Most people take pride in preparing authentic traditional dishes not this little hell hole! Frozen scallion pancakes microwaved, egg rolls, and dumplings all previously frozen and microwaved then deep fried YUCK! Nothing worse than being charged fifty dollars for inedible crap you could buy in a cheap Chinese restaurant supply store for less than $4.00! This is is just truly dreadful ! The BEST Chinese takeout in the area! All of the food is prepared fresh, no matter what it is. The sauces are light and lovely. Not the typical heavy, gelatinous mess you typically get from Chinese takeout. The owners are interested in their customers and get to know you on a first name basis. It's a very friendly atmosphere! Rice is bland. Chicken and broccoli was tasteless and the chicken was horrible quality, found several hard pieces. The general Taos was alright but the sauce wasn't great. I heard this place was a Pottstown institution, so I dragged my wife there one night. Maybe the people that swear by it belong in an institution...or maybe we do for eating in. We ordered the house lo-mein and General Tso's chicken. The lo-mein was nothing special. Not particularly flavorful, but way greasy. The General Tso's was cooked properly, but in some weird honey-and-red pepper sauce. The egg rolls were soggy and the whole affair cost way more than it should have. I give it 1 star for at least making the General Tso's crispy and 1 star for the amount of shrimp in the lo-mein. But there's no way I'd go back. read more

Great food at low prices. I've eaten at much "higher end" places that weren't nearly so tasty. The woman who helped me at the register was very friendly, and another worker was chatting up a happy guest while she cleared a table. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant, bar none! I love the food, & the owners are friendly. We moved out of the area, but I made a special trip because I was dying for their food. After not having been there for over a year, the owner still knew me & remembered what sauces I order! I love feeling like they care to keep you as a customer. My very favorite is Shrimp Mei Fun (rice noodles). I ask for it spicy, & they do it perfectly - not the icky red stuff other restaurants add to make it spicy. I make special trips from time to time, & it is always my first choice for birthdays or whenever. The only things I could "complain" about are: they are not open Monday, which is a day I would often like to go (but they need a day off, too!) & they only take cash, which is a little inconvenient. So I was pretty conflicted about whether to give this place 4 stars or 5... Everything we have gotten here has been delicious, and it is definitely in my top 5 Chinese Food joints of all time. General Tso's just how I like it, plus they have some great Crab Rangoon, Corn Nuggets, Spring Rolls, and all the other staples you know and love. On top of that, they remember you if you're in there more than 1 time, even if you don't go more than 1x in a month, which I think is pretty special service for a Chinese place. In most others you're lucky to get someone who even wants to take your order. Now the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is this, and it's a pretty big one: they don't accept cards. And you know Chinese food isn't something you can really pay for with the money you might have in your wallet on a typical day, so you have to use the ATM before going there, or use the ATM in their store for a pretty big service charge. Also, their menu is in the higher end of what I've paid for Chinese food. It isn't outrageous, but it's slightly higher than what I'd generally prefer to pay. All in all, a great place to go, and when I'm craving Chinese food, this is always the spot. read more

There are a lot of Chinese take out options in this area (too many), but this one is by far the best I've had.The kung pao is great and they always hit my "extra spicy" request perfectly. They also are able to make my wife's orders "gluten free" (or as close as possible), by using GF soy sauce and rice noodles. read more

I usually don't write reviews but was driven to review this restaurant seconding the review by Mat L. Swearing this place was great. The General Tso's was a really unpleasant honey/sweet and sour sauce in tiny way over battered bits of chicken. The Orange chicken used a very similar and completely inappropriate permutation of that same sweet and sour sauce. Wonton soup, egg rolls, and pork friend rice were mediocre at best . Lo mein was greasy but at least tastes like lo mein. I would have given two stars for being barely edible but took one away for the outlandish prices considering quality. These same entrees at most other area take-outs are $1-2 cheaper. read more
