    Primrose hill cocktail
    Jazz A.

If you are looking for some souther barbecue in Charlotte look no further this is the place to be ! Noble smoke on freedom drive has plenty of seating indoor and outside ! With an outdoor bar area too ! We ordered a few different food options to try a little of everything ! First I ordered the primrose hill cocktail which contained gin, Prosecco, lavender, lemon and st Germain . And it was amazing the perfect blend of all flavours no to strong not to lavendery and not to lemony which is very important and difficult to do so huge shout out to the bartender !! Their service was great ! everyone was so nice and friendly , service with a smile ! Next we ordered 1/4 of the smoked chicken , pulled pork , brisket , homemade sausage , with a side of Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts ! I must say the Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts were the perfect sides to go with the food ! Both were amazing and highly recommend !! And the Brussels sprouts were roasted and served with a chipotle type aioli which was amazing ! The brisket and the homemade sausage was my top favourites ! The brisket was sooo tender ( easily sliced with a fork ) absolutely amazing and didn't need any extra sauce. Same with the sausage and chicken both cooked perfectly ! The pulled pork was a little too dry for me .. but paired well with the sauces. The barbecue sauces are vinegar based ( makes them thinner . I do personally prefer a thicker base ... but regardless good flavours) Overall highly recommend ! Good drinks ! Good food ! Good service and good atmosphere! Overall 4.5 /5 Will definitely be back

If you are in Charlotte and love or for some reason haven't tried Carolina-style pork or Texas-style brisket, you are in for a treat! The biggest issue you will have is trying to figure out what to order because it is all delicious! Noble Smoke was a perfect spot for a surprise party. Their spacious event space is down a side hallway that conveniently hides your 50+ guests until you walk through the door. This open and airy restaurant is in an old building that was once a garage for tractor-trailers used by A&P supermarkets. While we were waiting on the food to be served, we tried their delicious pimento cheese served with toasted rye. The bread was crunchy but had a bit of a stale after taste. Thankfully, the bread was just a vessel for more pimento cheese. We also their had housemade sausage that had a tiny bit of heat (maybe jalapeños?) and deviled eggs. All tasty finger foods to keep us occupied while we were waiting on the rest of dinner to arrive. When the food arrived, everything was served in white dutch ovens which looked very nice. We were fortunate that this party was our introduction to their menu because we had a chance to try just about every smoked meat on the menu from the super tender Creekstone Prime beef brisket, Cheshire pork ribs where the meat just falls right off the bone, chopped Cheshire pork, and pulled BBQ chicken. Every meat was flavorful and tender. The brisket was definitely my favorite. They had 3 BBQ sauces: Lex Sauce (vinegar based), Smoke Sauce (sweet and tangy), and Sauce 19 (ground mustard, citrus, sweet heat). I liked them all but Sauce 19 is at the top of my list. Of all the sides, I went back for seconds on the Miss Mary's tangy, sweet, and tender collards and their baked macaroni and cheese. Good news if you are not sure if you like the Eastern style, creamy mayo based white slaw or the Western style tangy, vinegar based red slaw? They have both and both were very good! We also tried the Margaux's succotash which had a nice flavor and the Anson Mills hushpuppies. I think I would have liked the pups better if I had dipped them in their sauces but honestly, with having the option to try all of these delicious dishes at once, I would not have enough room to eat more than one! The next time we are in the area, we definitely plan to try their pickled shrimp and fried orka! Overall, Nobles was an awesome choice to host a big party. Everyone loved the food and the venue.

This was an excellent BBQ spot with a great selection of local beers on tap. Our waiter was fast and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chopped Cheshire pork sandwich. Easily some of the best BBQ I've had in a while. The baked mac and cheese was especially creamy, rich, and full of flavor. To top it off, I had the Heath banana pudding for dessert. It was the perfect sweet finish to an already great meal. Overall, this place is hands down one of the best BBQ spots I've been to. I would definitely come back and highly recommend it.

No! This is not thanksgiving although we ate like it was! We couldn't decide what to get so we ordered it all! There are so many great things to say about this place but the main thing is we love that it's consistent! We love that we can bring people here who come to visit and it's a great experience just like our last one! The food did not disappoint and my favorite is-- all of it! Each protein really has its own unique flavors and I can't say that I'd prefer the tender brisket over the smoked turkey! The sides were amazing and I don't know what y'all do to them field peas but keep doing it! If you're looking for BBQ that feels and tastes like home look no further! The customer service is always exceptional as well!

