We recently visited No Coast Taqueria, there are many positives and prices being the one negative. I do feel like if you are in the area it should be a place you at stop in and try out. Here is my reasons behind a 4* star review... 1. It's clean and nice inside. I like the fact that it even has an old Simpsons arcade game and looks like you can play table games in there as well. 2. The owner was a nice dude and he makes everything fresh. He was waiting tables and cooking. He takes pride in what he does and I appreciate that. 3. They offer vegetarian options which for me, is always a reason I will try a place. I had both vegetarian tacos and they were pretty tasty (the broccoli one wins for me! Tofu one pretty good too tho) BROCCO TACO Fire-roasted broccoli, garlic black bean purée, chipotle tomato jelly, micro greens, and toasted sesame seeds. $7 and THAI TOFU TACO Crispy tofu, homemade peanut sauce, "trimchi," toasted sesame seeds and scallions.* $7 4. (BATATAS BRAVAS Hand-cut, twice-fried garlic cilantro french fries. Served with kimchi ketchup and smack sauce) $9. The fries were good but not my favorite. They a little too greasy, I liked the garlic, it's very garlicky but for me I like extra garlic. It came with the tiniest dipping sauce, which i wish there was more of... 5. My fiancé got a quesadilla (RAJAS QUESADILLA Strips of creamy peppers and onions grilled with our 7-cheese blend in a 12" flour tortilla, topped with cotija cheese. Served with sour crema and salsa $11) which was pretty good but small for the price. We both love quesadillas and I would eat that again. 6. Overall I liked No coast. It was a little too pricey for me which is what will keep me from visiting frequently. $14 for 2 small tacos that were gone in very literally 2 bites, I was actually still hungry when I left. But prices are high everywhere and running a restaurant isn't cheap. If it was 3 tacos for $14 it would be easier to want to visit again. For almost $50 it was just a little too much for me. Tried again, not bad Been a while since my last review, so I decided to give them another try with tempered expectations. Server was very nice but very busy. Had to handle the entire restaurant on a Saturday afternoon by herself. Lead to some longer wait times, so make sure to have some time to spend. We got the empanada special, wings, some fries, and a couple of tacos to try. Food came out after a bit of a delay. Sat down and dug in. Best bite would be the fries. A very garlic forward fries with a weaker ketchup and creamy sauce called their "slam" sauce. I prefer double fried for a crispier fry texture, but they were fresh and I suspect brined to preserve look and give it a little crisp. Next was the wings, brined and smoked, the sauce was a bbq with a surprising amount of spice. Larger wings were cooked perfectly and juicy, smaller wings were a little dry. Avocado creama was nice, helped with the smaller wings and to take the edge off the heat. Empanadas were as promised. Small pieces of unseasoned steak and cheese. Peppers were too large, lead to some empanadas with just pepper and cheese. As a jalepeno popper empanadas it would be good, not so much as a steak and cheese. Dough was crispy but had a bit of chew. The beer queso had a lot of hops flavor, which overpowered anything dunked into it. Probably delicious after a few beers. The tacos were okay. The shrimp taco was the better of the two, shrimp were cooked well and the flavor profile was very light. With fried shrimp and remoulade you would expect heavier flavors, but it was actually quite light. The jerked chicken taco, chicken was cooked well, it had a strong jerk flavor with no spice nor heat, and the main flavors you got were pineapple and beans. Not the best taco. Coming in with the expectation of a restaurant that's not a taqueria and more a bar bites location, it's pretty good. The problem being that it is a taqueria, and those bites are the weakest bites they produce. Given the location, you'll be hard pressed to find a good taco place around. Go in expecting okay tacos, or pretty decent pub grub, and you'll be okay read more

First time stopping by and it did not disappoint! The restaurant was very clean and welcoming. We started with the Smoked chicken chowder, which the chef split for us, and it was fantastic!!! They had a $20 Lunch "sampler" with 3 wings, 2 tacos, and some boardwalk style fries. I had the citrus BBQ sauce on the wings and they were really good!! The tacos, I had the pork and the chicken, were super flavorful. The fries, wow the fries were super good!! This was just a great experience. The chef owner is very personable and professional. Friendly, outgoing staff, greeted you immediately upon walking in. This place is unique in that you can pick a beverage from the fridge, they also have agua Fresca. The establishment is byob. Definitely order the queso, it was unique because it was a beer queso and had a really good flavor. The guacamole was also good! I ordered two "beau-rria" tacos, they were alright. My friend got different tacos that looked really good and she said they were good. This is a cute spot with some pretty good food and atmosphere! I'd love to try more menu items. Updating my review now that we've tried their new brunch menu. We had the masa pancakes, eggs benedict, and cafe de olla coffee. All of it was excellent! The pancakes were light in texture and packed lots of flavor with the apple topping. The benny had a subtle lime tang and with perfectly poached eggs. The coffee was full of flavor. Run don't walk to this legit Cali vibe taco spot behind Kloter Farms saving us from crappy Holiday pizza. Shrimp tostada and beef and corn empanadas with a queso cervaza and chips got us rolling and Maui, mother clucker, bean/falafel and fried fish tacos carried us to the goal line! Horchata and chocolate tres leche and score!!! They did a professional and attractive job with the space and servers are