Amazing and quick service. I needed to get my wedding ring and band resized and was looking for a quote. I walked in and received service right away. The owner Ken, quoted me a very affordable rate to resize my rings and had a super quick (just 3 hours) turn around. I returned to pick up my rings and was very impressed by how sparkly and clean they were. He also gave me a discount for being a Santa Monica resident. I will definitely be using his services in the future to care for all my jewelry and I will be recommending him to my coworkers. Also, his prices are better than most shops in the area. read more

I love antique and vintage jewelry. I noticed this store a few times walking from the 4th street garage to the 3rd street promenade. They have a nice selection of antique and vintage jewelry. Rings, necklaces, earrings, etc.... I noticed that they have a good selection of engagement and wedding bands. We bought our wedding bands here on a whim. We needed to get them - so I dragged my husband in here. We really enjoyed trying on different rings and ended up selecting 2 antique gold bands (80-100 years old) for about $850. His band was a really beautiful wide thin ring - that isn't made anymore. I got a smaller worn white gold band. I would ask if they can do a better price - they knocked off $50 the initial offer. I think that we could have gotten a better deal, but we were able to check one thing off of our wedding list. After getting married, my husband was bothered by the fit of his band. So we went back into the shop and they resized the ring at no charge ( no extra material was needed and they did it on the spot!) read more

Don't go for an Appraisal. When I lived in L.A. I went to Nobel Gems often and Ken was friendly and pleasant. Recently I had to have a ring, he had appraised, reappraised for insurance purposes and discovered several mistakes. He said it was 14 K white gold when it is actually 18K - which makes it more valuable- but under weighed the size of the sapphire - which makes it less valuable. read more

I stumbled upon this jewelery store/repair shop as I was walking to another jewelery store.They did not come up in yelp when I did a previous search for jewelry repair places. I was looking for a place to have 4 watches serviced. I had a gut instinct (which, I believe we should listen to more often) to stop in and give them a shot. A gentlemen name Kia was very kind and efficient. He told me he would be done with re-sizing (taking 4 links out of a metal band) a watch, replacing the batteries in 2 others and attempting to find out why another had stopped working. Upon returning, he had taken out the links reassuring me that if I should need one added in the future (since I broke my arm and have lost mass in it), he would do it at no charge. The best part was that he only charged me $10 to re-size my watch!! He replaced the battery of another for $12. Kia was honest and told me not to waste $ with the other 2 since they are costume and not worth investing in. I appreciate his honesty and time efficiency. The first time I walked in, it was for a simple battery replacement. I had my watch adjusted and functioning in no time. The second time was two days ago, when I brought in that same watch due to condensation buildup. I was told to come back today to pick it up, and it's fine now. The notable part is that I wasn't charged anything, though I was more than happy to pay. Nobel custom made and fitted a diamond engagement ring for my fiance. Very happy to say she said yes, and even happier to report they were kind, communicable, and very upfront and honest. My fiance loves the ring and we're glad we chose local so we can stop by often to get the ring cleaned. We have walked by Nobel many times and have window shopped. Based on a referral from a good friend, we took in some old family pieces for repair/re-sizing. Working with Ken was a pleasure! The prices for this work were reasonable and the turn-around time terrific. We also took some family heirloom jewelry in for evaluation and Ken spent considerable time meticulously reviewing each piece, explaining what he was looking for, estimating age and value and, in some cases, letting us know where the piece was manufactured. It was a fascinating and educational afternoon. These guys are really great. I've bought several pieces of vintage/estate jewelry from them, and I've always felt like I've received a good deal from trustworthy people. They are second or third generation jewelers and. It really seems like they're more interested in a long term relationship with you rather than one sale. Just awful I just drove 30 miles to an appointment here after I was told to come back when I had came there this morning as he was busy. After about 10 minutes of discussing options there were not many as he did not seem interested in what I was asking about. a sales person maybe the owner opens the curtain and says "o not you again." I thought he was joking.. Nope he promptly says "don't sell anything to this guy he's not going to buy get him out of my store!!! " "get out!" ???? What!!!.. How lame. I told him a few months back ill come back when I was ready.. So here I am like I said I would be, as I respect sales people and small business and the time that they invest. I am a very loyal person ready to buy as I'm going out of town with my girl this weekend. Now I need to find a new jeweler apparently. The guy who owns this place is awesome! He was extremely nice and explained everything before sizing my ring. Since it was vermeil, there could be some differences in my ring after getting it sized. I was nervous since it was an expensive ring, but I decided to take the chance on there being a little discoloration. He said it would take 30 minutes and he called in 15 and had it finished and polished. So happy with how it fits! On top of that, no discoloration. It was only $15 and I'll definitely be taking other jewelry repairs there. read more

i had a good experience with these guys to begin with. they re-did a ring for me and the results were good. i spotted a bracelet that i was interested in and decided to "sleep on it". upon returning in a few weeks to take a second look, they had raised the price from $800 to $1,200 and told me that i had mis-understood the first time. I obviously decided to pass since I saw no reason for a price increase. when i decided to pull the trigger, i went back and when i asked what the best price they could give me was, they said $1,400. i was outraged...when i reminded them of the price they quoted me during my last visit, he had the audacity to tell me "they gotta pay rent". so do i. worst part is that i work at a very high end boutique and would constantly refer my clients there. never again. read more

I brought in 2 necklaces for repair, one was a fabulous turquoise necklace that was my mothers, Kia repaired it and put in a back up support system so it won't break again. The other was a fun costume piece from Anthropology that had several missing connectors. Not only did he replace the missing ones, but he strengthened all the others. I highly recommend Nobel Gems to anyone looking to be treated kindly, fairly and most important- Honestly- when in need of Jewelry repair or finding beautiful rings... I found Nobel Gems here on yelp after taking my Antique Engagement ring to Readers Jewelers in Santa Monica to be re-sized (as it was too small) and Readers told me -after holding it for 2 days- that my ring could not be re-sized at all. Readers also quoted me DOUBLE what Nobel ended up charging me and were very apathetic and pretentious in their attitude towards me as I had not purchased the ring there but was an Antique.., When I went to pick up my ring at Readers, I explained that I was very disappointed that they could not help me as I had researched and knew that most rings- even antiques- can be re-sized and that it was my Engagement ring ... Obviously I needed to wear this ring specifically not purchase a new one ...My fiance gave it to me and it was a special family heirloom and very sentimental to them ... Plus -hello- its my Engagement ring! Not some random unimportant object...Anyhow...Readers then changed their tune and said that it could in fact be resized...but...it would be misshapen and I could leave it and have them try. I said "No thank You" and immediately went over to Nobel whom I had called after reading their review here on Yelp...I was immediately taken care of at Nobel and treated with complete respect and even excitement over the special occasion and meaning behind it. I was told of course it can be done and they would have it for me by tomorrow and it would only be about $75 as he had to add some gold to it. I was so happy and relieved to finally have someone help me and that I could finally actually wear my Engagement ring . I then received a phone call 2 hours later saying that it was almost done and to come and pick it up ! I They did an exquisite job and it is not Misshapen as I was told by Readers Jewelers that it would be...In fact its perfect and seamless. I love vintage and antique jewelry, specifically Victorian, and the owners of Nobel love the pieces they sell.
