The Roasting Company is a classic Charlotte staple that has been holding it down on Montford for years. Their menu is primarily based around rotisserie chicken, and combines some elements of Latin American cuisine eats with Southern comfort food. They have a very laid back vibe with an impressive tap room to crush some beers in. I like to get the chicken with queso and rice. Very tasty, very filling, just an all around comfort meal plus you get a side of cornbread. I haven't had a chance to try their wings yet but I am very eager to. Whether you are in the mood for a wrap, a bowl, or an entire rotisserie chicken, they have you covered.

A Charlotte oldie but goodie!! I love that you place your order at the window. They keep it simple, comfort-food AND delicious! Their food is consistent and flavorful. Service is great! For seating they have mostly booths and several tables. They have Coca-Cola Products, insert heart emoji here. The environment is friendly and neighborhood-like. Parking on Montford can be a little complicated, especially at peak times but nothing Impossible.

I was looking for some veggies to eat for dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant. There weren't many customers after the lunch hours. I ordered pinto beans, mac & cheese, greens, and mashed sweet potatoes. Initially, with the veggies served in individual, small containers, I thought I wasn't getting enough. After serving myself half o the portions, I realized the serving sizes were perfect. The vegetables were pretty good and I loved the pinto beans. With a varied menu and daily specials, you can't go wrong with this restaurant. I welcome the opportunity to return for more.

Excellent experience and my first time here! As soon as we walked in we were greeted. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Food came quick, portion sizes were great and they even had a salsa/sauce bar where you could help yourself. I got the rotisserie salad which was huge and loaded with chicken. My partner got the 1/4 chicken with collard greens. Lots of seating inside and out and a full bar with plenty of bar seating! Highly recommend!

Tons of seating, great outdoor table options, FAST service of food, LOVE the daily selections, LOVE the side offerings. GREAT prices. Things I LOVED: * NOT OVERLY SWEET - food items were actually savory and not full-on-southern-sweet * Cornbread muffin. Tasted like cornbread with corn and NOT sweet * LOVE the dill potatoes... again NOT sweet, but dill-flavored and not overly wet, and perfectly cooked potato * GENEROUS brisket portion on the sandwich * GENEROUS fries portion * GENEROUS dill-potato portion Okay let's talk about some of the missed opportunities here: * Chicken was a bit dry... BUT I did come at the end of the day * Chicken as a bit SMALL... the 1/4 dark i buy from Harris is like 3x bigger * Brisket was SALTY... BUT maybe because I have cut down recently and now I am hyper-sensitive * Drink dispenser area was a MESS... BUT maybe because I arrived at the end of the day * I THINK there was sweet tea available... but i am not going to trust an open carafe to pour from with no label on it * Fries were SUPER salty... BUT again, maybe i am over-sensitive right now I DO want to go back and try the Pot Pie (which was sold out...) so maybe I update this again in the future?

Great place for a laid back experience with a beer and/or and rotisserie chicken dinners. We stumbled upon the place looking for outdoor dining on a Friday night and saw this place and decided to commit :) It's super casual. If you eat at the bar, it's full service. If the bar is full or you want to sit on the patio, you simply order the food at the counter (they will bring it out to you) and then go order your drinks directly at the bar. The beer selection was solid and apparently on Friday's drafts are super cheap (only $4.25 for a Wooden Robot IPA). My bride ordered the Texas Bowl ($10) and really enjoyed it. Usually bowls are mostly rice, but in this case it was light on rice and loaded with all the other ingredients. I went with the signature rotisserie chicken - all white half portion with one side ($12) of baked beans and I really loved it. The chicken was a healthy portion and perfectly cooked. The sauces were limited...but I found one spicy one that was solid. Staff was super friendly!

Hadn't been here in years only because I never go down that part of town very often . So glad we were in the hood and stop by for a delicious dinner. It was exactly what we remembered and the food was delicious. I had 1/4 chicken with rice and beans . The hubs had a 1/4 chicken with sweet potato's and squash casserole. He loved it ! I did too . It was delicious! Also the corn bread was off the hook delicious. Two thumbs way up

Casual place, lots of choices and great food. You can walk in and order or get full service from the bar. We walked in and ordered and then just did bar drinks separately. Super nice staff. I tried the queso chicken with squash casserole and white bean au gratin, it also came with a jalapeño cornbread muffin. Had a jalapeño pale ale draft as well. Others with me had the half of chicken, the chicken salad, and the chicken barbecue sandwich. Fresh food, tender shredded chicken, good easy vibe. I didn't have a bad thing to say about anything, really flavorful sides and they had a large assortment of options. I would recommend for families or if you are looking for easy home cooking quality. The portions are large as well and the meals are very inexpensive. I only took one pic unknowingly but it is enough for you to get an idea of the food.

Flights from Guatemala would arrive, and passengers would walk off the plane carrying bags of Pollo Campero. The aroma was unforgettable. Ever since then, I've been curious about what made this chicken so special. Fast forward to Charlotte, and now I finally understand the hype. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the four-piece roasted chicken meal with sweet plantains, coleslaw, and a roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The chicken was juicy and packed with spices that set it apart from your typical fast-food chicken chain. It's hard to explain until you try it, but the seasoning has a distinctive flavor that makes Pollo Campero uniquely its own. The sweet plantains were excellent. Soft, caramelized, and sweet with those slightly crispy edges that make plantains so addictive. The coleslaw was cold, creamy, and crunchy, which paired perfectly with the chicken. The service was friendly, the value was excellent, and my order was accurate. I always take a moment to check my order before leaving the drive-thru, and everything was exactly right. If your fried chicken experience begins and ends with KFC, Bojangles, or Church's, give Pollo Campero a try. It's a delicious taste of Guatemala and a reminder that great chicken comes in many forms. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte.

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. If you're looking for something in a known quantity along South Boulevard near the light rail, this will work nicely. [Review 728 of 2025 - 4162 in North Carolina - 24288 overall]
