This was just a bad no-chip. I wanted white but the color (as shown in the pics) is inconsistent in each nail and more opaque on some than others. I had red nail polish on when I came in and it wasn't fully removed, the excess polish around each nail was stuck to my skin. It just does not look good, and was not worth the price. I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get it redone. Very disappointing. Update: owner partially refunded after I posted this review. I appreciate that customer care. read more

I found Felicia through Yelp, and had to give her a try because of the great reviews. I used to get a no chip at a mall salon across the street from my work, but stopped after just 2 months because the way they scraped the polish off my nail was thinning it out! Felicia gently removes your polish using her own nail- and actually takes the time to soak it long enough. The product she uses is great, and so is the conversation. Fabulous nails from the fabulous lady who does them. First thing's first: the product. If you look it up on the Internet the Biosculpt products she uses are the best there can be: no acrylic, no junk, nothing that will turn your otherwise healthy nails into yellow dried stumps. Props on that- I love my nails and had them damaged by thoughtless technicians who hid the reality of the product they used from me before, so this is a welcome change. What I absolutely love is that she does not force you to wear the nails all year round and admits that your naturals have to breathe every now and then no matter how good the product is. Now that is honesty, and not being driven by profit at the expense of someone's health. Again, love that. She also does not file the surface of the nail before polish application and that is something I appreciate. Moving on: application takes some time but the result is as awesome and clean as possible. The color is perfectly even, you can't see any streaks (I've had this happen with a no-chip manicures at other places I've been to). Removal is also a painless process, as she puts solution-soaked pieces of cotton on your nails and wraps them up to melt the polish. No dipping your hands into acetone that's being heated from below. No dry fingers afterwards, no fumes, no headache. It may take a few minutes longer than an acetone bath, but I'd take this over the nightmare of a soak nail removal any day. The choice of colors is more than enough, and she's constantly adding new ones in. You can find a color to match any occasion (this was one of the issues with other places for me- they had maybe 10 colors, 5 of which were different shades of pink- how often do they expect me to wear the same color, I like to change it up every time I come in). So there, that's covered. The cost is as reasonable as it gets. It's actually less than any other place I've ever been to and it's twice as better here, so that's a win right there if I've ever seen one. Last but not least- the quality of the actual manicure. Adding to what I've already said about it being flawless and all, it really lasts. No peeling. None. None from the bottom, none from the sides (again, I've had this happen when I went elsewhere). I know it's supposed to last two weeks, but I can proudly show my nails to anyone at the end of week three and gloat about how awesome they are holding up all this time. If it wasn't for the grow-out, you wouldn't be able to tell. If you're going anywhere else to get your no chip manicure done, you might as well just go ahead and say it out loud: you don't care if your nails will hate you afterwards. Seriously, go visit Felicia- your nails will feel the love. P.S. I usually don't care much about what others write in their reviews but this one caught my eye. There is one clearly unhinged person, who left a review about the salon not calling her to confirm her appointment and ripping the cool nail lady a new one without ever seeing her face to face. Lady! It's not the dentist, and it's not a colonoscopy. I've had my nails done in a few different countries on two continents, and nobody, no matter how fancy the salon was, ever called me to confirm an appointment. Places wh9ch do nails and hair usually do not do that, because how hard is it to put down a date in your calendar? The one thing in life I was still a virgin at....no-chip mani....jk :) Alas, I got some recommendations from yelpers on a thread and good old Bella E. suggested this place. Me and two friends make the trek up here from downtown on a Wednesday to see Felicia. Its easy to find and a quick ride on the expressway. Bonus to free street parking! The salon is no frills, which is fine with me. Felicia was there and super nice. She did a fantastic job explaining the product, etc. However, I know nothing about no chip manicures so she could have been selling me a used car for all I know. It looked perfect after she was done and two weeks later it was next to perfect. After