Haven't been to this dog park in a few years. Thought I'd walk by and check it out. It's mostly the same. They've added a few large dog bridges for play. The grass is completely gone. Taken over by dirt and recently cut weeds. The trees are larger and provide more shade which is nice. I would not take my dog here anymore as I prefer the grass. Perhaps they will close it for grass re-seeding and growth. read more

Visiting from out of town and this park is near my gfs house. It's a bunch of large holes in the ground and all dirt. It's surrounded by a little fence kind of up a big dirt wall, which I wouldn't trust, especially in the evening with coyotes probably up on that hill. read more

I'm updating my review as, unfortunately, this park has been poorly maintained. I had been to this park several times with our former foster dog. Now, twice, recently, I have taken our newly adopted dog to the park. There are some very nice things about the park. First, they have ample parking and running water for the dogs. Next, they have a small dog park and a large dog park, which is the only type of park I am comfortable taking my dog to. It makes for a much safer experience. The park has limited shade, and can be very hot in the summer. My main concern at the moment, is maintenance of the park. I was there two months ago with a group of dogs ready to play in the small park, but the grass hadn't been trimmed at all. We ended up going into the large dog area, as it was not crowded that day, and had been trimmed. Yesterday, I took my dog to play with the same group of dogs. Though the grass had been trimmed in some areas, the entire area is filled with the type of grass/weed that has lots of small stickers. After only a few minutes in the area, my dog was trying to pull stickers out of her fur. Upon return home, I had to brush out several more, and even still, I continued to find stickers around the house. In general, this park has potential, but I'm not excited to go back as I worry about getting all of those stickers in my dogs fur. read more

I decided to take my pup here en route from visiting friends in Coronado as a halfway rest stop for him until arriving at home. The Nobel dog park is near the Ilumina buildings off the 5 freeway. The dog park has a good amount of running space for both big and small dogs. The fencing separates both sides for either small or big dogs. However, my pup and I arrived there in the afternoon on a weekday so maybe we went "off-peak". The dog park consists of dried out, dead grass that seems to pose a potential brush fire threat one day. My dog was pretty uninterested in playing catch with me probably because the dog field was so sad looking. This dog park is part of a larger park. So if your pup finds the dog park depressing by itself, then there are plenty of walkways around the park to walk among some baseball fields. read more

The park is all dirt which is fine. However, in the spring and summer it gets over grown with foxtails. Any dog owner knows that foxtails can cause serious issues for dogs and even become deadly. I will not take my dog to this park during foxtail season. They do not maintain this park. read more

