We went all in on the meats: smoked chicken salad, spareribs, pulled chicken, Carolina-style pork, and BBQ brisket. Every single protein was fall-off-the-bone tender with that perfect smoke ring and deep, layered flavor you can only get from a pit master who actually knows what they're doing. The brisket deserves its own paragraph buttery, juicy, and sliced just right. The sides are not an afterthought here, and that alone sets this place apart. Cheddar cornbread muffins are no joke. mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the baked potato was loaded and generous, and the onion rings had a satisfying crunch. The baked beans had that slow-cooked depth, the collard greens were perfectly seasoned, and the coleslaw was crisp and refreshing ,a great palate cleanser between bites. And then there was the brisket chili. Smoky, hearty, and packed with chunks of real brisket , it's the kind of bowl that makes you wish you saved more room. I really wanted to like this place, but our visit was a letdown from start to finish. The service was the first red flag. It took almost an hour and a half to get our food. When we asked about the delay, our server, Justice, apologized but explained that he had to make drinks for other tables, so we'd just have to wait. The restaurant was dead when we visited, yet we still sat there largely unnoticed for far too long. When a place is that empty and you're still being ignored for 90 minutes, that says a lot. The food didn't make the wait worth it. The pulled pork was fatty and unpleasant, and the barbecue sauce was bland and watery -- not what you want from a barbecue joint. To make matters worse, no additional sauces were offered even when we specifically asked. The sausage came out burnt. My son ordered lean brisket and got a plate that was essentially all fat. Another son tried to order ribs, only to be told they were out. The one bright spot was the brisket chili, which was genuinely excellent -- but one good dish can't carry an entire meal. The fries were fine, nothing more. The value doesn't add up either. A combo plate at $24 that doesn't even include brisket is honestly a little absurd for a barbecue restaurant. Bottom line: between the poorly prepared food, the missing menu items, the questionable pricing, and service that left us waiting nearly 90 minutes, we would not recommend Jim N' Nick's and won't be coming back. read more

They cancelled the order at 12, and when my brother called to investigate, the self-described "online manager" admitted they were in no danger of being short on food but still unilaterally decided to cancel ALL online orders to FORCE customers to come into the store to buy individual plates! Now, I'm a casualty fan of Jim n Nicks anyway, but this kind of treatment makes me NEVER want to go to them. My brother buys from Jim n Nicks all the time at this location, and HE says they have lost a customer for life. What kind of BBQ restaurant does this on the Fourth, of all holidays? SMH. read more

Baby Back Ribs (4/5): I just really like ribs so I liked these, but they weren't anything special. Maybe a step up from Chili's. Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage (4/5): Good flavor but very dry and not juicy at all. Maybe a little too salty as well. Collard Greens (4/5): Pretty solid. Meat bits were mostly the bad parts though so that was a little unappetizing. Fries (3/5): Not crispy enough. Mac n Cheese (3/5): Flavor was there but the texture was very mushy. We were traveling in the Charlotte area and someone told us "you have to go to Jim N Nick's Bar-B-Q". So we did.... Now just my opinion! What I ordered I didn't like. My wife ordered the same thing and she loved it as well as four other people in our group said the same thing. The difference between mine and their's were mine came out lukewarm and everyone else's came out hot. I ordered the OUR FAMOUS BRISKET CHILI - Homemade chili made with our smoked brisket. I just didn't care for the flavor.... One of the guys in our group ordered the chicken and he went nuts over it! He said "this is the best chicken he has ever had" which is saying a lot because this guy cooks, smokes and grills a lot of chicken and for him to say that was the best chicken he has ever had is saying a lot. I personally didn't try the chicken but several other people in our group said the same thing. Definitely recommend this restaurant! Everyone was very nice! It is really unfortunate that this brand cannot keep consistency among stores. I have been to some that were really good and some that were just OK. This one was really bad. I had the rib, sausage and turkey platter. It came with 2 sides, I had beans and fries. The ribs were tough and undercooked. They were cut huge so that probably caused that. The turkey was OK but the sausage was cooked to the point that it was dry and hard. I really did not enjoy this meal. This experience probably pushed me over the edge to not eat at Jim N Nicks again. read more

My family and I visited here when they came into town and it was just okay to me. The ribs were good even though they could use more sauce. I wasn't a fan of the collards however I appreciated our waitress was kind enough to let me swap for another side. The baked beans however were a much better choice if you're visiting in the future. The Mac and cheese was also good. I will say they do give great portion sizes that will be more than filling. It honestly just comes down to side preference. read more

