The front desk team is always friendly, flexible, and incredibly helpful when it comes to scheduling make-up classes. A special shoutout to coaches Maribel and CJ --they've been exceptionally professional, patient, friendly and consistently encouraging. Their clear instruction and positive energy have truly boosted our daughter's confidence and swimming skills. I also highly recommend the Summer Clinic Program--the daily evaluations really accelerated her growth and gave us great insight into her progress. It's a safe, supportive, and fun place for any child to learn to swim.I highly recommend it to other parents!

Her current instructor is beyond amazing though. Our biggest problem with Bear Paddle is the facility. It feels disgusting. I understand the locker room will be wet, but the floor always looks dirty too, and it doesn't feel just wet, but slimy. It smells like strongly of urine half the time, and sometimes feces. Which leads me to believe they don't clean well enough and they likely need their drains cleaned. The floors in the changing rooms have gunk buildup. The walls are filthy. They need a professional cleaning service to clean multiple times a week, the floors need an acid wash and to be disinfected everyday. The walls need to be cleaned. I don't want to sound harsh or nit picky, I just don't think it's asking too much for cleanliness to be a high priority in a facility where kids and families change and expose their bodies to water, floors, benches, etc. Particularly for what they charge, considering they don't offer more flexible payment setup options. I don't want to keep my bank info on file, and the fees for cards are obnoxious---the tuition never seems to stay the same month over month either. Again, really do love most of the staff and instructors--and I love how far our kids have come by going here. But I'm to the point where we are probably going to have to switch schools, because I can't risk my young ones by exposing them to whatever is going on with that locker room.

My granddaughter did not know how to swim but now she does and she's so comfortable in the water. My grandson was always happy in the water but now he knows his strokes and swim lessons really added to his knowledge. They also are very accommodating with make up classes. I'm glad we have Bear Paddle here to help kids.

Be aware of this place! The staff is friendly and it's decently clean place. This place is weird…read morebecause every week you have a different swim instructor. Some swim instructors are OK and some aren't. The biggest pet peeve I have with this place is they never return your phone call and never answer the phone. They usually have two secretaries working at the front desk, so why is there two telephones but nobody will answer.!?? Second pet peeve is they unexpectedly cancel your scheduled class time and they won't notify you. For example: Last week there was a problem with the pool chemicals and they needed to dump in a bunch of soda ash to bring up the pH levels or something they said like that. The next day it was still super cloudy, and my child had to swim in it. After words, my child could not stop coughing because of accidentally drinking some of the water. The day before that, all classes were canceled because there was a serious problem with the pool chemicals. I wound up, traveling all the way down there because they didn't notify me in enough time to say the class was canceled. So when I went to the front desk, they told me on the following week on Monday, they were gonna give me an extra half hour for that canceled lesson. So here it is.. I go to the place on Monday and the place is all closed up! I never got a phone call, a text message or an email stating why the school was closed. I left a voicemail message explaining my concerns about what happened and why they were closed. I'm more than likely certain 100% guarantee that they won't call me back because they never call you back! Also, when my husband was setting up the swim lessons, they told him that if there was any problem with them canceling appointments, they would refund money. I feel like this won't even honor that especially with the way they're acting here. This location in Turnersville is acting like a fraudulent place. This place just loves taking your money, but they don't care if they cancel your classes and you wind up pay for a cancel class. Also, they love talking sh*t about other swim schools in the area- how they're no good, but bear paddle of Turnersville isn't any better! Whoever is the management running this swim place is doing a poor job!

Two stars because there are some great teachers here. We have been consistently coming to this…read morefacility since January 2020 and sadly unenrolled both my kids plus my niece today. 1. What was once a very clean facility is no longer. Pool seems to never be vacuumed or skimmed anymore. Last week a dirty bandaid was floating around the teacher put it on the floor outside the pool. This week when we came the same band aid was still there in the same spot along with globs of hair all over and gum still stuck to the floor. Clearly the floors are not being swept or mopped. Globs of hair are all over the drains in the shower area. Again, each week it has gotten worse and worse so these areas have clearly not been cleaned at all. The bathrooms have been disgusting with toilet paper left all over the floor, seats dirty, soap just about empty. The ceiling has been leaking for months now leaving puddles in the hallway to the locker room. The puddles are large and never mopped up and never a sign warning the area is slippery. Hands down the grossest thing has been seeing roaches in the pool area on multiple occasions. They need to hire some cleaning staff and a facility manager to make sure repairs are being made. 2. It's unclear at this point how their program even works. They are suppose to be given patches at the end of the month for the skills they have learned. Our kids just received a patch they already earned last month. How disappointing to a child who has been working very hard to earn those patches wanting to move up to the next level. It was mentioned they are trying to catch up because progress was not tracked the previous month. We have been in the same level now for what seems like a very long time and not seeing much progress made, when we consistently attend lessons. 3. While there are a few great teachers (Justin, Sean, Grace) there are many who seem to have little to no swim experience. They seem to come and go and it causes a lot of inconsistency within the lessons. The front desk staff is not very courteous anymore. You are rarely greeted when you walk in, today when I went to unenroll my oldest due to her starting swim team it was not a pleasant experience. I would of liked to talk to a manager as to why I was pulling her out and would of liked to have been heard out as to why the 30 day notice to unenroll really didn't sit well. But since she was less than helpful in person I will instead share it here on Yelp. She was moved up to a level 6 and her teacher for the last month clearly did not have the experience to be teaching that level. I felt like the last month of lessons was a waste. She was not giving her feedback on how to correct her strokes, she was often distracted and not having her swim the correct distance that was needed to prepare for swim team (even though I mentioned that in the very beginning of the month to the teacher), other classes were using the same lane to do chop chop timber's during her lesson when she was still working on strokes so her lessons were often cut short. She had to stop what she was doing mid lane to not be jumped on by another student. Another time during her lesson the lane was used by staff for training so she could only use half the lane for the entire lesson. She has been given a better teacher with swim experience but at this point it's too late. I once recommended this place to everyone and anyone looking to get their kids into swim lessons. I'm sad that this place went downhill so quickly and is no longer a feasible option for us to use for swim lessons.

She told me that my daughter had a a ton of makeups and we had well over a month to use them. At our next class she tells me nevermind - I'm now out over $100 because of HER miscommunication. She didn't even try and work anything out. She was just extremely rude. The instructors are also all so young and let my 3 and 5 year old go under multiple times. My poor 3 year old is traumatized of water now. Just overall not a great place. And really terrible customer service. Take your $$ elsewhere.