the second week, the sides started bubbling a little, but you couldnt really tell. It was great! It was weird having the polish on that long where my nails were growing out...haha. There are an array of colors to chose from. Felicia herself is totally nice, hilarious girl! Easy to talk to, but not fake....like you know when you go to a new stylist and they talk your ear off and you dont really care....this was NOT like that. It was perfect conversation...not too much, not too little Plus, we got authentic Serbian coffee from the cute boys next door that made me cracked out on caffeine. First time is $25, I dont know how much it is after that. Like I said, its a bit of a drive, however, honestly its like 10 mins in the car, free parking, cheap and great quality! I've been going to Goca's Salon for my hair (Goca is fabulous) for a few years now, and recently when I was there I noticed a new nail station in the salon. I was in desperate need of a pedicure and Felicia was able to take me for both a no chip manicure (my first ever) and regular pedicure. She was amazing and I left feeling so taken care of and pampered. That said, if you're expecting a "spa" of sorts, then this isn't for you. If you're coming to Felicia, you appreciate an extremely well-done (and reasonably priced) manicure or pedicure by someone who truly takes pride in her work and wants you to be 100% satisfied. I have never experienced a pedicure where someone really spent several minutes (for lack of a better term) "detailing" my feet and toes prior to polishing them. Felicia also uses great-smelling products and spends the extra time to give you a lovely massage with a salt or sugar scrub. I really have to say it sounds like Chu b.'s review below is from an entirely different experience. Felicia is easily the most fastidious, professional, lovely, detail-focused nail professional I have ever had the pleasure of having do my nails. The no chip will last for at least two weeks, if not longer. My regular pedicure lasted about three weeks, looking GREAT, and in the fourth week it still looked okay. She worked really hard on making sure both were done impeccably, and clearly takes pride in her work. Felicia does an amazing job! At first I was hesitant to try no chip manicures, I've heard they can ruin your nails almost to the same extent that acrylics do. However, that is not the case with Felicia and her Biosculpt products. I had a manicure last 3 weeks with only one nail peeling a little because I broke it first. When she took off the manicure, my nails didn't look any worse than before I got the no chip manicure. She has a huge selection of colors and takes her time. I definitely agree with DB - she is very hygiene oriented, which is a nice change from other nail places I've been. She is also easy to talk to and makes you feel very welcome. Just went to see Felicia, the No Chip Queen today, and my experience was exquisite! Even though I arrived about 30 minutes early, Felicia was able to take me right away. There is a cafe next door, and she had a cute waiter bring me a complementary cappuccino, which was delicious! Felicia and I chatted throughout my entire no chip pedicure, and I must say, she is an absolute delight! She is extremely nice and took the time to make sure my pedicure looked perfect. So, to sum it up: Felicia is a sweetheart, she does amazing work, and to top it all off, the no chip pedicure was only $35!!!!!! This is by far the best deal in town. I had my first no chip manicure done somewhere else. But after learning that if the wrong person removes your polish, that it would involve scraping, leaving your nail damaged and weak. So I decided to search for a nail tech that knows what she is doing. I found No Chip Queen through Yelp and trusted all the great reviews she had. She removed my polish gently with no damage to my nails. Whew! Felicia gave me a no chip manicure and pedicure right before I left for my vacation to Italy. It withstood 10 days of sandal wearing, non-stop walking on cobblestone roads and rocky trails, several stubbed toes, countless times of packing and unpacking, and rummaging through my bag every other minute to find and assemble my camera gear. In fact, it lasted 4 weeks (work got the best of me after my vacation and a part of me wanted to see how long this would really last). The nail polish looked as smooth and shiny as it did the first day it was applied. If it wasn't for nail growth, this manicure would have lasted quite a long time. I've gotten a regular mani+pedi from Felicia, too. She really is detail oriented. A perfectionist, even. My cuticles are neat, my nail bed is smooth, the shape is perfectly round, and the polish is shiny! Most importantly, she offers something no one else does - a very sanitary experience. I have been getting mani/pedis with Felicia at NCQ religiously for months now, but simply have not had the time to write a review. Upon reviewing