lovely. Had my fifth dinning experience with the family tonight and, as always, it never disappoints! The staff is always friendly, engaging, and on top of everything. The taste of the food will capture your senses in all the right ways. Tonight I had the special: pulled pork empanadas--and I am sure glad I did! The portion was amazing and with tremendous flavor. I only wish I took a picture to share here. The family also shared the guacamole and the batatas brevas to kick things off. The seasoning of the chips that came with the guac was great, and the amount of guac was impressive. The batatas brevas is a fam favorite, especially for the toddler. Would highly encourage you to stop by, either at the restaurant or during the Ellington Farmers Market--where we have had several of No Coast's breakfast burritos. Taco bell has more flavorful tacos. Over priced for what you get. Had high hopes for this place. If the tacos were cheaper I might go back, but for the outrageous price they are nor worth it. They spent more on making the place look highend then putting it in their product. I came in with high expectations from what I read failed on all of them. We walked in today to order some 1$ wings. We didn't have much time (headed to my kiddos gymnastics class) but they didn't know that. Our order came out SO FAST and fresh. Stopped in on a early Saturday evening. Order "House Salsa" appetizer ($5) Salsa came 'house-made' tortilla chips, served on a sheet pan. Chip portion appeared small, larger portion or smaller pan would help. Chips were cold, thinner than most chips I've had. The salsa was nothing special, a little too spicy for the wife. When we ordered our tacos, I was disappointed to learn they were out of steak. They only had chicken, pork and shrimp selections. I ordered "Street Taco", my wife "Southern Shrimp". Since they were out of grilled steak, I asked for recommendation, for Street taco filling which was pork. Tacos are served on soft flour tortillas unless hard is requested. For $1.50 more, I ordered it "Gringo Style"- which includes shredded cheese, sour cream and shredded lettuce. Taco was nothing extraordinary- pork was a little dry, a little too spicy for my taste. More "Gringo" ingredients would have been better. Taco wasn't what I expected, but then again, my experience has mostly been with Taco Bell... A nice perk is that NCT is a BYOB eatery. The eating area is a big open, high-ceiling space, the seating area a combination of tables, benches and high-top bar. A "Day of the Dead" wall-size mural adorns the children's rec area that has a video game machine and rack full of board games. Service was on point, place squeaky clean. The atmosphere highly conducive to a relaxed family outing while enjoying your choice of imbibement. I didn't get a chance to try it, but my wife said her shrimp taco was good. She is a light-weight when it comes to spicy, so I believe her, makes me wish I ordered shrimp, it was not a meat option for the Street Taco I ordered, maybe it should be. My review is 2-stars short mostly for being out-of-steak on a early Saturday evening, and lack-luster appetizer and taco. I still think with some tweaking, this place has potential to become a 5-star spot. read more

This chow is the bomb. If you want legit Mexican fusion that is on par with some of the top notch SoCal joints, this is it. We've lived in SoCal on and off for 11 years in Oceanside/ Mission Valley/ and San Clemente. If you've ever been to Old Town SD, this joint would fit in, and thrive. Ran by a strong team all around who are insanely passionate about their craft, you will not find a bad item on the menu. We started with the guac, salsa, and Esquites (a tasty corn dip) and all three were packed with flavor...a great way to kick things off. Our group of six tried most of the tacos on the menu and every single one hit the mark. A few standouts were the Jerkinator, bahn beef and the Brocco taco. Even after all that we couldn't resist dessert, the berries and Tres Leches and the apple frittata were delicious, and the owners surprised us with churros and vanilla sauce, which was a nice touch. My husband and I FINALLY tried this new restaurant in town. It's AMAZING!!!! Don't come here if you're expecting Taco Bell, Moe's or Chipotle! What a joke! I went there, looked at the menu and order two tacos that ckearly said on the general description of a pamphlet that tgey were 6in. I drive home, opened the bag and i see two small containers. I ordered a chucjen and steak. I opened one of the containers and my jaw dropped. This taco was bately 3 inches, opened the other, the chicken taco, barely 3 inched. Heres my jaw dropping reaction... they were around 8 dollars for each... un f-ing believable! I drive back to the "fancy" restaurant. I told tge waitres that i was in disbelieve that the owners of this place are asking 8.00 for ataco thats barely 3 in. I said, "thus is ridiculous! My fiancé and I do not live close by, but we are already planning our third trip back since opening! I must be going to a different restaurant than some of the other customers with reviews because our food has always been 10/10!!! The food is flavorful and diverse, the fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with two of my new favorite sauces, and the atmosphere is chill and clearly family oriented with an excellently themed framed poster of their three boys next to the open kitchen where you can watch the magic happen! We love the creative specials that have started to pop up, but we are STILL working through trying everything they have on their menu and haven't tried anything we don't LOVE! And if you haven't tried the Agua Fresca with a nip of tequila from the liquor store next door you are SURELY missing out. The BYOB aspect of the restaurant is so convenient and the Agua Fresca uses some of the freshest ingredients in a drink I've ever tasted, with flavors that are constantly changing.
