The check-in woman I've now encountered twice -- short-hair, big black glasses -- might be the rudest human on the planet. Aggressive tone, comically unhelpful ... it's as if she thinks her job is to fight with people instead of assist them. I had what should've been two easy transactions: transferring my license and my vehicle registration from out-of-state and she acted like they were the most absurd and unreasonable requests she had ever heard. It was truly bizarre and I will drive to a different branch specifically to avoid her for any future transactions. And it really is too bad since everyone else I encountered at this branch was very kind and helpful and, once I got past her (just barely!), everything went smoothly. People like this have no business working in customer service. If you're unhappy, maybe data entry is a better profession. Spreading your misery to other humans helps no one. I can't help but wonder how many of the negative reviews about rude personnel can be directed attributed to this one woman. My money is on quite a few. Depends who you have the lucky to get, past Thursday i went there to do a registration for someone else, with all paperwork, so they refuse to follow my appointment because wasn't in someone else name, the supervisor didn't want show that rule (which doesn't exist in the website or either on the confirmation email) and Friday i went to Trenton branch looks like they're missing that internal rule) so funny thing is pay tax, and the state of NJ doesn't care to make your money be used like that, if they have problems working there, and doing their job, I guess the state should use the tax payers money better and hire a new crew with don't have problems doing their work. read more

Took the day off work to renew CDL. Get through the "ID check" & wait to be called for next step. The woman at that window said I needed my physical certificate, which the woman at the ID desk looked up and noted on form as "O.K". I pointed this out to her but she checked with some unseen person who said I needed the certificate present. Went home to get it, came back, had to go through ID check again. They remembered me and were surprised that I was denied the renewal w/o certificate. Lots of shaking of heads by these employees, at a colleague's gaff. Fortunately, they got me bumped to hesd of line but then "system was down". Got home @ 1:00 PM for a 10:15 AM appointment. Get it together get on the same page so the customers you're supposed to be serving aren't forced through unnecessary hoops and waste of personal time. You all get paid for sitting behind desks while the rest of us run around at your bureucratic whims. read more

I had to go to the DMV today to renew my registration. I tried to explain to them that I received a ticket and the cop told me that my registration was expired. I didn't know that because I never received the application renew my registration in the Mail. The lady at the desk told me that it was the post office that made the error and then I asked them if I could have a letter to show to the court that I never received a renewal application. She then explained that it's courtesy that they usually don't send out renewal application forms and she told me to call the main number in Trenton. It would've been OK experience but throughout the whole time I was standing behind the window, and the three ladies were having conversations amongst themselves about another subject, and totally ignoring me very unprofessional. I have lived in other states and they usually notify you three months before the expectation date. I just moved to New Jersey and wasn't aware that it was a "Curtesy ". read more

We had an exceptional experience in South Plainfield with two wonderful people... first, was Paulette, we were happily welcomed, and she eagerly got us started filling out a number of forms, and checked on us regularly. She guided our process and efficiency moved us along. Then, we reached Marysol. She is another superstar, she could see that we were struggling a bit, but she was patient, incredible kind, and professional. I am not sure about the negative reviews for this MVC. Reason is every time I come here, so far four times, our matters are resolved quickly, meaning from taking tickets, in line, been called up to the window, and leaving the window and head to the door. This is one of the best DMV I've ever went. The great efficiency and the willingness of helping customers are the most outstanding impressions I have for the staffs here. I have to admit that I was a little bit intimidated before my first time coming here, because I like to read about the reviews on Yelp of a place for reference to either to get excited or be prepared... even those bad reviews are mainly for MVC in general and not for this location specifically. For this MVC in Hazlet I was prepared myself for worst, and brought my reading material for my first trip! (lol) It turned out I didn't even get to open my book, and I was done and out the door! Went there for a title and registration for car I just got. It was 94 degrees and humid outside. I had all my forms already filled out. The lady at the first window verified my identity and forms and told me have a seat and check the board for my number to come up. It was nice and cool in the office and I would have gladly waited for an hour or more it was so comfortable. My number came up in about 20 minutes. It took between 5 and 10 minutes for another lady to process everything. She handed me the bag with my paperwork and new plates and I was out of there in about 30 minutes total. From the moment I walked in the door it was a very pleasant experience. Kudos to the people at Hazlet MVC. read more

