In my opinion, the best donuts anymore. The only thing better than the donuts is the attitude of all the employees! Well done!

With a comfortable one mile walk from Wind Creek Casino, I treaded on the greenway taking a much needed scenic route away from the ting-ting-ting slot action of the casino. Donerds was clean, modern and cartoonish in style! It was enjoyable and artsy! A comfortable nook with a mannequin that I had mistaken for a customer until I came into the store. So many choices ! They have a cannoli donut! Wow! I really wanted the crème brûlée donut but settled for the glazed one. With first bite, there was sugar but not overwhelming sweetness! I was glad for that! The donut is yeast raised and soft, fresh, and fluffy. Prices are affordable. The glazed set me back $2.25. There are also French macarons and fancier donuts too. I felt I wanted to try one of the basics to get a feel. I didn't spy any jelly donuts though, but an interesting cherry pistachio fancy one! The one employee was very nice! I thought for sure the donut would have a wax paper to grab it but nope just bare bones donut in a bag! Still, I was very satisfied! It was worth the trek!

I found Donerd's Donuts while scrolling aimlessly and immediately added it to my "Adventures To Be…read moreHad" list. While in the area, I decided to stop in and see what all the hype was about. Fun fact: I had tried the Jim Thorpe location the day before and nearly cried into my coffee--only 4 lonely donuts left in the entire shop. Thankfully, the Bethlehem location came through in a big way! Donerd's is a classic donut-and-coffee shop--nothing else. Limited inside seating, quick service, and designed to get you your sugary fix and on your way. If you want to sit for a minute, there are public benches nearby, perfect for devouring your treats in the sunshine. They rotate their menu weekly, with "first/third/fifth week" flavors and "second/fourth week" flavors, plus a donut of the week. Luckily, my targets--the bacon maple and Nutella maple pecan--are weekly favorites. Walking in and seeing a case full of donuts waiting for me was pure joy. The bacon maple donut: fluffy, perfectly soft donut, smooth maple frosting, and a generous sprinkle of crumbled bacon perched on top. A classic done right. The Nutella maple pecan donut: oh my goodness. This thing was an ALL-STAR. Heavy, decadent, and packed full of Nutella filling in every single bite--no gaping, empty donut holes here. Topped with maple frosting and chopped pecans, each bite was heavenly. I may or may not have eaten the whole thing in one sitting while consoling myself with the box's encouragement: "You deserve a donut." Total damage: $8. Worth. Every. Penny. Slightly more than a big chain (you know the one that starts with Dun and ends with kin), but the freshness and quality make it 100% worth it. No on-site parking, but plenty of free street parking on Sundays. Staff were polite and efficient--pointed in service, but that's fine; I didn't come to chat, I came to eat donuts. If you're in Bethlehem and craving donuts that make your taste buds do backflips, Donerd's is your stop. Just get there early if you have your eye on a specific flavor...some of the others were already sold out by 1:30pm on Sunday.

Certain requests I made were prompted with "Oh but that might be more than you're willing to spend" type replies. Girl, did I say money was a problem? On Sunday…read more4/17/22 I reached out via email to inquire about ordering 50 cupcakes and a 9 inch cake for a pick up on 4/30/22. I knew they weren't open on Monday & Tuesday so I didn't expect a response. On Wednesday 4/20/22 I received the response. We exchanged a couple of emails. Discussed flavors, that the order is for my sons 16th birthday so it doesn't have to be really fancy, more masculine of that was even possible and "Happy 16th Birthday" and my sons name. I was told I needed to come in and pay a 50 % deposit. I explained that I work until 4, they close at 4 that I would be in Friday 4/22/22 to pay the deposit. Great, no problem the paperwork would be started. I go in I tell the lady behind the counter that I'm here to pay a deposit. We go over everything, again. I paid $83.00 for the deposit. I also bought a pocket cake. She said what time would you like to pick up the cake? I said you close at 4 on Saturdays so how does 3 pm sound? I said thats perfect. And out the door I went. So super excited, one that I found my child's favorite flavor in cake, and two to try the pocket cake. i went in yesterday 4/30/2022 at 2:50 pm. I said I'm here to pick up an order. Gave my last name. I was asked what it was and I said 50 cupcakes and a 9 in cake. The guy behind the counter looked in the fridge by where I was standing, walked in the back, looked in all of the doors and binder for my paperwork and nothing. He said I don't have your paperwork , so I don't have your order. Did I pay a deposit? Who did I order it with? I told him I traded emails, came in on this date paid $83.00, confirmed every thing with her. I pointed to the worker. He said since I can't find your paperwork, I don't know that you had an order. I asked if they'd like me to pull up the charge on my bank app and the emails? By this time panic set in because I knew in 2 hours I had 16th birthday with over 40 friends & family. I was offered to have them make a 9 in cake but I would have to come back. I said but I'm in this area now, I strategically mapped out my stops so this would be last and I could get back up North and get ready for the party. There was zero remorse. Not one ounce. As a matter of fact, I was the that was made to feel like I did something wrong, & incorrect. They got to close their bakery and go home at 4:00 pm while I was left scrambling to pick up the pieces. I asked for my money to be refunded and I walked out the door. Could you imagine if this was someone's Wedding?! if you're going to be in this business this is a mistake on your part that just CANNOT happen and the poor customer service to boot! It just cannot happen!

I did not get the chance to meet Jay, but the girl at the counter was very friendly and understanding when I said I want a breakfast sandwich and I don't want to have to try and pronounce it . So this sandwich is ... really friggen good. Creamy scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, scallion, and a hash brown on a Malasada with sriracha aioli and a sweet cream drizzle. This was absolutely the creamiest breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The texture of the eggs was awesome, and the bacon being chopped up throughout was really nice because it was far easier to eat than having to chew through full slices and break them up. The sriracha adds a really pleasant dimension and flavor and the Malasada was a nice change of pace, no matter how much I love a fresh Kaiser roll. I'll definitely be back to try the sweet Malasada's and the burger they're doing for lunch now but I will say for now that Aloha Jay's absolutely - Didn't Suck!

I've definitely had better vegan treats before, especially for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was that there were no prices listed near the tarts or baked goods. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but in this case, I think it's important. When the cashier told us our total was $34, I honestly thought he was joking or had accidentally charged us for a small cake or something. We didn't question it at the time and just paid. Once we got to the car, we started second-guessing whether there had been a mistake. I even went online and checked their ordering page to confirm the prices. To my surprise, there was no error - the tarts are actually $17 each. I can usually justify higher prices if the food is truly exceptional, made with rare or unique ingredients, or if part of the proceeds go toward a meaningful cause. In this case, though, I didn't feel the quality matched the cost. There are several vegan bakeries in NJ that offer better-tasting treats at more reasonable prices. At that price point, I truly hope the workers behind the counter are earning well above minimum wage and that their hourly pay reflects what this place charges for a single tart. If customers are paying premium prices, it would be reassuring to know that the staff is benefiting from that as well. Overall, I think listing prices clearly in-store would help customers avoid sticker shock at checkout. Transparency goes a long way.
