Gin & Tonic in front of the Fireplace in my room.

I came here for my birthday and was very surprised that it felt like you were staying in a different country. When you arrive, I don't know if it is customary, but we were shown around the property. I was a bit concerned by my room was right next to the concierge desk but once I was in the room it felt like I was in my own little world. We decided to get the garden suite which has its very own private garden. I would take it over the ocean view any day of the week! The door to the hotel room opens to a lush, shaded garden with a fireplace and an outdoor heater. From there, there are two massive glass sliding doors that welcome you into your Japanese oasis. The room had a wonderfully comfortable bed. Our mini bar was stocked with things we would drink. The bathroom is set up as a Japanese wet bath which means that the water from the shower could get all over the floor and it is no big deal (there is a glass partition that keeps the sink area dry). There was a opened shower with a showerhead that could be used in the huge bamboo soaking tub. They provided bath salts, shampoo, and conditioner. There is also a fancy bidet toilet. Your butt will never feel better on that warmed up seat. I gave my toilet a name because every time you enter the bathroom he was eager to get your on his seat. The bidet was very easy to control. The blinds and shades are controlled by an iPad next to your bed. The iPad also controls the TV as well as getting in touch with staff if you need to request something. Oh, and it also is used for the temperature in the room (they have a Nest). The staff was exceptional and made me feel super special. Austin worked with us to get us cupcakes (they were amazing and I never got the persons name who made them!) He also was there whenever we needed him for something. We were able to make reservations next door at Nobu for the night and walked over. We came back to a fire lit in our garden area, the cupcakes, and other surprises. We also were told that they would be more than happy to drop us off or pick us up if we needed to go somewhere. We had a reservation at Geoffrey's which was a little ways away. Austin took the hotel Range Rover and dropped us off and also picked us up. It was nice being able to not have to rely on Uber or Lyft (or even our own car). We did get room service one morning and it was absolutely delicious. I got the French Toast and it was a reasonable portion. My companion got a Japanese breakfast, that included delicious fish and miso soup. He said it was delicious too. Everything was pretty much provided here. There are two entrances to the beach, one with a shower for your feet or body. I would head down to the beach to sit and people watch. They provide beach towels and sunscreen. At night, I would hang out at the relaxation deck and read a book. There was a pool (that was closed, thanks to COVID) and also a fitness center (didn't use it but you put your name down and get to work out alone). Everyone was really nice and it felt like we were the only people in the hotel (I think we saw one or two other people honestly). It was a great experience and felt like a little slice away from the hustle and bustle of Malibu. Once you were outside, you felt like you were back but the pier was close for food and drinks, so it made up for the road being so busy. The only thing I will say that I wish they had (because I was looking forward to it so much) was movies! Something I could rent (not adult movies) but they did have HBO, Showtime, etc. and was able to find something. It would be cool to have a SmartTV.

Beautiful Beach front hotel in a great location. Fabulous view, every one was very nice and helpful.

I had a superlative lunch in a beautiful setting here with 3 other adults. It was perhaps the best lunch I've had in decades and certainly the most expensive (more than $400). The restaurant is modern and beautiful, as is the setting, right on the beach. The food was outstanding, as was the service. Sitting on their patio overlooking the water and the views of the coast was very enjoyable. As at other Nobu's, the miso-glazed black cod was superb. Their sashimi and sushi were perfect.

