I didn't know what to expect so I kept an open mind about this tour. We were instructed to meet our guide at Voodoo Tavern and Poboys about 30 minutes before to give us plenty of time for some drinks (to have at the bar and to bring for the tour.) About 15 minutes before departure, our guide Henry walked in and intro'd himself as the man to show us around. He did a quick round and once his check list of guests completed, he brought the bus around and boarded all of us. He mentioned we were making two cemetery stops and a break in between. He's a really entertaining guy and knowledgeable guide. He made sure to point out places of interest during the drive. He gave us plenty of historical facts and made at some recommended eateries as well as famous homes while we drove by them. We learned a lot because of this tour: why some crypts have vents and others don't, the story behind one year and one day before reusing them, the phrase "saved by the bell" (Henry mentioned this phrase supposedly originated from New Orleans), money flexing even in the afterlife, how and why and how there are so many bodies buried in one crypt (hence the many names on the tombstones - one had 500+ dating back from the 1800's), etc. It really was educational and fun at the same time. It's a two hour tour and that's what we got. We were also lucky to be with a fun and interactive group. TIP: The earliest tour during the week starts at 8pm. They start at 5pm on Fridays. ANOTHER TIP: Henry highly HIGHLY recommended taking as many pictures and selfies as you can. Some might reveal surprise photo bombers! (Sadly, we weren't that lucky!) He will also suggest downloading an app (I believe it's called Ghost Hunting Tools - it's blue with a black handprint on it) that supposedly picks up spirits. (I did it just for fun! And it set off another tourist's phone, so that was interesting!) He also recommends walking out of the gate backwards to ward of possible spirits from following you home or wherever you may end up in. (Whether you believe this or not is up to you.) We took the nighttime cemetery tour tonight. It was very disappointing. The first stop was walking around a bit to the cemetery, a bit of burial history and that was it. I honestly expected much more history on the cemetery itself, families buried there, maybe a mention of someone famous? The second cemetery was only mausoleums built in the 20th century. We were dropped off for 25 minutes to wander around on our own inside buildings. Most of us were back after 15 minutes. With all the cemeteries in NOLA, I'm curious why this one was chosen to tour. Well organized ghost tour and a fun way to see the spooky side of Nola. I made a reservation online through Viator. They charged me about three days before our scheduled tour. The ghost tour was $90 for two adults. I was also asked to confirm our tour group the morning of our tour. We met outside the voodoo and po boy restaurant on Decatur. There was a large group congregating so and good signage so we knew we were in the right spot. We arrived about 30 minutes early but we didn't need to. They didn't start checking folks in until ten minutes before our tour time. Someone checks you in on their phone. No need to show your tickets. He told us which bus we were assigned. Our tour guide, Henry, started gathering our bus and we hopped on. Henry drove us to the charity memorial hospital cemetery and then the free mason cemetery on our tour. On the way, he provided us a little history and what to expect to see at each cemetery. He also gave instructions to download a ghost detecting app to add more spooky to your experience. The charity memorial hospital cemetery also included the hurricane katrina memorial, a final resting place for hundreds of unidentifiable remains. The cemetery is also a burial ground for orphaned children who were caught in a fire. It's the place to try and take ghost photos if you believe in that. You take a bio break at a cafe that serves beignets, drinks and other comfort food favorites like gumbo, jambalaya and beignets of course. Cash only but there are atms available. The free mason cemetery was my favorite of the two. We walked through family plots and learned about the burial process. Overall, a good history lesson and a chance to get out of the hustle and bustle of the busy French quarter. Henry was knowledgeable and friendly. Our tour group was probably the worst part of the experience. It's a byob tour so people can be obnoxious buzzed. I probably would have been better off on a day tour to avoid the drunken shenanigans but it is New Orleans after all. read more