Felicia's reviews, I was really upset to see the 3 star review Felicia was given by Sam K, certainly not deserved! But instead of attempting to counteract every negative thing posted about Felicia, I will simply rave about her stellar services and let that speak for itself. First and foremost, I live in the South Loop and drive a good 20-30 minutes for Felicia's services. Felicia ALWAYS makes an attempt to fit me into her schedule. In fact, Felicia has taken me at late as 7:30-8:00ish before due to my hectic schedule. That is just one example of how dedicated Felicia is to her work and her clients. Secondly, Felicia's work speaks for itself and she stands behind it. That is hard to find these days and that is what I really appreciate about her services. I have never felt rushed and that is definitely something I experienced frequently before finding NCQ. Felicia takes her time and pays attention to the small details, that is why I always leave looking and feeling like a million bucks. Third, Felicia is the epitome of a professional. She usually books her appointments via text which is nice because she isn't constantly interrupting my services to book clients. Another thing I really appreciate is that Felicia goes above and beyond by making sure everything is sanitized and that her clients are comfortable. I've never observed Felicia wearing a coat, and in fact, she has always checked in with me in regards to my comfort level of the temperature in the salon. She has only explained her rationale behind using new buffers and files for each client and introduced the concept of the pedicure chair she uses at my first appointment. After that, I never heard about why she does things the way she does, but I continue to observe her pull out a new liner for my pedicure every two weeks in addition to pull out a fresh file and buffer for my services. While to some, this consideration may be overlooked, it is greatly appreciated by me. I pride myself on having beautiful nails and toes and I am glad Felicia keeps me looking beautiful and healthy at the same time. Bottom line is Felicia is amazing at what she does. I received a no chip manicure and regular pedicure over 2 weeks ago and I do not have one chip or lift anywhere. If you are looking for a high quality nail technician, Felicia is your woman! I am soooooo happy to have found Felicia the No Chip Queen!! I had my first no-chip manicure last summer and fell in love with the product -- now I've found a nail professional that has the attention to exquisite detail and fautless cleanliness that I must have. I can't wait to go back for my first no-chip French manicure! Just down the road from the Jefferson Park station, it's well worth the trip. I got the regular pedicure (since I plan to change that polish a bit more often than the fingernails) and am kicking off summer with Russian Navy toes and very soft heels, courtesy of her disposable callus remover pads -- anyone who has been unlucky enough to contract a fungus from a shared pumice stone or other pedi problem will be extra pleased with those. I'm still a loyal client to the original No Chip Queen. She's a one woman show and has never let me down. Still cash only. Still appointments scheduled by text or phone. Still renting a small space in Goca's Hair Salon. Still a great conversationalist. Never a dull moment. Ultimately a hardworking mom doing what she loves. The supposed outdated salon space and lack of a jet water spa chair truly does not affect what you pay for- best quality no chips manis and pedis (even regular ones) that last long and look great. That's what you want in the end and it's guaranteed going here. Trust me! I've been to the high end nail salons, even others rated 5 stars not so high end, only for the end result to make me regret ever going anywhere else. See my other reviews. I find that businesses who insist on telling you why they're better than everyone else do so because they're not so sure you can figure it out yourself from the product and service. No Chip Queen is the perfect example of that. Expect to hear about how this place is special, and how other nails salons are unsanitary and give horrible service. Expect to hear this continuously for your entire manicure and pedicure. The manicure and pedicure I got was pretty great, and lasted through an entire vacation. And I honestly enjoy a little bit of snobbishness when the business really is great, but there were way too many problems with my experience to give it five stars in good conscience. 1. My appointment started half an hour late. No apology was given - in fact, she seemed annoyed that I came into the salon at the time of my appointment. She brushed me aside and told me to pick out colors, and I waited while she finished up with her last customer. She had even confirmed that morning and told me that my appointment would be lost if *I* showed up late. I hate when businesses value their own time more than the customers. 