This place is a dumpster fire. Patches of grass, multiple holes, mud and no water. How is this a dog park? Granted, the small dog area did have a sign that it was closed for repairs, but I don't know if that was just the gate to get in or the actual park. I saw little guys inside, so I'm assuming just the gate. Clementine had fun. It was her first time and a dog park, so she was nervous, but once she got in, she was fine. She barked a few times, but once she saw they other doggos running, she joined them. At the end of the day, it was nice for her to have a place to run. This was a tough one to rate. My actual rating would have been more of a 2.5 - but I always round down so as to be as honest as possible. Starting with the location and design. This dog park is placed in a well designed "recreation area" meaning that there are several other recreation fields for activities. Additionally there is a library just to the corner, and it is relatively close to UTC Mall and Major highways. The design was well thought out and in all honestly a great concept to provide two off leash areas. As many other have said, one side for Medium to Larger more active dogs, with the other side for smaller breeds and or puppies. I really enjoyed and appreciate this design. Maintenance and upkeep: Unfortunately the maintenance and upkeep was not the best. Though there is a significant amount of open room for your furry one to run and play there are a few considerations that should be noted. At the time of our visit it was covered in mainly dirt and dry mud with scattered patches of weeds and grass. Unfortunately the green weeds also were home to the little prickly burr weeds, and are scattered through out. There were a large amount of holes, obviously from fun seeking dogs carrying out their doggy digging missions. But it does not look like there is a crew that replaces the displaced dirt - and it doesn't appear that the owners do the same. The water receptacle was shut off - UNDERSTANDABLY so with todays pandemic concerns - so make sure to bring some water for your little one. Atmosphere and patrons: The atmosphere was calm and relaxed as many of the dogs there were playful and not overbearing . The patrons were friendly but also respectful of space and social distancing. We were lucky/unlucky enough to stumble upon a Dachshund meet so there were several little guys we hoped to socialize our little one with. Being out first time to introduce our little one to other dogs for the first time, we were VERY unfortunate to have an incident with a rather semi aggressive, territorial dog that snarled at our pupped and knicked his ear drawing blood. As frustrating and angering as it was for our little guy - it was more so for my self and my significant other. He after that interaction was extremely anxious around the other dogs even the ones he made friends with. So you could imagine how upset we were - doing all we could be keeping our 5 month old corgi on a leash and close to our side while he engaged the other dogs. We felt that this particular patron did not properly intervene when their dog began to intensify its posture - and there for led to the altercation. That owner never came to apologize nor did she come to check on the dog - but the others were concerned and showed some level of compassion to our little guy. Additionally we witnessed that same dog display that same repeated actions towards other dogs, and we were extremely displeased with the selfishness and discourtesy to other dogs and owners. We tried to stay and get him to socialize to the other kind dogs again but we were without success. That particular owner remained when we left so that is an indication of her lack of concern. Understanding that you cant control everything and - but i hope this last portion if anything serves as a gentle reminder of the rewards, but also the risks of social interaction between dog strangers. I am not here to say its a bad idea, instead to remind others of the possible situations we as dog parents may face. With COVID times I know its not the same, but again this is a review to help others make a decision to visit or try another park. If the items mentioned are all that a pet and owner need, then great - I am glad to have provided some insight, but if they require a little more maintained or amenities providing parks, then again - I hope this helps. read more

We haven't had much of a chance to explore many dog parks in San Diego but this was in the area when we visited Ballast Point Brewery and we wanted to give the dogs some space to stretch and run. I liked there was a big and little dog designated areas bc my yorkie is an asshole and will gang up on his american bully sister if given the chance. I dont want to give him the opportunity to test it. Anyway, There was one other patron with a dog named dakota who played with my bully and honestly my dog just likes to chase other dogs, thankfully every dog shes encountered have been well behaved and playful. In the small dog side, my yorkie loved the grass and being chased by two toy poodles. Be careful of the prickly weeds, i pulled a bunch of those arrow tip wiry weeds from his paws. Theres a bunch of holes SO make sure to not throw the ball as much over holes when theres lots of dogs present. They may forget the holes and trip and hurt themselves. It seems the other patrons like to keep to themselves but this was our first time there so it could be different at different times of the day. There's plenty of space and it looks like people respect the area so i give this place 3 stars! read more

**3.5 stars* Visiting from out of town and needed to kill a few hours with my dog. So I immediately found this dog park and tried it out. In comparison to Balboa dog park (only other San Diego dog park I've been to), this is a lot cleaner. Smaller, but doable. There's a separation between large and small dogs but if asked, owners don't mind to mix. Seems to be just as maintained as Balboa dog park (which means not well-maintained) - sure owners pick up after their dogs, but doesn't seem like the city aerates or rotates land use. Common for all dog parks: Has poopy bags. Seating for owners. A few trees for shade. Pros: Clean. Located in a family-friendly recreational park. Plenty of parking. Dog drinking fountain is foot operated (button to press is near the bowl so that you don't have to press with your hand). Cons: Not well-maintained. Smaller than most dog parks. This dog park is close to where I live so I visited it without hesitation. Most of the grass is dead as of May 2017. I love all kinds of dogs but the dogs that were there were too old and injured to do any kind of activity. They were just sitting down and chilling most of the time. This isn't a negative but if you expect your dog to have some play time, this isn't the right dog park. If your dog is retired and do not really enjoy playing, this dog park is an awesome place to just relax and get some Vitamin D! My low review mostly has to do with the poor conditions of the dog park. Lots of holes/cracks on the ground! Not much grass! Parking is great and the dog owners were all very nice but it's not appropriate for playful dogs that want to run around a lot. Probably never coming back unless they allocate some budget to maintaining this dog park. This area is pretty high-end and the recreational field is very nice so I'm surprised they(the county? city? park and rec?) abandoned this place. read more

