This place is not mexican food. I could make everything on the menu at home easily. Small menu with basic food. My friend got a shrimp quesadilla. The shrimp were the little ones from a can. We ordered taquitos, they might have been the frozen ones you get at the grocery store and then fried. They were orange/reddish inside with barely any meat. Taquitos are supposed to have chicken not sauce inside. I had the pulled pork street tacos. Those were ok but why is the blue corn tortilla doubled up for each taco? Also, they only have one basic house salsa, if you ask for something hotter, they bring tapito sauce. Pluses are the service was really good and the house margaritas were good. If you are looking for authentic mexican. Stay away. If you are going for drinks, should be ok. read more

Ate happy hour food about an hour ago and it is no longer with me if you catch my drift. Ordered a happy hour margarita, calamari, empanadas, and corn. I think it was the calamari since it was mostly fried peppers. Thought it was indigestion and, as I am sitting at Trumbull Kitchen I ordered a ginger ale hoping it would pass. Nope. It full blown reversed course. I'm fine now, thanks for asking. That's how I know it was the food. Oh, and there was no ac in the restaurant except for near the bar area. I love this truck, I just wish I knew where it was going to be! The food is delicious because, of course, it's Agave. For $6 I get a huge grilled veggie burrito with lots of fresh tasting, seasonal veggies (pretty sure I had zucchini, squash, onions, peppers, and even cauliflower in one!), and really tasty sauces. The guy are quick and the food is great. Only problem is that I walk all the way out to the Old State House every farmer's market day but have no real clue if they will be there or not... some days they haven't been out because of the weather (I think, although it wasn't raining). They have a Twitter account but it hasn't been updated since July. It's a bit disappointing to go out looking forward to eating there, and then being let down for a no-show day. Delicious food!! Wonderful service. I called to let them know my group of 8 would be arriving 20 min before the kitchen was closing and they assured me it was no problem. Batches of fresh tortilla chips and tasty salsa were waiting for us when we arrived. I ordered the street corn (best I've ever had!) and the portabella and spinach quesadilla, unique offering and amazing taste. My friends were all happy with their meals. I am the only vegetarian in my group, my friends who ordered steak especially LOVED their food. It was impressive that the server asked for a temperature preference for the steak fajitas, I'm told that it is not a typical question. The spinach salad looked gorgeous. The tuna entree also looked wonderful. There were NO leftovers on the table!! Oh and they have pitchers of margaritas which was very fun. read more

These Taco's are amazing. The steak with chipotle is my favorite but when I tried the chicken with avocado sauce it was amazing too! My friend loved the pork with chipotle sauce and said that was the best taco they've ever had. Did I mention the beans were really good too along with the rice. The food is very very fresh. Although this truck is usually parked at the Old State House, on Thursdays it is parked by the farmers market on Broad Street. It has a wonderful selection of burritos for $6 and taco selections (two for $5--I think). I had the pulled chicken burrito and it was great. If there's any complaint I have about Agave's Taqueria it is that it isn't there at State House Square often enough! Always manned by the same two guys the times that I've been there, it's quick and easy and beats the nearby competition (Moe's) hands down. Portions are ample (particularly for $6) and the flavors are excellent. I've played mix and match with most of their meats and sauces in their tacos. My personal favorite is the carne asada with avocado sauce. I'll be back again and again as long as they're there. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We stopped in Agave before a Cirque Du Soleil show and were greatly disappointed. After seated at our table it took at least 15 minute for our waitress to appear, keep in mind it was 3pm and only 2 other tables we seated. Because Latonya (?) took so long to come to our table we put in our order, we split a margarita, a quesadilla, and a taco plate. After 30 more minutes of waiting around we were ready to cancel our margarita and move on but then our drink and food finally arrived. Both the dishes were cold, the rice was hard and all around not appealing. When Latonya finally can back around to check in we asked for the missing sour cream and guacamole that was suppose to come with the quesadilla and she half apologized for the margarita taking so long saying that the bartender was swamped, again there was only 2 other tables seated, only to find out the margaritas were premade and swirling around in a slushy machine. After this encounter with our waitress went missing for another 20 minutes so I had to grab a staff member behind the bar to ask for our check, which came to $70. Horrible service and bad food! We will not be back! We will definitely stick to our favorite Cafe Ocho in West Hartford for amazing service and even better food! read more