Randolph DMV should be revamped with better CS team!!! Over 20 years with them and they've been unfair every visit! Told my daughter to refill form, come back to her at the window. When she tried to go to the window security guard made her go to the line again even tho CS rep told her she didn't have to. Line long with 20 people, she already waited half an hour before that. UNREAL. Son has to renew permit, proof of address was only thing missing. She didn't tell me I could come back when I could! Went home, came back 2nd time and front lady said after 2:30 pm they can't take us. Why didn't the CS lady at the window advise us this before we ran around and wasted our time and gas!! Randolph has some of the most impatient and nastiest employees i've ever experienced. I feel like it's written rule on their interview form "must know how to be rude to customers". Wasted a day off work driving an hour from where I live, for an 11:35 appt, to get my Real ID only to be turned away telling me apparently my marriage license was "wrong". I had the "pink" copy of my license to be exact that had our witness signatures and the person performing our ceremony. I guess having all my other forms of identification including my military spouse ID wasn't enough because she didn't want to hear or see anymore. On top of that the minute you walk in there's no pleasant greeting from the security to the first lady you see at the desk. I've worked in customer service for 20 years and even if I was having a bad day I would still fake being pleasant. If you could avoid going to that DMV, do it. Clearly they hate their jobs. read more

I can't say enough about the great customer service shown to me at the Freehold MVC. It started with a lady named Rebecca. She picked me out of a line and immediately volunteered to assist me with what was a complicated out of state vehicle and license transfer. She was extreemly patient and went out of her way to get me the proper paper work . She then took the time to instruct me on the proper way to fill out the paper work in order to expedite the process. Thank you Rebecca. After this I was then processed and helped by a wonderful staff member by the name of Janie. There was a lot of paper work to be processed and she handled it like a true professional, and with a smile. We have all heard the legendary horror tales of ones visit to the DMV but the Freehold MVC was certainly not in any way like this thanks to these two awesome team members. read more

I can confirm that the reviews are true. Although you deal with attitude at NYC DMV, they at least have key automated systems that make several things easier. Since moving to NJ, everything feels difficult to navigate; appointments difficult to come by; call at mid-day and was told, call volume was too high, try calling back tomorrow. This agency is extremely inefficient and I hope my interactions with the agency can remain very few and very far between. SMH! read more

Not sure if NJ Motor Vehicles is aware that their phone # has been hijacked by scammer bums. When I called what I believed was the customer service # at 888-486-3339 - instead of getting Motor Vehicles, I was forced to listen to garbage about some product. When I explained that I was not interested and just wanted to speak with someone at Motor Vehicle, she ignored me and simply contined to spew her nonsense. I did at that point, yell at her. I am not blocked from calling the Motor Vehicle Agency. A warning to anyone encountering this when they call - PLEASE know this is not legitimate. DO NOT buy from them or give them your credit card or bank information. These people are dangerous scum looking only to take advantage of people who may be too trusting. I will be going down to the Motor Vehicle to make them aware of this and pursue legal action. Again, PLEASE protect yourself and do believe them even if they may sound "legitimate"- they are not. Edison NJMVC is the worst! They will try their best to kick you out by picking on any possible way. Close at 4:30 but they will not take you even though you have an appointment at 3! They will kick you out easily so they can wrap up and get out before 4:30! Been there three times just for a license related transaction. They make simple process complicated! They should be fired! I can't believe how NJ is going backwards 4 years ago you could get in dmv office and came out with your license on hand. On 08/01 of this year I went to dmv to renewed my DL like every 4 years and what I found that they don't print DL any according to them for "security purposes" I will receive it by mail today is 09/11 and I still don't have my DL after many visits to dmv, calls and paid for a second time no one can give and intelligent answer and I wonder why people keep putting in charge people that come with this stupid ideas. Want to waste a Friday? Go to the Randolph MVC and be treated like you are inconveniencing THEM even though we are their customers. Make sure you have a document that says to get this service you MUST visit an MVC and they won't even have the courtesy to acknowledge or read the document where they could say "Wow, that's not right, our web site is wrong, we will try to get that fixed". Instead they will say I don't know why it says that, we can't help you even though it is their job to know how their agency works. Or, want to then waste a Saturday, make an appointment for the Washington MVC, go with the same document that says to get this done you MUST visit an MVC and have them treat you basically the same and not even acknowledge the document you have printed off their MVC web site and hear them say I don't know why it says that, we can't help you instead of saying "wow, sorry you came all the way here to be told we can't help you, we should get that fixed, I will let the right people know about it". That is why this State agency has probably the lowest scores of any agency in the state, their people just don't care at all that they have inconvenienced their customers. Maybe if they got paid based on customer satisfaction scores they would change their attitude. read more

