An hour or two later texted main-number again as no call from Erin-finally she texted with 3 pm apt. Day of apt Erin cancelled at 10 am. No offer to find another. Texted main line and Erin-eventually owner found Florence to cut hair at 6 pm. Showed a picture of haircut I wanted-soft, layers, just above shoulders. Received a one-length, blunt cut above chin length. Simply awful. Very disappointing. No return planned. Stars only for short-notice booking. read more

The last time I was in a salon was 3 months before lockdown. So, when I came to Nobel Salon, I was saddled with 2 years worth of long hair, the barest of bare basics of how to style it (thanks YouTube), and the heavy weight of obliviousness regarding what to even cut from all that hair. All I knew was that I loved having long hair and wanted to do something with it. I googled some good looking long hair styles for men, saved the photos to my phone, and called for an appointment. Getting the appointment was a painless process. At first I got the salon's answering machine but Janie texted me a few minutes later to help me make an appointment. Within a few moments and a few taps on my phone, I was scheduled for the next day. When the time came, Janie gave me the professional opinion that I desperately needed. She looked at me, eyeballed my hair, and asked me what I would like to do. I nervously mumbled out a string of what I liked and didn't like about my long hair, and what I wanted to keep. I also sheepishly showed the photos I had saved earlier to which Janie pointed out what would and wouldn't work well with my hair. What really impressed me during all of this was how Janie knew exactly what to do based on my wild ramblings. First, my hair went almost to my waist. She told me that if I'm going for a shorter cut then I should donate my hair. I agreed and she gave me a donation cut with instructions of who and where to donate the ponytail to. Second, she washed my hair, gave me incredible styling advice, and informed me of what she recommends as far as cuts go. After a short consultation, she sculpted one of the most comfortable hair cuts I've ever had from the mane I walked in with. I swear, I feel like a soft cloud is living on my head now and I love it. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I plan to come here regularly whenever I need to do anything with my hair. Thanks again Janie! read more

I'm a client who when I like a hair cutter I stay with them forever. When they move I follow them. My last hair cutter recently got married and moved to Minnesota. I dreaded the idea of searching for a new person. I liked the reviews of Nobel Salon, it's near my house so I thought I'd give them a try. Janie was like a instant old friend. Her technique is next level. I'd never gotten my hair cut this way. I walked out feeling pretty good, then after a day or so for my hair to settle, its exactly as I had hoped it would be. I highly recommend Janie although I must say the shop was very busy with most of the chairs taken so I'd say Nobel Salon deserves it high rating. read more

The 3* rating is not for any work done at the salon unfortunately it is because of a scheduling conflict on the side of the stylist. I was texted 1hr before my appointment and informed me she double booked that time slot and could fit me in a couple of days later on the weekend. She made clear she was sorry in her text messages with me, nonetheless unprofessional since she was the one that picked that time slot. In my initial correspondence with the salon, I stated the 2 days I was hoping to squeeze in a cut and would be open to any time slot since I worked close by. Guess none of that info got passed along because suggesting moving me to the weekend did not take into account that I would have to drive 25miles on a day off, not to mention it was not in the 2-day time block. They were nice enough to try and squeeze me in with only 2 days' notice just wish the salon would have said we do not have any openings and let me make other arrangements instead of waiting until 1hr before. It would have been my first visit to Nobel Salon and with this being my experience I will pass on visiting in the future. read more

Horrible hair cut!! My stylist, Florence, ended up chopping off WAY MORE hair than what I requested. I showed her exactly how much I wanted cut off, and even showed her a picture of what I was looking for. I walked out of the salon basically with a bob, when I made it very clear I wanted my hair to go past my shoulders. While the salon itself was clean and a friendly environment, I will not be going back and highly recommend you look elsewhere. read more

I love Alana at Nobel Salon! I fly in from Idaho to have her do my hair! That's how awesome she is! I'm a brunette and wanted to be a blonde. But I also wanted low maintenance and it had to grow out well. I had been to many other salons in downtown La Jolla and tried to other people who claimed they were blonde specialists. I paid an arm and a leg and it was never blonde enough. I went to Alana one time and she just knew what I wanted and made my hair exactly the way I asked! She is amazing with color! Also, when I asked for a cut, she did a nice trim; didn't take too much off and again listened to exactly what I wanted.