Dre....i think his name was Dre or maybe Tre. Well, no matter, our tour guide was funny, informative, and had a great overall personality for the tour through the 2 cemeteries. Although, he was great, no doubt about that, it wasn't as scary as I would've liked it. I would rate it as a PG 13 In scariness. I was hoping more for tantalizing tales of scorned women and debauchery. They had a mid cemetery break to get drinks and beignets......that was nice and refreshing. We used a Groupon for the byob tour. Our bus driver tour guide was Kendall. From time of pick up it was so lively and fun. He told us history, personal stories, sighting opportunities. After reviewing our photos we saw real ghost in our frames. Many on our tour downloaded the emf reader on our phone and for many got different weird messages like pain, Come in, muddy. We were offered to use the divining rods. The rods helped us talk to the dead. It was all creepy. Totally worth the tour. Hope ya all get Kendall he is a great story teller and engages you quickly. Purchased the Cemetery tour. Showed up at 7:30 pm as instructed. The tour buses showed up about 15 minutes late and you are then grouped into 3 colors to go in each bus. So the "tour" started at 8:00 pm, it's now 9:24 pm 1 hour and 24 minutes in and have yet to see a cemetery. Currently sitting at Morning Call which is cash only. Before this spent 30 minutes sitting at a tree at city park. Yeah, don't do it. Complete waste of time. Would give zero stars if I could. read more

I booked a 11pm tour with the ghost riders company online. The street we went down was closed due to construction. In that part of the area a lot of the places were closing or closed so there was not a lot of people around but there were a bunch of homeless people and it was really dark. Once we got to the building it was locked up and closed we got there 30 mins early like it says so the resturant shouldve been open. We ended up having to walk back through the sketchy areas to go all the way back to were we parked. And i am not against walking around nola at night but in a place thats more populated and lively. I did not feel safe at all! and im upset we were put in that situation. Im including a screenshot from google earth of what the building looked like when we got there. It was LOCKED up not one light. I called and canceled our reservation, and they refunded our money. I am not sure if because of the construction over there businesses closed early or what but Ghost Riders should really figure out another place to meet for night while its going on theres lots of corners and places where the homeless are staying there right now at night, and its not safe! read more

This is very educational, they explain the history of the city, burial process, cemetery history and fill you in on all the lore. We had a group of 26 and Trish made sure we all made it back safely with no spirits attached. She was even kind enough to drop us off at our hotel so we didn't have to navigate the French Quarter on a busy night. The tour stops at Morning Call for a bathroom break and treats if you need them. Kendall was great. He was knowledgeable and informative. Since he was a local, he shared his personal experiences of Katrina. And he was great at trying to drop us off as closest to our destinations as possible. The tip about using the ghost detecting app was great at enhancing the experience. It was strange to see words flash on the app and hear strange beeps. The first stop (Masonic Cemetery) was really informative as he gave us a breakdown of the burial rituals and cultural practices of NOLA. The history of the Masons was interesting as well. He shared a moving picture of a quick figure that passed in front of the camera. It was creepy as we all gathered on the cemetery grounds. The pit stop at Morning Call was nice for light snackings and a bathroom break. The beignets were really soft and great tasting. Don't forget to bring the green currency as cash is only accepted. The second stop was at Charity Hospital Cemetary. We were warned that since it was a potter's grave site, there were lots of unmarked graves with a good possibility that you could be stepping on top of someone. He also pointed out spots where strange sightings occurred. The demonstration with the brass (?) rods was interesting. It was neat that these devices could be used to communicate with the other side. The tour was great: informative and interesting. It provided a good history lesson around NOLA's burial practices and the history of the area. I would highly recommend! read more

