Quaint local establishment, I ordered the BLT sandwich while there and ribs dinner to go for later. The BLT was ok, wasn't a wow factor. Had the ribs later for dinner, again just ok, I wasn't overwhelmed. However the Mac and cheese was absolutely spot on, I could eat w whole pan of that. I would still go back and try other items and service was great while there.

Pulled pork, potato salad, hush puppies (also fantastic) and the collards and black eyed peas peas (which he really loved).

Wow what a find. We stopped in Rock Hill as we always do on our way down to Florida. My husband is from NC and has his favorite place down there that he rates everyone else to. Now in NJ married to a Jersey girl the hunt is hard to find. So finding this place was very special. He LOVED the pulled pork. We had the pork sundae as a starter which was fabulous. A must try! I had the brisket and that too was amazing. Oh and the sweet tea, just like his favorite place at home. We will always stop back in when we drive to Florida each year God willing. Thank you for being delicious.

The Dixie Pig restaurant is located on a main thoroughfare in the heart of Rock Hill. If you didn't know better, you would think that you had pulled into a Texas barbecue joint in the plains of west Texas. The restaurant fittingly sits adjacent to a laundromat. It's both rustic inside and out.. Once inside, you're greeted by a friendly staff and a quaint and clean environment. The menu is typical and includes all of your favorite barbecue offerings and more. We had the chopped pork, the ribs and sides including slaw, black eyed peas w/collards, macaroni, baked beans, and hush puppies. The barbecue was cooked to perfection. You could taste and smell the deep smoke of real wood cooking. The entrees and of the sides were plentiful and tasty. Don't sleep on their macaroni and black eyed peas with collards sides! Yum! The Dixie Pig is easily among the top barbecue joints I've visited in a while. And Addy, our server was awesome! Don't think about it. Just go!

As a Californian-born, now three-decade North Carolina transplant, I've been here long enough to know that in the South there's not much more sacred than the Bible, the breweries, and the BBQ. Around here, barbecue isn't just a food group.. it's a belief system. Some parts of the country enjoy BBQ in a casual sense.. think burgers on the grill, maybe a few ribs on a summer weekend. Here in the Carolinas, it's an identity and It usually means pulled pork, probably vinegar-based, and definitely served with a side of debate about which regional sauce reigns supreme. When I pulled into The Dixie Pig in Rock Hill on my way back from an appointment (stomach growling, highway humming, and pulled pork practically calling my name) I was greeted with the kind of southern hospitality that always feels sincere, not scripted. I had my sights set on brisket.. but no dice, It's a dinner-only affair after 5 p.m. So, I pivoted to the pulled pork platter with house BBQ sauce, macaroni, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. (Insert sarcastic sigh here, another tragic case of "forced to eat pulled pork in Carolina.") Now, I'll probably catch some heat for saying this, but I'm often underwhelmed by pulled pork across the state (even at the famous joints). Too often it's dry, stringy, or bland enough to make me question if we all just like the sauce more than the meat. Not here though, this place was different.. this pork was different. It was juicy, flavorful, tender "meat butter", and yes, I'm coining that term right now. The kind of pork that melts in your mouth rather than needing sauce to survive. You taste smoke, not seasoning. The fat rendered just right with the texture balanced between bark and softness. I don't say this lightly: it's the best pulled pork I've had at any Carolina BBQ spot, period. The sauce hit the sweet-spot balance between tangy and rich, complementing rather than masking the meat. The hushpuppies were golden perfection.. crisp on the outside, soft inside, perfect for soaking up every last drop. The macaroni was... mid at best. It had that buffet-style vibe where the cheese and noodles coexist but don't quite blend (like two strangers making polite small talk at a potluck). The coleslaw? Fine I'm sure, just not my style. It's thin-sliced, light on dressing and probably 10/10 for someone who likes that. My preference? I'm a fan of extra creamy, sweet enough to double as dessert type of cole slaw. Sides aside, the pork makes this place an easy recommendation, not the just a "good if you're nearby" kind of spot, but a "worth-the-drive" destination for anyone chasing real Carolina smoke. The Dixie Pig doesn't feel like it's trying to compete in the Instagram-friendly BBQ wars. It's not flashy and it's not over-branded, it's just honest food done right, slow-cooked, high-skill, low-ego. If you find yourself cruising down I-77 with a craving that only pulled pork can fix, skip the chain exits and take the Rock Hill detour. Order the platter.. get extra hushpuppies.. and thank me later. - for the pork (meat butter hall of fame) - for the hushpuppies - for the sides - for authenticity Overall: 4.5/5 - A Rock Hill staple that's proof Carolina BBQ still has a few secrets worth discovering.

    1/4 dark meat Smoked Chicken

The ambiance is a bbq joint straight out of a movie. They opened the door early for an employee. The door remained open even though they weren't so ppl started filing in including us. Ordered the 1/4 dark meat smoked chicken with the white slaw and fries. Loved the ranch dressing! The white slaw was a little too sweet for me. The fries seem to be from a bag so it's all about the ranch. The smoked chicken was smoked chicken. Solid offering.

Great BBQ in Rock Hill, SC Beat locally owned, hall in the wall BBQ place. We have always ordered TO-Go which we enjoy all the time. But getting it served, fresh from the grill, way even better. Love the blackeye peas with collard greens, grilled corn and of course the BBQ meat from ribs, pulled pork, pork belly, brisket. Try it when you're in the our neck of the woods.

BBQ Pork, BBQ Hash, Mac and cheese, house BBQ sauce
    Rob L.