We went on a "BBQ crawl" to a bunch of different joints throughout the area. We used AI to tell us where to go - the best places to go and the best routes to travel - since we are from Chicago and don't know the area. This place was listed as the "don't-miss grand finale" so it was last on the list, and it was by far our favorite place. The meats, sauces, and cheese muffins were all delightful. We were served by a guy named Johnny who couldn't have been nicer. He treated us like guests but also like family - a great way to experience southern hospitality along with delicious cooking. The funny thing is, when we stopped at our first location (some other meh spot that shall remain nameless) - the guy who served us asked about our crawl and wanted to know where we were stopping. We told him - and he tried to talk us out of stopping at Jim n' Nick's!! He gave us the name of another spot that he said was superior. Thank goodness we didn't listen. Thanks, Johnny and team, for the wonderful food and the great service. We bought barbecue sauce to bring home (and some to give away as gifts too). We are big fans and will be back one day. When looking for a place for dinner tried Jim n Nicks BBQ and was not disappointed and which I highly recommend. Greeted warmly at the entrance and immediately seated ( restaurant was not very crowded this evening). Immediately served with a small basket of warm cornbread biscuits while waiting for a server. Our server Melissa again warmly welcomed us, took our drinks order and allowed us additional time to look over the menu. Due to the time of evening chose sandwiches with a trimming. Started with their brisket chili and could have eaten that for a meal. Just the right seasoning with chunks of brisket and vegetables. The BBQ pork and BBQ brisket sandwiches were excellent and just the right portion. I'd recommend the baked beans and Mac n cheese trimmings myself. The The peach ice tea was the best I have had in a while too. I'll definitely revisit when I'm back in this area and try one of the JNN Classic meals. Plenty of seating including a bar area and if you don't have time for a sit down dinner Jim N Nicks offers take out service which was very popular the evening I stopped in. The best thing about Jim 'N Nicks is the tiny little biscuits. I could inhale those little biscuits. I normally order extra each time I go. I've been to this location several times. Customer service is always satisfactory and the food is always tasty. There is normally a wait time most of the time. I love barbecue, and Jim 'N Nick's has a good thing on their hands. We are Jim N Nicks lovers. We were visiting Lake Wylie and excited to get some BBQ. This review is about the service. Our server was not up to par. Maybe they were short staffed. The loaded potato was the star of the meal. The just ok's: The ribs. Super fatty. Not a lot of meat. Chili didn't do it for me either. It may just be a palate thing for me. Walking into the restaurant was a young lady who was the hostess. Her name was Sophia and seated five of us at a table. She was very professional and after we were seated, I noticed that she hustled to go and clean up a couple of tables. The waitress came and rook our orders in no time. She was attentive and did not miss a beat. The food was very good. We ordered pork ribs, salad and loaded potatoes. The sides were also very good. Barbeque is not my favorite type of food, but whoa is this place good! Full disclosure, we only came here because I won a gift card and it was Friday so I didn't want to cook. However, it was totally worth it. We started with the cornbread muffins which were warm, sweet and so tasty. A few were more "golden" then others, but it didn't take anything away from the flavor. We ordered the deviled eggs and they were good as well, yet, I probably wouldn't order them again, ONLY BECAUSE they had a sweet taste to them, which I am not a fan of. Sweeter deviled eggs are just not my preference so I don't hold that against them at all. However, the eggs themselves were cooked perfectly and none of the filling was dry so that's a win. My son ordered the Wings and also the Loaded Mac & Cheese. I tried the mac n cheese and it was really good. You could tell it was made with real cheese, it wasn't dry, and the pork on top went great with it. I think my hubby ordered Mr. Jim's Combo Plate and liked it, but he didn't eat any of the fruit on the side because the strawberries and blueberries (which were at the top of the cup) were super mushy. I had the beef brisket sandwich (chopped on request) and it was amazing! Growing up I hated brisket because it was always dry, but I decided to give it another try and I'm so happy I did. It was flavorful, juicy and the bun held it all together perfectly. There's nothing worse than having a "sloppy" sandwich and it all falls apart. The potato salad was homemade and tasted great and you know I had to get an order of fries to try with the rest and they were good too. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. To-go order: 6 count smoked wings with a side of carrots and celery They seem pretty popular because the parking lot was packed when I came to pick up my to-go order. The guy running the to-go counter was a bit slow. The bar area had quite a few people sitting around waiting for their order and a few in line. When it was my turn, I paid for my order and requested a water to-go then stepped aside to wait for my food. A few minutes later, he brings me my food but no water, tells me he's gunna run right back to grab it. Okay, they're busy maybe he forgot. He proceeded to check out two more people in line then made two trips back to the kitchen to grab two more orders and still no water. I didn't even say anything to him and just left. My husband and I always grab carryout from Jim N' Nick's Steel Creek after Sunday Panther's games. Even though the Panthers haven't been on a home-game roll lately, this meal is always a win! We live in Clover, SC -- about a 20-minute drive home -- and it's always tempting to eat the cheese muffins before we even make it there. Nyla is so friendly and makes the ordering process a breeze, and the manager Daniel always makes sure you're completely taken care of. No one does pulled smoked chicken better than Jim N' Nick's! We usually get the two-meat meal with baked beans, mac & cheese, and coleslaw -- everything is consistently delicious. If you've got a bit of a drive like we do, let them know -- they'll wrap everything up perfectly so it stays hot and fresh. The service is top-notch, and the food never disappoints.