2. She took phone calls during services. Not emergency phone calls that were addressed quickly, but actual chit chat phonecalls she took her time with. She did this even though my appointment started late, and I said I was getting my service for a vacation and that my flight left later in the day. She took her time with everything. 3. The spa was freezing. Felicia wore a heavy sweater, a jacket, and snow boots, but I of course had bare feet for my pedicure and while my polish dried. I was uncomfortable for the entire time I was there, and my feet were freezing. I'd imagine that if you're cold enough to wear boots and a jacket indoors, you might have the sensitivity to maybe put the heat up for people who have to have their feet bare for their service. But there was nothing spa-like or comfortable about this experience. As my service ended, I thought "screw it," and rushed to put on my socks and boots, and she tried to urge me to walk out in my flip flops and just turn on the heat in the car. In December. While it was snowing. 4. Too much nail product got under my nails. It's an uncomfortable feeling to have sticky product under your nails, and when I go home i had to scrape it off myself with the metal attachment on my nail clippers. Again, it was a great no chip manicure, and it lasted, and Felicia was very thorough, so I'm giving the standard three star, above average A-OK rating. But my experience here was not worth the price or the hype. And mostly I just very much hate to feel like my time isn't valued. read more

I found this gem of a spot one day when I was super desparate in need of a pedi before going on vacay. I texted Felicia and she kindly responded that she could fit me in where a cancellation was. My no chip was pretty, she even incorporated some type of glitter as an accent nail. I really like the price of the services here but what is always most important to me is the type of service I receive. I went to Jamaica so I was in the beach for ten days and they are still perfect. I can't believe what a great job she did. I am a relatively new client at No Chip Queen -- coming here for about 6 weeks - and finally found time to write a Yelp review. While Felicia operates No Chip Queen inside a salon, she is an independent business woman. As a sole practitioner, she provides excellent personalized service and gets to know all of her clients. She is funny, warm, interesting and most of all, highly skilled at her services! While I love the idea of French manicures, at my former salon, the manicurists would use a fake bright white tip color that looked like Liquid Paper. In a day or so, the white would chip off. I would try to ask to use a more natural tip color but most of the workers in that high volume salon did not speak English, making communication very difficult. I gave up and would get a solid color. That's not the end of the world but a little frustrating. The last straw at my former salon was when both my daughter and I got nail infections and a fungus a couple of days after our pedis. We were on a cruise and had to get antibiotics to slow the painful swelling. Now I found Felicia, and her sanitation practices are impeccable. My no chip mani lasts two week or so before I have it redone due to nail growth. For now, she is a one person operation but I could see her easily growing the business and opening a swanky new salon in the neighborhood. Give No Chip Queen a try and shop local! read more

A bit shout out to Felicia for what was easily the best no-chip ever! 4 weeks after her having done my nails with no-chip, the polish was still intact; she even has pictures of it on facebook if you need proof. Except for the growth of the nails, no one could tell that I needed a fresh application of polish. And 4 weeks is a loooooong time in the nail world. Add to that the fact that I cook a lot and do quite a bit work around the house, so that says a lot about how 'sturdy' the application is. I am soooo glad i found Felicia - amazing mani/pedi right in my 'hood! Thank you youswoop! My 1st visit was using the deal - I upgraded to the no-chip mani and regular pedi, and I'm sure glad i did! I've had at least 10 no-chips so far at different salons (with and without a deal) but NEVER have I seen the no-chip color selection like Felicia's! WOW, there must've been a 100 of colors, i felt like i was at the Home Depot paint department. And guess what - she always has new colors! Back to my appt - pedi was perfect - the tub liner, nail files and all other tools are disposable, no more funky things swimming with your pretty toes! I wish I could write a glowing review; however, her lack of professionalism is why I'm giving her a 1 out of 5. I went to her every 2 weeks for about 2 months. I stopped going to her because of her tardiness and finally her failure to come to the salon for our scheduled appointment. When I was at the salon and sent