No frills about this place; just some good ole fashion souther barbecue. Stopped by for lunch while in the area and can't wait to go back. The pulled pork was delicious, especially paired with the house bbq sauce. Mac and cheese was solid, as was the bbq hash. Washed down with a sweet tea (and one to go after the waitress asked if I wanted one). The only downside is that the brisket isn't ready until after 5, but I guess that just means I'll have to head back for dinner sometime soon.

Best BBQ we've had in a long time!! We found it online while traveling from HHI, and I'm so glad we stopped. The smoked chicken and pulled pork sandwiches were amazing!!! All the sauces we tried were great too, along with the side dishes! We love supporting small business like this!!! I know, first hand, just how hard it is being in the restaurant industry, so I commend you and the team!!! Well done!!!

Went in for lunch plate, got the pulled pork and two side and the mac and cheese was horrible but then that it was good.

Smoked bratwurst, hash, black-eyed peas with collards.
    Mike M.

Honestly, the only parts of this meal that wasn't outstanding were the hush puppies. Everything else I ate -- the smoked bratwurst, the mustard-based gold sauce, the flavorful hash, and the mixture of black-eyed peas and collard greens -- was stellar. That hash in particular was delicious. The Dixie Pig is certainly not a large establishment, and it might be easy to miss without a little GPS guidance. The primary dining area holds little more than a few bar stools, a pair of high-top tables, and about four four-seater tables. There's also a secondary dining area that's much larger, connected to the main establishment by a door near the bar counter. The staff here is down to earth, welcoming, and on top of their game. What was wrong with the hush puppies? They were certainly edible, but unlike everything else on the plate they were decidedly plain and flavorless. A little chopped jalapeno, a bit of sugar, or damn near anything else could liven them up. And that's seriously the only complaint I have. 4.5 stars, though I'd like to come back and try a few other dishes to see if everything else measures up.

Pulled pork sandwich w/ mac and their house sauce. Highly recommend!!

I have been wanting to try this place for several months and luckily happened to be in RH around lunch. The food- I got the Capital Dog and the Fiesta dog. Capital dog is pictured below with the pretzel bun. Fiesta dog is resplendent with corn. Both were delicious. You have to start with the Capital dog. The quality of ingredients was fresh and top quality. The dog had perfect texture, flavor and was well cooked. The Fiesta dog was like a party for the tastebuds. The mixture of sweetness from the corn, savory cheese sauce and onions were punctuated by sharp little bites of heat from sauce or maybe peppers? The Place- looked very professional. Imagine a Dean and DeLuca that specialized in unique sodas, chips and other sundries. There were many items in there that I am confident can not be found anywhere else in NC or SC. I saw some HERR's baby back rib chips that hope to get back to visit. I forgot to get a milkshake but hear they are delicious. I also was dog focused, but the pizza looked good. Parking is available in about 5-6 spaces up front and I think this is more of a carry out place. I spoke to the owner - was very impressed. He is focused on excellence and it shows. He has been awarded a Heinz 'Black Kitchen Initiative' award. The place looked clean and he made me feel welcome! I hope you get to enjoy Surefire, I am definitely headed back to get my Milkshake and Pizza!

Ashley was our server and she was amazing -- very attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. She really made the experience even better. We started with the pork belly skewers topped with ranch, BBQ, crushed cashews, and pickled red onions -- 10/10. Huge portion and packed with flavor. The balance of sweet, tangy, and crunchy was perfect. The chicken Caesar sandwich was sooo good. It's a massive sandwich with a crispy chicken cutlet topped with Caesar salad, pickled red onions, and chickpeas. Fair warning: it's a little hard to eat because of the size, but completely worth it. The dressing leans more vinegar-forward than creamy, which I personally loved. I'd honestly order it again just as a salad. The truffle parm fries were another 10/10 -- loaded with parmesan and full of flavor. The stout braised beef melt was amazing. Tons of meat and the flavors blended together perfectly. Definitely a standout. The pub chips with added Cajun seasoning were okay -- not bad, just nothing super special compared to everything else. As longtime fans of their previous food truck, we're so impressed with what they've grown into as a restaurant. It's clear they've kept the quality while elevating the whole experience. We'll absolutely be back!

Unfortunately, I left feeling very disappointed. I ordered the cheesesteak, which was the main reason for my visit, and it just didn't live up to the hype. The bread was soggy, the meat was very small diced instead of the ribeye-style cuts you'd expect from a good cheesesteak, and the cheese tasted more like Kraft than anything premium. Overall, it was very bland and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. For $18 and about a 20-minute drive, I honestly expected much more. On the positive side, the Brussels sprouts were amazing -- easily the standout item from my visit. They were flavorful and cooked really well. The fries were fine too, but fries are fries and it's hard to mess those up. The staff were very nice and attentive, and the food came out in about 10-15 minutes, which I appreciated. The restaurant itself is a small, quaint place located in downtown Rock Hill across from the public library. I didn't have trouble parking, but it was around 12:30 on a Wednesday and the lot and nearby street parking were both pretty full, so I could see it being tighter during busier times. I also noticed this location used to be called Sweet Tea back around 2020 when they served chicken and waffles, so it was interesting to see how the space has changed. The menu overall isn't very large, and since I mainly came for the cheesesteak and it didn't meet my expectations, I don't see myself returning. In my personal opinion, Cheat's Cheesesteak Parlor still has the best cheesesteak in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. I really wanted to love this place, but based on this visit, it just didn't deliver for me.