Delicious BBQ spot with good local beers on tap and fast service. Went here with coworkers and we tried all the meats. Really enjoyed the brisket, sausage and turkey -- all three were exceptional! Onion rings were exceptional too. Also notable was how fast the food arrived. Restaurant is beautiful and lots of space. I would go back here and take friends.

I start all my BBQ reviews by stating I live just down the road from the Center of the BBQ Universe, Lockhart, TX. I believe this gives me insight into what good Que can taste like. I only got the brisket and spicy sausage, because I couldn't finish a 3rd meat. The sausage was tasty, but simply too tough. The outer casing was very robust (to put it mildly). the brisket started off tasty, but was just a little dry and not as tender as I am accustomed to. I noticed the bar had many pictures from the owner's travel to various BBQ sites around the area including some from Texas. I have eaten at Blacks and Smitty's, both from Lockhart, TX, and those are some of the best tasting samples I have every tried. I'll try the ribs next time or I may try Midwood, they were good last time I was in town.

Noble Smokehouse absolutely delivered and is hands down some of the best BBQ we have had. From the moment we sat down our server made the experience even better. They were personable, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. The atmosphere is perfect for a casual night out with TVs everywhere for football, plenty of space so you are not packed in, and a great outdoor area if you want to enjoy the fresh air. We ordered a spread to share family style with mac and cheese, fries, brisket, wings, and a burger. Everything comes a la carte which makes it easy to mix and match. Every single dish hit the mark. The brisket was melt in your mouth, the wings had great flavor, the burger was juicy, and the mac and cheese was pure comfort food done right. If you are looking for top notch BBQ in a fun and relaxed setting Noble Smokehouse should be on your list. We will definitely be back.

    Pan-fried Corn
    Ian N.

Beef Rib (5/5): On special. Very juicy and beefy but a little too fatty and a little too salty. Pan-fried Corn (4/5): Tasted like canned sweet corn doused in butter which is exactly what I was hoping for. Pimento Cheese (4/5): The toast was fantastic. The pimento cheese was just ok. Not creamy enough or tangy enough. Brussel Sprouts (3/5): Not much seasoning on the brussels and the sauce wasn't anything special. Fried Okra (3/5): Nicely fried with not too much batter. I'm just not a huge fan of okra. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

Ample parking. Tons of seating inside. Location in Freemore West is great for an uptown / Southend lunch break or date night. Our server was okay, not great but okay. Food was good.

These were hands down the best fried okra I've ever had. They were not overly breaded and had great flavor. The brisket was tender and very juicy. The crust was decent but I normally like a bit more salt peppery tasting crust. The spare ribs were good as well. Decent flavor and not too tender which is what I love. The fried corn and slaw were also good. I'd definitely come back to this place. The service was friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere was interesting. The space has high ceilings and a nice bar. I saw an outside seating.

I was looking for something in around the Charlotte area for a quick lunch:dinner after a flight and found this on Yelp. It is probably a 10 minute drive from the airport tops. The place looks to be an old industrial building that has been retrofit. The beer selection is extensive, however, is most mostly craft brews from local breweries with very few national brands. I had an English ale that I thought was very good. I sat at the par in the service was friendly. For the most part, everything is à la cart so it is a little difficult if you are alone to try multiple things. I ended up getting the ribs, which was about a half rack of ribs and a quarter pound of the special of the day which was smoked pork loin. I also got pan fried corn as a side.. Service was very prompt probably under five minutes. The pork loin had some sort of relish on it, which complemented the pork. The pork was outstanding. The ribs were very good as was the pan, fried corn, but the pork loin was the star of the show. A little on the expensive side, but definitely some ribs for lunch tomorrow. Apparently, the pork is a sundae special so if in the area on a Sunday, I think I will go and get a larger portion of the pork.

This space is huge. It is dog friendly outside tables. There is plenty of room and never have had any type of wait time. The shrimp appetizer is a no-no. It starts with lemon and ends with licorice or anise. Ate it cause well who lets shrimp go to waste but no no no. The rib special was not worth the $43. There wasn't as much meat as expected. The flavors were there, the meat wasn't. The creamed corn seemed like standard pan fried corn. The onion rings always hitting can never get enough. Loved the hush puppies and only place we get collards. Always solid offerings at Noble.

