The taco pizzas are a very nice version of a taco pizza, nothing fancy, good amount of taco meat and beans. Both crusts were perfect and the mozzarella is cooked to a golden brown, with good flavor. Richelle really likes the lightness of the deep dish crust with a good crunch and no greasy at all. The taco salad was OK, nothing special, imagine if the Ortega folks had a taco salad box mix. We can't wait to try a different pizza next time, because, the taco pizza was good, but I'm think the other specialty pizza will be better. Service is friend, and for us to walk in make a take out order and have two pizza in less then 15 minutes on a Friday night exceeds my expectations. Dining area was clean and family friendly.

However, last night, we ordered a large pizza with cheesy strips... and it was a disaster. The pizza was so thin it was like paper. The cheesy strips couldn't be eaten because they were way overcooked. I called in and asked for it to be remade. The woman who answered was super nice and said of course and that they were trying out a new crust for their pizzas and they thanked me for the feedback. She said it would be about 25 mins for it to be remade. No big deal. But when I went to get the "new" order, it was the exact same. It was almost 9pm and I didn't feel like complaining again. So all of it got pitched. $32 down the drain... I don't know if they changed the cooking time for their items or if they're trying out all new foods.... But we unfortunately won't be back unless it changes back to how it was.

Ok, maybe not all that but it did give my wife and me a rush of nostalgia from simpler days gone by when service was fast, friendly, polite, and hung on a tray from your driver's side window. Not all A&Ws are the same or have the same menu. Some I've gone in are very modern and have the typical surly fast food help, sticky chairs, and so-so food with good rootbeer. Pulling into this A&W seems like little has changed in all the right ways. Pickup trucks lined up on our side with farmers, construction workers, and other blue-collar folks to have lunch. Friendly staff come out to the car and take your order, only now they have remote card readers. But the menu board painted on plywood in front of the cars is still there. The waitresses still wear those chrome change devices on their hips and they still know how to count back change correctly (few people do anymore). Our food came out fast, it was good and fairly priced. We listened to the farm report and investment news for agriculture on the radio while we enjoyed a meal from the tray mounted on the window. Even simple things like bringing out a cold bottle of catchup for the fries instead of those little wasteful foil packets that create a lot of trash matter. When you're done, you turn on your headlights and someone comes out and collects the tray. As we drove away I put on a 50s rock and roll playlist on my iPhone and we both said if we lived here we would be in every week. Upon finishing our meal I noticed that there were three backs in the pieces that were left over. How do you get three backs out of 1.5 chickens? They obviously don't check for the right number of parts. It's seems a small thing to complain about but at $50 for the meal the backs have nearly no meat on them and so it actually raises the cost of the meal. I called ahead and they were very prompt in bringing the food out and the young lady was very courteous who delivered the food and took the payment. The old drive up restaurants are always cool to visit, it seems to take you back in time.