They are the absolute worst. You can never get a person on the phone. I am trying to transfer from PA or NJ and I did not know you can only do title transfers at certain locations. They charge you more if you finance, you have to call yourself and have them mail the title to them. They are the absolute worst and everyone who works at motor vehicles in NJ are MISERABLE. June 2nd booked an appointment at Delanco DMV for new Drivers License (REAL ID) and somehow I received "NOT FOR REAL ID PURPOSES", which from what I understand could have gotten on line. I went back twice to see if this could be cleared up and each time I was turned away with the Bad attitude of you need to make another appointment. The Management staff/Security run the place with a socialist style. They have no passion for helping their fellow NJ Citizens. They made the mistake and have no character to fix the issue. read more

I recently moved here from NYC; and needed to transfer my NY License to a Linda Cruz assisted me and she was Friendly, Professional and VERY PATIENCE. She explained every step in the process and described what the next steps would be in obtaining my Real ID. I feel like jumping in front of a train and leaving a note saying the NJ DMV is to blame. I truly might do that. I mean it. I'm serious. I have my temporary license, I need the real one to do really silly things like file taxes, drive, fly, obtain jobs, etc. I just moved back to NJ. This wasn't complicated a while back. They printed the license there and you were set. Now you have to wait up until 20 days to get it. Want to track it in the mail? Nope! They tell you to call if you don't get it, but when you call, somehow, 100% of the time, call volume is too high so you have to call back or leave your number. Even if you call EXACTLY when it opens. The call back could happen today, tomorrow, who knows? If you miss it they leave no message. If you're lucky enough to get the call and answer it, you immediately know why this agency is total, complete garbage. You'll get some 20 year old mouthbreather with an attitude who doesn't know anything and will transfer to another line where you get the same "leave a callback number". Why is this so complicated? Well, I know exactly why, but that's a much deeper conversation to be had. As soon as I get it, I'm moving out. I continue to get emails saying that Real ID is available at a specific location - this week it was Randolph... today I check and there are no appointments available for 90 days. Your site design requires checking each named location rather than checking something that is "close to where I live" or "available on a Saturday." They will tell you one thing is wrong, let you leave and come back, then tell you something else is wrong that you could have fixed if they told you the first time. Newark NJ vehicle motor staff was sitting idle there was no queue at 3:45 they stopped taking walk-in appointment , before that I took appointment for journal square submit ave they told they don't do vehicle registration we need to Newark and they will take walk-in but staff was not taking any walk-ins we reached 3:30 , I don't understand why they have mentioned working hours till 4:30 when they stopped working 1 hour before .Disgusting this happened with lots of people please take some action we need to drive 2 and half hours in working hours they don't understand problem. read more