Went for a work dinner. Private parking lot made it easy. Hostess greeted us immediately and sat us quickly. The atmosphere has a gastropub feel to it. Very cool. Our server was absolutely amazing. Wish I could remember her name. The 2 folks with me had never been. She took time to walk them through the menu and help with suggestions. We went straight to main courses. I got a 1/2 lb of brisket and a 1/2 lb of pork. No sides. Both were very good although I did like the pork especially. 3 "knocks" 1. No deviled eggs on the menu. That needs to be a staple. 2. No spicy bbq option. They should add. 3. No wetnaps. Surprised me. Highly recommend!

Ask the Community - Noble Smoke

Does Smoke serve beer or ciders?

I know they have beer but not sure about cider.

Do they allow dogs, either inside, outside, or both?

    Outside, dogs ok.

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes. Reservations are highly recommended

I was in NC a couple of weeks ago and I ate at Noble for the first time. i ate my very first brussel sprout while there. Lord Have Mercy! I want more. I live in South Florida so i'm asking if anyone knows how they cook them? Specifically the sauce

Not sure if this is exact but in this area most brussel sprouts are tossed in salt and pepper and olive oil in a 400 oven. Toss them around until they are beautifully charred. Remove from oven and toss a balsamic reduction/glaze on them.

In the heat ( very hot) condition meaning weather how safe are they these places that serve?

If I understand your question, I would say that the food is quite safe, as are customers. While there is outside seating, most tables are inside in the air conditioning.

After striking out at two other BBQ spots on a Saturday night, I landed at Mac's Speed Shop around…read more8:30 p.m. and ended up having a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Mac's sits in the heart of South End and shares the neighborhood with several busy bars and nightlife spots. Parking can be a bit of an adventure, but they do have dedicated lots nearby. Once you're there, the setup is great: a large dining room, plenty of picnic-table patio seating, and my favorite option--a seat at the outdoor bar where the inside bar opens through a service window to the patio. The bartender, Alyssa, was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient while I stared at the giant menu trying to figure out what I wanted. When I asked for recommendations, she immediately suggested the burnt ends, BBQ baked beans, and Mexican street corn. Excellent call. The blackberry seasonal hard cider she recommended was delicious and paired beautifully with the meal. My only surprise was the price. At nearly $9, it was more than I expected for a cider, and I wish I had asked beforehand. The burnt ends arrived with bright pickled red onions that added the perfect acidic balance. The flavor was excellent--smoky, rich, and satisfying. That said, they leaned heavily toward the fatty side. The deeper I got into the serving, the more rendered fat I encountered compared to meat. Delicious? Yes. Light? Absolutely not. The BBQ baked beans were exactly what you want from a barbecue joint. The Mexican street corn was a standout and a refreshing contrast to all the richness. My only critique was that the burnt ends weren't served quite as hot as I would have liked, and by the end of the meal, the richness became overwhelming. That's probably more on me for ordering burnt ends at 9 p.m. than on Mac's. The final bill came to about $37 before tip, which felt a little steep for a solo barbecue dinner and cider. Looking back, I'd probably visit during lunch. Their weekday lunch specials around $10 look like one of the best values in South End. Would I come back? Absolutely. The service was warm, the recommendations were spot on, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the food delivered exactly what a barbecue craving calls for. Next time, I'll arrive earlier, bring a bigger appetite, and maybe save the burnt ends for lunchtime. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. If you're exploring South End and craving barbecue, Mac's Speed Shop is worth a stop.

They didn't promise "fall off the bone" so I can't expect that, but most places I get ribs they just tear apart. This took work, and the mass of BBQ sauce slathered on makes the surgery a mess. So, that was a bummer. The tots lack creativity or any sort of seasoning which seems like an easy upgrade and a crowd pleaser. Oh well. Maybe I got there in a bad day, but if this is standard then I can't see not going to Noble Smoke next time I need ribs.

The brisket deserves its own paragraph buttery, juicy, and sliced just right. The sides are not an afterthought here, and that alone sets this place apart. Cheddar cornbread muffins are no joke. mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the baked potato was loaded and generous, and the onion rings had a satisfying crunch.