Even though I have a second home in NOLA it's fun to do something touristy every now and then. Tours are a great way to learn something new about my favorite city. The NOLA Ghost Rider tour is a nighttime cemetery tour, and it was B.Y.O.B. We arrived at our designated meeting spot in the Quarter. Everything was well organized and we were seated on the bus and on our way without delay. Our first stop was at Masonic #1 Cemetery. Before departing the bus, our tour guide told us about an app that we could download that would measure paranormal activity. Spirits seem to find me anyway, so I didn't download the app but several people in our group did. Our guide was great. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name, but he was energetic and funny. He shared so much interesting information including the unique burial rituals and how the tombs must be sealed a year and a day before another family member can be added. (Another interesting fact: Ruth Chris was so rich when she passed that she forbade anyone from being put in her tomb with her.) I was impressed with how well kept this cemetery was. I had visited a few of the older ones in the past and they were not as well maintained. On our way to the next location, we stopped at Morning Call for a restroom break and beignets. Our second destination was Hurricane Katrina Memorial Park. The memorial is dedicated to all the victims and evacuees of Hurricane Katrina. Five crypts were arranged to represent the outer spiral of the storm. The tombs contain the bodies of flood victims who were never identified. Their DNA has been recorded in case one day their families come to claim them. It's a very thoughtfully designed resting place and a beautiful tribute. I'm really glad we stopped here. The memories of Katrina's devastation are painful, and this was an emotional experience for me. Overall, it was an enjoyable and informative tour. Everything ran smoothly from beginning to end. Cemetery Tour..Ghosts Not So Sure Our Group decided to take the 11p tour so we could enjoy the full frightful experience of experience of exploring cemeteries and ghost hunting! Our tour began at Masonic #1 Cemetery! We learned about the burial rituals of the residents of New Orleans! It was so interesting about the 'year and the a day' of sealing tombs and not allowing another family member to take up residence if they die before that year and a day timeline! The 2nd Cemetery was the New Orleans Katrina Charity! The monuments to honor the unknown/unclaimed' persons was breathtaking and still brings me sadness when I think of the devastation of that storm! We did some ghost hunting and talked with some spirits (maybe)? We had a good group to do BYOB on this tour with because the laughs and conversations were great and made the time go by very fast! Overall, it was a nice activity...did we discover ghosts (not so sure..lol) but it was fun trying! read more

We have been on many NOLA tours over the last 15 years and the walking haunted history tour was the best. I'm not sure of our guides' name (gentleman around 52, shaved bald with glasses). He said he was from the area and had lots of personal connections to the city which made it entertaining. We had a much needed stop at LaFitte's Blacksmith Bar. The people he spoke about with such great detail. An amazing storyteller. He was funny, serious and sincere at all the right moments. Would definitely come back with friends and family. read more

Here on board with the hubby for the NOLA Ghost ride tour. They have an 8pm and 11pm and we selected the 8pm because 11pm would probably scare me to no end. Lol! Bob was our tour guide and Kendal was our driver. They were both great. The cemeteries stops were informative. We were given the option to download an app that could measure paranoia activity. I wasn't down with that and didn't want to disturb anyone who was resting peacefully so I passed on the downloading of the apps. We did see that many on the tour did download the app and had different feedback. God forbid I summoned the wrong spirit. They do make stops for the restroom, drinks,and beignets. Steven was a great guide; he checked ppl in at the bar, helped round all groups to their busses, and led our group! We had a small mishap (getting locked out of bus), but everyone had access to benches, restrooms, and could get water while things were fixed. Steven was super apologetic and it was obvious he cared a lot. Once we got going he had tons of stories and jokes for the crew; we saw two cemeteries and visited a cafe for a bathroom break. Love love love this tour co! I was here in Dec 2020 and i used them for a daytime tour of St Louis Cemetery #1. This was my 2nd time doing a tour of this cemetary, but as mentioned previously in other reviews, we couldnt go inside due to covid. HOWEVER, that didnt stop this tour from being absolutely 5 stars. Why? The tour guide was a local, very educated, and made it easy to understand and learn while being respectful of governmental rules due to covid. I highly suggest booking this tour. I think his name was Charles. I have also used them for a haunted tour for the night time, that tour was good, but i feel the cemetery tour is 100% better. read more

What a great experience! Yesterday, 11/27/2021, we had the pleasure of riding with Steven on our Nola Ghost Cemetery Tour. We were able to visit two different cemeteries, seeing the oldest tomb in the city in one and the Hurricane Katrina memorial in the other. Steven even gave us machines to help communicate with ghosts. He had a ton of knowledge and jokes along the entire ride which kept it very entertaining, honestly never a dull moment. My cheeks hurt from smiling the entire time. In between the cemeteries we were able to stop at Morning Call for some drinks and beignets. These beignets are amazing and are more delicious than any others we have had here! Melt in your mouth delicious! Thanks Steven for the great time! My husband is convinced he felt a ghost grab his arm and I had a lot of activity on the EMF app. Kendall was a great tour guide. Hearing his personal Katrina stories were very impactful. I booked the bus tour of the cemeteries and Brandon, our tour guide, was very informative. We boarded the mini bus and took a drive around the city where we were told of the city's history. We then drove past some cemeteries and stopped at St. Louis #3 where we got off of the bus and stood outside the wrought iron fence while Brandon told us more history about the cemeteries and how they were "buried." We then drove to the Charity Hospital Cemetary where we were given dowsing rods and an EMF reader and set free into the grassy field where there were unmarked grave sites. We did get some readings and I took a pic near the suicide tree that looks like something hanging from the tree.....pretty interesting! read more

