Growing up in Hudson County and recently having one open by me in Hazlet, this is by far probably the best Noches I have been to yet! The Mar y Mar was on point with the sauce, great portion, and the maduros were perfect. The pan de bono was nice and toasty, cheesy and gooey inside. I had the virgin passion fruit margarita and it wasn't even crazy sweet like most mocktails are. The service was great and sat me right away even while having to wait for the rest of my party, which includes 5 of us. They have tvs in every corner, so no need to fret when wanting to watch a game, every seat is a great seat. Probably come down to this location every time I got to North Bergen, highly recommend! Among so many Noches de Colombia, I usually frequent the very first one in Englewood, and the Fairview one. North Bergen location is the first visit for me. Since it was lunch time, I would not be able to comment on the evening ambience or any other service, but I am quite satisfied !!! The food is ok ...as many of you are already familiar with the menu at Noches. I always believe it's the person that makes it special ....and our server Tatiana was so great. The hall is quite spacious and we were sitting by the window behind the TV wall, so it was quite difficult to get the attention of any servers, but Tatiana was always smiling and kind enough for me to want to come back. It's clean and the staff is mostly attentive (when they don't get distracted talking to friends lol). I have been to different locations and everyone only speaks Spanish. I had to struggle at fist to communicate with the lady. They then found someone that could communicate with me and was able to change my pick up time. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked in and told the lady I was there for pick up. She handed me my food and I left. When I got in I tasted the food and it was pretty good. I ordered the garlic shrimp with potatoes in a tomato sauce. After driving by the usual poison places like Burger King, Dublin, and Chick-fil-A, I bumbled into this sit down place. I was seated next to three NY Giants, so I thought this place must be pretty good because they can eat anywhere, and yet here they are. My food arrived at my table. First taste was incredible. I visited this place last summer (2021), and I had forgotten all about it until tonight when my sister in law mentioned it. Lucky.you, right? Let's break it down: Appearance: The restaurant is pretty nice. It feels like a place where you can go for just about any occasion. It was clean, organized, and had overall a good energy about it. Staff: They were nice. I don't recall anything extraordinary one way or another. The waitstaff look like they have to put up with a lot. With what? I don't know. They have these stern looks and just like frustrated. For real. You have to see it. In any case, have a heart and tip them well. They're working hard. Food: Well here's where everything took a turn. We had some guacamole as an appetizer, and never in my life have I ever eaten such a flavorless guacamole. You don't even put salt and lime in it? No onion? Why? I ordered the flounder with cream sauce because it looked really good, and I was starving. When the plate arrived, my eyes were on fire because the fish was huge. I started going to town on it. The cream sauce was a white, alfredo looking sauce with the same texture minus the flavor. Imagine a thin piece of paper covered in a bland sauce. That's what it tasted like. I kid you not I thought I had COVID because I thought I lost my sense of taste and smell. I tried the yuca, and it was slightly salted and I mean SLIGHTLY. Someone passed me an empanada, and it was full of flavor which was OK. Look, don't get mad at me. If a restaurant is going to serve empanadas at least offer a variety. Carne con arroz at least instead of papa con papa In amy case the fish didn't have much of flavor and neither did the sauce, but that's not what disappointed me. This filet of fish. WTF? I swear it looked like someone used s roller to flatten the filet, add some kind of weird bland breading, and deep fry it. The fish was as thin as a Kraft single. The breading was just like part of the fish. That explains the blandness. The sauce? I don't know, but at least add some garlic or something. Oh, and this part I don't get. Why don't you serve carbonated beverages from a fountain instead of cans? Do you know how much money you're losing? Instead of buying cans wholesale for $.50/can and having to dedicate tons of inventory space and expensive shipments of cans, get a fountain drink and increase your profit margin significantly. Also it looks better on the restaurant if it's not nickel and diming on refills. Before anyone suggests that hot sauce is available if I need to add flavor. Remember when I wrote that the food tasted like paper dipper in a bland sauce? Imagine the same paper, and the sauce is still missing all the flavor except now it's hot and burns your mouth. In this case making a bland sauce spicy doesn't give it flavor, it just makes a bland taste less desirable. Unfortunately that's the case with some of the food here. The pam de bono was really good, and the empanadas were fine. Will I come back? Probably. The restaurant does have charm, and the menu is huge. Would I recommend it? Mmmm nah. Lime, beans or soup, and salad dressing are combos. I also paid $3.00 extra for Guacamole. They didn't give me. I told the driver and he told me to go to the restaurant. I paid $11.00 for delivery! I called the restaurant and they didn't understand English so my husband spoke to them in Spanish. They not only didn't apologize but also made an excuse that they are not on the menu.
