would do you just like they did me.. would never recommend this shop to anyone read more

Years ago I went to Nixon's for most all repairs. I thought they were pretty good until I found out one of there mechanics was doing donuts in my Dodge Magnum in local parking lots, and bragging about how fast it was They also used my car to shuttle people around. They claimed they were test driving it to make sure it was ok. It was bullshit. They claimed it was fixed, but used up all my gas joy riding. Car still had alignment issues so I took to another local shop to get the issues resolved. I won't go back, and would not recommend them. I told my son not to go there, and recommended to my wife not to take any of our vehicles there after this experience. read more

Update: I have put 50,000 miles on my '04 Malibu since Nixon's garage replaced the motor - it has had no major problems and is still very reliable transportation. read more

Was driving long distance to see my kid for the Thanksgiving holiday when the check engine light came on. Happened to be close to Joplin, and since I had just spent money on a full service check in OKC I figured someone might have left a cap off. Stopped checked oil and fluids all were okay but still the engine light was on. Well I was not getting to my destination until after dark and Joplin was a great place to make sure I did not have issues someplace I did not want to break down in the cold. Found Nixon's, but they were jammed packed they day before Thanksgiving of course. Told Josh and his team the situation and they had me in and out in 15 minutes, it appears my o2 sensors were triggering the light but they were working fine according to the mechanic. It seems I can't take a car into a shop these days without dropping 300 bucks. The piece of mind Josh and his team gave me for the rest of my six hour drive cost me $15 bucks... Great group of mechanics and guys. Thanks all for a much easier trip. read more

I have had decent service here in the past but this shop has signifacantly gone down hill over the last 6 months or so. Empty promises of deadlines that are not able to be hit and incompetent repairs. read more

Due to terrible communication and customer service from one particular employee, I never actually made it to Nixon's Garage. I'd heard several positive reviews from friends and family, so I thought it might be a good choice for my timing belt replacement (60,000-mile preventative maintenance). They were priced a little cheaper than the majority of places I called for quotes, and on my first contact with them a guy whose name I believe to be Rick, sounded very confident and friendly and assured me that the job would be completed for a price I felt was reasonable (around $300). Due to his customer service I decided to choose Nixon's over another shop whose price was lower. I scheduled the appointment, and one week later (the day before I was scheduled to bring in my car), I called to confirm the details and talked with another employee whose name I think may have been Steve (I am not completely sure of his name, and now I'm kicking myself for that). It was a completely different experience. Right off the bat, he had mega attitude and told me he didn't see an appointment scheduled under my name. Finally he "found it". I asked if I could pay when I dropped off my car and he sighed loudly, then told me my total was going to be over $500 and that I would be "stupid" not to get the water pump replaced too. He told me the price of the parts and I thought the labor seemed exorbitant so he told me it was due to "taxes". I explained to him about the quote I received a week earlier from Rick, his coworker, and he told me in an extremely rude & condescending tone that he was "100% sure Rick told me that quote was PRETAX". He sounded very agitated and angry with me. By that time, there was NO WAY I was giving them my business so I scheduled elsewhere and cancelled the appointment. I don't know if this second guy I dealt with is an owner or manager at Nixon's but he needs to check himself before he wrecks the favorable image of the business. read more

We were on I 44 West of Springfield when the indicator light for the charging system came on. We were hundreds of miles from home, in a raging downpour (2017 flood)with our two dogs in possibly dire straits in the middle of nowhere. A quick Google search turned up Nixon's Garage about a half an hour ahead. We pushed forward hoping and praying to arrive intact. At first glance, we saw a large building, the parking lots packed front and back with vehicles of every sort. It seemed like we might have a long, long wait in an unknown locale, where we knew no one and no place to be. Desperate, we entered and gave them our story. Rick took prompt care of us and immediately got his guy on our car. They treated us like family, with kindness and respect. Don quickly ran a diagnostic on the car and Rick clearly explained the problem to us, gave us our options, and generally eased our worries. Less than two hours after we had arrived, they had us back on the road with a minimum of pain; they provided us with Excellent service all around at a fair price. I wish I could grant them 1000 GOLD STARS! We will forever be in their debt for their assistance to two strangers and their dogs in one of the worst storms the state has ever witnessed. Terrible terrible terrible...the tech who worked on our truck overlooked things he shouldn't have. Took it in to have rear axle grease changed to which they offered to replace the leaking seal. They found the pinion seal was leaking as well. Told them to go ahead and replace both seals. The tech overlooked the pinion needing a speedy sleeve. Therefore after paying for the service and 15 minutes of having the truck back the rear end tried to lock up. The pinion was leaking which destroyed the pinion bearings. Towed the truck back and the tech overlooked the bearings. So the third time they opened the rear axle they finally caught his mistakes. After admitting fault and and calling themselves "making it right" with me I was charged for their mistakes and hours. Plus they left trash in our truck: dirty shop towels, a McDonald's drink and a McDonald's sandwich wrapper. Will not be back and will never advise anyone to go to Nixon's garage. Their other tech's even said "the tech working on our truck was a dumbass". Jeff admitted they were at fault. And Donny basically held the truck ransom until I paid for their screw ups and shenanigans. And when the truck was picked up it was still low a jug of 75w80! MF'ing con-artists. read more

Told them exactly what I needed done.Also them as well once I got there. They ended up replacing 3 interior door handles that were not broken as well as 1 exterior door handle. Also, had brake noise diagnosed(they told me after I called since they had forgot to do this as well) and the diagnosis was not printed off and appears to be inaccurate since I had a friend drive and noise was coming from rear and I fixed by spraying brake dust off drum. I explained that they fixed a bunch of things that clearly worked, and they would not give a partial refund or any compensation at all. I have went here over 30 times, and this is how we were treated. $243 in waste and more in parts. On top of this, the drivers door stopped working yesterday... Scared to take it back, so I won't. My advice, try someplace else. They are courteous until you show them they were taking advantage of you and ask for a partial refund. Not much to ask. $10 would have made us feel like they at least felt bad about it. Actions speak louder than words however, and they have shown their true colors. read more