We started 20 minutes late on our 11 pm tour, then the driver took us to a cafe where we sat for 20+ minutes under the pretense of allowing people to use the bathroom, but actually had all the signs of having a deal with the cafe - a bus full of tourists bored under florescent lights so buying drinks and beignets. The tour was supposed to include 3 cemeteries, but we were only taken to one tiny, insanely brightly lit one and then to the stark small Katrina unclaimed bodies memorial. That was it. It was then 1:15am and aside from a little bit about how the graves were able to hold so many people, our very young guide just went on and on repeatedly telling us how he was spiritually sensitive, empathetic, etc, how he'd seen his first ghost as a child, that as an adult he'd seen a little boy ghost by that tree (he went to point out just where) and a little girl at another tree (again pointing it out). Some people stopped bothering to get off the bus. Others in my group wanted to take an Uber back. It was *bad*. He seemed like a sweet guy, but we all felt scammed and bitter to have our time hijacked in this manner. We were frustrated at having given our last night to this. When were finally freed and getting off the bus gritting our teeth, the dude was yelling "You're welcome" in an intense way. Maybe he expected to be tipped? Was he really clueless about how angry everyone was? The worst. Next time I'm in Nola and want to see a cemetery, I'll know better than to sign up for that tourist trap. Multiple busses at each small location, nothing mysterious or intimate about it. read more

We did the nightly cemetery bus tour and it was fantastic! Our tour guide, Steven, was funny, informative and entertaining. The tour was half air-conditioned coach and half walking. We actually learned a lot about the city and I wished we did it earlier in our trip, instead of on the last night. From what I understand, this is the only night tour through the cemeteries. The tour started with a ride through the city. Steven pointed out several landmarks and gave us some insight on the city's storied history. We then visited St. Louis #3 cemetery. We were not allowed in the cemetery but we stood outside the gates and looked around as Steven told us some ghostly stories. From there, we went to a small bar for a quick bathroom and beverage break. The bar was super casual and the drinks were decently priced. We didn't have time for food but easily got a couple of drinks in. Beverages were allowed on the coach. After that, we went to the Charity Hospital Cemetery to see the Hurricane Katrina memorial. We were then given divining (?) rods and EMF readers to wander off on our own to hunt and talk to the spirits. I "found" some spirits but unfortunately, none of them wanted to talk to me. The tour ended with a ride back to the center of town. Overall, the tour lasted about 2.5 hours and it was totally worth it. It was a good mix of both fun history and supernatural story-telling. I would recommend it to everyone. Disclaimer: I was slightly intoxicated during this tour and I might have mixed up the itinerary a bit. First, take note you do not meet at a storefront. You meet in a slightly desolate area off Conti. There are no washrooms around the buses. Having taken other tours this one was the lightest on visiting various locations. We only went to one cemetery way out of town and to the Katrina memorial. Our tour guide made a point to tell the passengers on the bus several times that she was moving out of New Orleans soon which we felt was odd. The bus was air conditioned adequately and we luckily didn't have anyone who was too obnoxious. This was a BYOB bus and the tour guide was drinking as well. read more

I bought this tour for our last day in New Orleans. First, it's a walking tour so bring comfortable shoes, the tour is 2 hours. Second, it's HOT in the cemetery - hair up, loose clothes, bring water. But that aside, Trish was just wonderful! Super friendly, knowledgeable and told stories with great energy. We got to see Nicholas Cage's ridiculous pyramid tomb, and the most exciting Marie Laveau - Voodoo Queen, very interesting to learning the origins of the cemetery and how people are buried in NOLA, we'll worth the money!