The room, the grounds and the service is all 5 star. Everything was great and would come back. Yet It's a new property so they do have a lot of small areas that can be improved upon. It was an anniversary trip and most hotels would delivery a small surprise like chocolate strawberries ect. Yet it was only mentioned briefly at check in. The welcome amenity was a nice fruit plate & tea. *The next day I ordered a fruit plate from room service and it wasn't anything special.* The welcome amenity fruitplate was better then the $18 fruit plate I ordered. Make a wonderful fruit plate each time. Make it look like or better then the first fruit plate. *The mini bar snacks, were nothing special and the full sized items are nice in concept . Having full sized chocolate bars & they were not restocked every time. We were staying there only two nights. If it's to expensive for the hotel to keep the items stocked. Take out the full sized items! People want to take a bite of a special chocolate and enjoy it be done and decide to enjoy another. Not to open up a full size chocolate bar and have it laying around wrap it up and eat more of it later. It was actually very unfortunate because I really enjoy chocolate. The selection wasn't good. *I suggest getting smaller and specialty items that fit the theme of the environment and are easier to restock. I ended up taking all of the chocolate bars and giving them to a group of kids on the beach. We liked the types of mixed nuts and that was the best item in the mini bar. I would recommend delivering a smaller bowl of fresh fruit once a day rather than the mini bar snacks. Have unique refined items that people can enjoy eating...That incorporate miso, sesame, ginger, green tea ect or things from that come from the LA area. Instead it was Dean and Deluca, some people might like the brand but it's not a product line I would choose. Bake Green Tea Cookies! The beverages were nice in the room and stocked nicely. The service and staff was truly great and made the stay memorable and succeeded! I didn't enjoy the reservation process. If you have questions it's lot of back and forth and not answering the entirety of the question. I had to spend more time getting answers. I even said I'm sorry for bothering her to answer these questions & she didn't deny, my bothering her. They are a little over confident in their hotel product. She referenced surprises that had to be a surprise! To avoid giving info. Little information in the iPad on the menu Items. I highly recommend the fallowing items. The Nobu French Toast, excellent/satisfying, The Popovers filled me up nicely the butter tasty. The Salmon Skin roll, was more flavorful then the house roll, the crab roll and so on. Get The Salon skin roll. We enjoyed the in-room dining far more then at the Nobu restaurant, see my review on that place. We ate the Nobu restaurant for each meal and it really effected the experience of the trip. The hotel made up for the short comings of the actual Nobu restaurant. When places under deliver, people stop "trusting" what the restaurant is going to deliver. Always ask what an item cost because you'll find out a fruit plate for desert at Nobu, is not listed on the menu and is price $4 higher then every desert on the menu... these deserts have ice-cream, baked goods and some of them include a little fruit but the standard fruit plate isn't the same price as these listed deserts ...IT'S MORE and no one informs you. Suggest getting a on menu desert. Luckily the hotel generously offered make me another and that took the sting out of being disappointed by the restaurant over and over mostly by the customer service. . The Nobu Ryokan really was great and the breakfast I had truly was wonderful. I would have ordered more. *All I can say is over deliverer and people will order more and more because they can "trust" they'll enjoy it. Deliver less and maybe in the short term you'll make quick profit but in the long term you'll loose the "trust of the customer" and they may become less likely to order or less likely to experiment with the items of the order. *Also I was asking Janelle about Nobu's Ice cream sandwich she was telling me the another style desert was the Ice cream cookie sandwich item & seemed certain that it was. Luckily I checked myself and we found out it's at dinner only. I can tell Janelle was a manager because she wasn't as " friendly" as others! Finally at check out...The room service wasn't itemized and was messy and disorganized to review for accuracy. Fix these problems, information should be clear and easy to access. Refining information doesn't mean to not include it. Making information simple is answering the top 5 questions people ask before they have to ask. Excellent overall two night visit probably 80/100 overall. The nice room& great service made up for details that were lacking Happy to help contact for specific questions!

When we first arrived I went to the wrong entrance lady came out to help me she showed me the correct entrance as soon as we walked in , there were two ladies there with warm towels to wipe our hands already I felt less stressed , we were so stressed because we had just lost our CUDDLES she was 14 years , depressed about it . Our asst. Jackie were able to get us 1 night we were so happy because it's a Easter weekend we lucked out . My husband and I had the best 1 night , felt very rested, food amazing, service fantastic, received a lot of attention, we got so spoiled with the service we didn't want to leave . Room service, I didn't have to get out of the bed to open the door , they would just bring everything in , loved it . There is a safe in the room & a snack , water, beer , sodas in drawers . Oh ... usb installed next to the bed, just bring your cell phone charger , first time at a hotel next to your bed when you open the drawer you will find ear plugs & night light if you want to read your book . OMG ... almost forgot to tell you about the heated toilet seat , when you walk into the bath room the toilet top automatic lifts up . They have coffee machine & espresso machine my husband loved the espresso . This will be our second home away from home .