Love this dog park. Quite obvious since I am the check in duchess, probably because it's right by my workplace. I love most of the dog owners and all our pup friends that come through, the only thing I wish was that they would patch up some of the dirt areas because it is getting quite on the dirt side for the small dog area. Overall this place is amazing and cleaner. There is a park right nearby that is not off leash however if you are away from other dogs, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be okay to toss a ball around with your dog. I have only had one bad experience here with my dog and another and it was solved in a civil manner. Make sure all you dog owners are aware of what's going on with your pup at all times... Not more occupied with your cellular device. First Saturday of every month is the Regal Beagle adoption and every so often there is a dashaund meet up :) read more

Love love love this dog park! They have the big dogs and small dogs in separate areas which is perfect for Maggie because she is a big chicken when a big dog approaches her. The people who bring their dogs here are very friendly and always strike up a conversation with you. It's pretty obvious that the owners love their dogs and want the best for them, as it should be! Maggie absolutely loves this dog park; the moment I turn into the parking lot her tail goes bezerk-o and practically jumps out of the car. Watch out for the gopher holes that start showing up around spring. A lot of dogs love digging them up so always keep an eye on your dog cause they might join in! Also, I don't recommend going to this park if it rained earlier in the day; it gets quite muddy. read more

I love this dog park, it's a pretty good size and even split for smaller/larger dogs. The county comes and drops off tennis balls for the dogs to play with. The community around even helps clean, the first Tuesday of every month you can volunteer. Sometimes some owners get really relaxed which can be annoying when you have bigger dogs but that's the people not the park. What makes this park even better is it's location. There is a library around the corner. A huge park, complete with two softball fields, basketball court, Rec Center and play park for small kids. read more

I brought my doggy here and he loved it! He didn't want to leave and he peed on everything!! When he was outta pee he pooped and thank goodness this place has free baggies to clean up after your doggy! The other dogs were cool, I'm pretty sure my dog found his new crush there(fluffy white dog,totally his type) and I also noticed people do group dog meet ups. Like the same breeds of dogs meet up. It was strange to see so many duplicates but I guess If u want your canine buddy to be all segregated then u can do that... Haha strange. This place... it just doesn't do it. He gets absolutely filthy-- (he's a corgi so he's close to the ground) The last time we visited, there was no grass, ALL dirt and mud :( I hope they renovate this place with some fake grass or some real grass! Other dog owners told me that their corgi caught an extremely bad cough last time and he was put on abx as a result.. poor thing! read more

There's clean up bags throughout the segregated areas so there is no excuse for owners not to pick up after their dogs. There is always plenty of parking and its' located in a clean and nice area. Dog owners: please be vigilant of your dog! Some people just don't follow simple common rules or have any manners. Don't bring your dog if it doesn't play well with others!!! One of the better dog parks in my area. This is the one I frequent the most when I need to have my dog get some quick exercise through fetch. Maintenance of the park could be better (poor funding maybe?), but people who come to these parks could also be a little more attentive to their pets instead of sitting around doing nothing. That being said, it's not too surprising seeing one or two doggo turds just lying around unpicked by some irresponsible owners. You'll also find that the grass is a bit lacking, but it could be a result of a mix of factors like water conservation efforts, season, dogs digging, gopher holes, etc. Beware of the holes if you do plan on running around with your dog(s). It could also benefit from lighting since some of us get home late from work and can only take our dogs to the park just as the sun is setting. All that being said, it's roomy and the dog area is divided into two (smaller and larger dogs). Easy access to the park itself with free and ample parking. There's also trees, so there's shade during some parts of the day. I used to take my dog here almost every day before I moved. This is my favorite dog park in the area. It's in a nice area right off an industrial area before the new development of apartment complexes. Plenty of parking, green grass everywhere, and people are all friendly and dogs are well mannered. I love the fact that they separate two areas for big and small dogs, as anyone who owns a small dog doesn't like seeing a giant dog attempt to play with a toy size. They also always have a water source available, along with dog bags (not the kind you take home and eat!) so if you should forget to bring either, they are available. read more