her a text reminding her of our appointment, she said she forgot. She then proceeded to say that she's stressed out shopping for her vacation, and she doesn't need any more stress aka my reminding her of our scheduled appointment. She also kept saying she's human and makes mistakes. I totally understand that, but when she only takes appointments through text, I can see how it would be hard to keep track of all her appointments. Maybe she should invest in an online booking system or hire a receptionist. She would always check her phone or smoke a cigarette when my nail polish was soaking off or curing. Rude and classless. - The salon looks like it's from the 80's and is dirty. The bathroom is disgusting, and I refused to use it. - She charged me more than the pricing on her website, stating that she needs to update it, but she never did. - Files nail polish off so much so that it filed away parts of my nails, making them brittle and crack. - I would leave with bleeding nicks and cuts because of her aggressive filing. - Her pedicure chair is the most uncomfortable chair I've ever sat in. I understand the importance of having a disposable foot bath, but you can invest in a comfortable chair for your clients. - Does not take credit card or check. Only cash. Sketchy. - Takes twice as long to complete services and does not give a massage in fear that it will damage the nail polish. - Runs late with appointments, showing a lack of respect for the client's time. If you are looking for good service, honest pricing, a professional nail tech, and a chic, clean ambiance, I recommend you go somewhere else. WOW!!! Felicia is by far "THE BEST" Talk about a Hidden Gem. I am not one for writing reviews but in this case I just wanted people to know what a kind and honest person she is. Just by looking at her web site you can tell that she has the best interests of her clients in mind. It is sad to say that often because of my physical disabilities I have had salons try to sell me services I did not need, this was not the case today. Felicia looked at my pedi and said it was still in great shape and I could wait. I thank her for her honesty it is wonderful to find someone with such integrity. My manicure looks perfect and I have already booked for a no chip mani/pedi because I know not only will they look great but I will be given the same great service she gives all her clients. Coming from someone who couldn't keep a manicure longer than a couple of days because my nails would break or get damaged, no chip manicures have become an absolute must for me. I moved to Jefferson Park in April 2014 in desperate need of a good manicurist. I found Felicia on Yelp and was definitely not disappointed. She lives up to her 5 star rating. I have had no chip manicures in the city and vowed to never do it again. They chipped and did not allow my nails to grow. Felicia assured me that the products she used were the best and they are! I took a 3 1/2 wk trip to Italy and all I saw was nail growth, no chipping. Not only are you getting an amazing nail technician but you are also making a friend. I recommend Felicia hands down!!! If you are not a perfectionist, I think you will be fine with the technician's work. If you are like me, and scrutinize any service that you have paid for, you may have a problem accepting the final product. Please note: the technician seems like a nice person. Her work, however, was inconsistent in my experience. I saw her twice; both appointments were for a no-chip manicure and no-chip pedicure. The first time I visited, I was not sure when the salon was last cleaned, because there was a large dead bug and cobwebs in the pedicure room. However, the service was very good. The pedicure included a relaxing massage, and my nails looked very pretty. The manicure left my nails looking professionally done also. I was disappointed that I did not receive any type of hand massage or even lotion. Also, the appointment was close to 3 hours! I was surprised because I receive manicures and pedicures often, so I know there isn't a ton of work to be done on my hands and feet. Overall, the manicure did not wear well. My first nail started lifting on day 6, and by day ten I had chips on two other nails. (I don't work in water i.e. wash dishes, etc). My second appointment for the same two services was very disappointing. The salon bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned for some time. The pedicure service was shorter, and included a lotion application with what felt like a 30 second massage per foot. The application of the no-chip gel for my manicure was uneven, lumpy, and too thick. It looked very unprofessional, and after 7 days of wearing it and feeling self-conscious, I went to another salon to have it removed. I feel like I wasted my money, and more importantly, close to 3 hours of my time on my second visit. Based on this, I will not return for future services. read more