Our naturally lit, cozy room was beautifully appointed; even the robes were deliciously soft. Our first night, we ordered 3 entrees and each voted for different favorites (always a good sign). The ambiance was fantastic, the cocktails were excellent, and the food was truly outstanding. Our experience at dinner prompted our decision to stay in for breakfast and for lunch the following day - and every single dish was stunning. In fact, we even returned, post check-out, for a repeat of the veggie bowl with chicken (a must). The VIEW: imagine twinkling sunshine, a lineup of surfers catching perfect waves, the Malibu pier...all while sipping their signature drink - The Endless Summer. Simply put, heaven. Their tiny gift shop has such a great selection of candles (our favorite), clothing, prints, and essential oils. Sunscreen too, if needed. We went home with 5 candles, 2 sweatshirts and the most adorable print. The complimentary morning coffee and electric car charging were unexpected, delightful touches. After checking out, we were informed of a forgotten item via chat - they even offered to ship it to us, if we weren't able to return in-person. We couldn't have been more excited for an excuse to return. As lovers of boutique hotels and beautiful experiences, this stay exceeded even our highest expectations. The building is three stories, I believe and each room has balcony access. I got an oceanfront room. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning! The best part of my stay was the breakfast room service where I got an omelette, potatoes, steel cut oatmeal and fruit juices. I ate outside to the stunning ocean views and crisp sunny beach weather. Each room is very cozy and has an electric fireplace. Since I went at the end of April, I definitely used the fireplace at night. I ordered a large baked chocolate chip cookie à la mode in the evening before bed and ate it in front of the cozy fireplace. Another impressive feature was the heated Toto toilet in the restroom. I'm normally grossed out by hotel toilets but this fancy toilet made the toilet inviting and attractive. The toilet was sensor flush and you could use it as a bidet too I think, though I didn't use it that way. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had many settings that made it feel like a spa shower where the jets were able to hit different parts of your body like a jacuzzi massage feature. The reason I'm giving four stars is for the cleanliness of the restroom. The room was nearly $1000 a night so I expected the whole room, including the restroom to be spotless. However, there was some leftover hair in the sink and shower from the previous occupant. That really grossed me out and affected my general impression of the place. Hopefully they will improve their house keeping maintenance so I can change my rating to five stars. Overall, it was a great staycation however.

This hotel charges anywhere from 600 to over $1000 a night so it is not in a class of Hotel where you expect them to skimp on the food. However, the bakery goods they serve are brought in from somewhere else, not prepared on site, and refrigerated so when you have a chocolate croissant, you have the choice of having them bake it, which turns into melted chocolate or not warmed, which makes it taste like rubber. While this is somewhat of a petty complaint there are just certain things you expect of hotels that cater to people who can pay anywhere from 600 to a couple thousand dollars a night and you expect that certain things are in line with that degree of expense. However, in this case, not only the croissants, but the food and menu is somewhat marginal and clearly they are in need of someone new overseeing the kitchen Also, when I did ask for the manager, someone introduced himself as a person who was on duty not necessarily the manager in the response I got is something that I really dislike. The response is that we've been doing this for years. Having refrigerated bakery goods is not something they should be doing for years at this type of restaurant. This is one thing that really needs to be changed if I want refrigerated, croissants, or pastries I I can go to Ralph's or Vons or a grocery store. Frankly, even a donut shop has better bakery goods than this hotel.

Deeply Disappointing Experience After Reopening…read more My husband and I were excited to finally try the newly reopened restaurant at Campos Ranch, especially after it being members-only for several years. Unfortunately, booking a table here turned out to be a regrettable decision. Shortly after we were seated, a table of approximately ten children--ranging from toddlers to early elementary age--was placed nearby with no adult supervision at the table. Their parents were seated separately and appeared completely disengaged from what was happening. The result was nonstop chaos: children jumping on chairs, rolling on the floor, fighting at the table, and shouting throughout the dining room. At no point did any parent intervene. To be clear, this is not about children being present. It's about adults failing to manage their children in a shared public space--and, more importantly, about restaurant management allowing this behavior to continue unchecked. It showed a profound lack of consideration for the other guests who, like us, paid full price for what is supposed to be a quality dining experience. What made this especially frustrating was the complete absence of intervention from staff or management. Allowing one table to completely disrupt the dining room is disrespectful to every other guest. A restaurant--particularly one positioning itself as an elevated destination--has a responsibility to set and enforce basic standards of conduct. Overall, the evening left us feeling that courtesy, consideration, and basic dining-room etiquette were not priorities here. I strongly encourage management to rethink how situations like this are handled, because no guest should have their experience ruined by unchecked behavior at another table.

When I went to the front desk for assistance, I was told--very loudly and in front of other guests--that I had an outstanding balance. This was both shocking and embarrassing, especially because the hotel was already holding $2,685.00 on my credit card. Despite this, I was required to make an additional payment of $1,400.00, even though I had only stayed four nights at that point. The following day, I was locked out again and told there was still a balance and that the hotel had been attempting to contact me. I later discovered they had been calling the wrong phone number. As a loyal Hilton Honors member who travels frequently and has stayed with Hilton properties many times, I found the way this situation was handled extremely unprofessional and humiliating. I am currently disputing the charges, as the hotel held $2,685.00 and I was later charged an additional $2,700.00, which appeared excessive and was never clearly explained. The property was dated and not well maintained, and we experienced ongoing plumbing problems, including toilets that would not flush due to apparent sewer line issues.