The people that visit this park routinely are very nice. The parking and rest of the park is also very nice. The park itself is dusty, full of cracks and holes in the dirt, and not very well maintained/cleaned. It looks like there used to be grass here, but it is long gone now. Flees have been reported here and I wouldn't be surprised if other parasites were linked to this park. Keep your dog on leash and run around the large playing fields nearby. read more

It's right off 805 freeway and it's a lot cleaner than most dog parks. They have separate areas for big and small dogs so that small dogs' owner doesn't have to fear for their little pooch's life (like me). Everyone is so friendly and so are their dogs big or small. They have little small water fountain just for dogs, just in case doggies get thirsty after playing. They have plenty of dog poopy bags, so please pick up after your dog =). One of my pet peeves. I take my dog here anywhere from 4 to 7 times a week, as far as dog parks go I really like it. While one cannot control what dogs show up, most of the owners have a good handle on their dogs. They have trash bags lining the fences for easy cleaning (and most owners are very good about this here), however only one drinking fountain right at the gate which can be awkward at times. The shape of the park makes it very easy to chuck a ball fairly far so that your dog can get some really good exercise in. As for the people, most of the people here are really friendly. I have run into instances where people believe they are the dog whisperer and feel as though they can tell you everything that is wrong with your dog- but most have been very complimentary of my own dog. As well you run into the owners who are scared at every little interaction your dog makes with theirs for fear your dog will attack them- but for those people I just typically take my dog to the other end of the park- and since this park is so long it makes it very easy to separate your dog from another if you notice something is off. I believe that those who have posted reviews saying it is too small- have not experienced enough dog parks in San Diego to know this is about as good as it gets for a Dog Park! read more

Pros: This dog park is the closest to my apartment. I take Gibbs (my corgi) to this dog park once in a while. It's busy most of the time when I get there so Gibbs can play with other dogs. Gibbs is totally a dog dog, meaning he doesn't care about people. He only likes to play with other dogs. There are doggie bags on the fence all over the dog park. There are one Pokemon go gym in the small dog area so I can play Pokemon go while Gibbs plays with other dogs. Cons: There are flea or ticks? Gibbs always end up stratching himself after going here. We have a lot of rain lately in San Diego so this dog park gets muddy. Gibbs can get really dirty here. Also, some people didn't pick up after their dogs so it's kinda dirty. Last time I came over at night with Gibbs, I ended up stepping on poop/mud thingy and my shoes smell freaking gross. Dog owners need to be more responsible here! read more

It's not huge, but it's fine for dog socialization purposes. I bring my pup here just to meet and be around different dogs, not as the primary means of fulfilling his exercise needs. I come here in the evenings after work, and MOST of the people I've met are young professionals who are responsible dog owners. There are occasionally some older people with grumpy dogs that act out, but in general I have never felt that my dog is unsafe here. I like that most of the owners I've met here are willing to participate in shaping positive behaviors for ALL the dogs, not just their own. For example, they will turn away if a dog jumps on them, they will step in to resolve a scuffle, they will correct mounting and inappropriate play, etc. While everyone should be responsible for their own dog, I do feel it's important to help one another out for the betterment of the doggy community, and that's what I look for in a good dog park. read more

This is a good dog park located in a sports park complex that is convenient and has plenty of parking. The pro is separated into an over 30lbs and an under 30lbs park. Both parks share the main entrance and both are a good size so that the small dogs can run to their hearts content! The surface is mostly dusty dirt with a bit of grass on the edges. Not a bad dog park, but fairly small in size. Located in a really nice area there is plenty of parking on a Saturday and not a lot of other dogs. There is a water fountain and separate small dog space which is nice for a city park. It has a lot of holes and gophers if you have hunting dogs (they'll be entertained but watch out for digging!). Very friendly visitors while I was there and polite dogs, which can be a big surprise for those of you who have encountered the difficult dog/clueless owner phenomena in San Diego. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. If you have to drive very far I'd recommend checking out Fiesta Island Dog Park or Ocean Beach if you have a very active dog. read more
