We were scheduled to take a tour today. My husband has mobility issues so it is not easy for him to get around and we thought this would be a great way for him to see New Orleans. So we trekked into the City and we were literally walking to the place where we were to be picked up when we got a call that they had canceled the tour. Less than 1 hour before it started. No real explanation. My guess is they didn't have enough people and so they just canceled it. This is no way to do business. read more

I would not recommend this tour. Honestly this is not who I wanted to tour with but the hotel I stayed at "highly recommend " Southern Style Tours after my original scheduled tour cancelled on me twice because they didn't have enough people. August is not considered tourist season in NO. Our driver Bob was very kind, however he is a story teller and telling a story outside in almost 100 degree weather at a cemetery for almost 30 minutes is unacceptable. On top of that he closed the bus while giving his 30 minute tour of the cemetery. An elderly lady literally had to sit on a tombstone while someone with her went and get water at the gas station up the street. Me personally, I stood under a tree talking to a nice lady that sells homemade pralines outside the cemetery. I watched two tour busses come and go within 10 minutes. To make matters worse the check engine light was on and the AC wasn't working properly, nor was his microphone. The whole tour was a hot mess. I've been on a different tours here in New Orleans so I had something to compare it to, this was a strong no for me. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Booked a tour with this company. Paid a deposit and arranged for a hotel pickup. I called the Agency to confirm the time and was told my driver would arrive before 2 pm. By 2:15 I called asking for an ETA and was told my driver came to my hotel and left. When I asked why didn't the driver contact me I was told they tried to. When I asked for them to confirm my phone number it was noticed that the last 2 digits of my phone number was incorrectly given to the driver but I provided my correct contact information and its documented on my receipt. I was leaving nola the next day and could not be accommodated for a new booking so asked for a refund since I was not the cause for an error.. this company refused to issue me a refund and continued to offer a re booking. When I explained that I shouldn't be penalized for their mistake and do not have any trips planned back to NOLA they hung up on me. There not even accredited with BBB. There are other tour companies offering the same deals. Take your business and money elsewhere!!! read more

Went on the Louisiana City Tour Things I loved: -Only 3 hours so you don't lose the entire day - picked up from my hotel -air conditioned bus (a must in New Orleans) -knowledgeable tour guide -cemetery stop Things that I guess depend on your preference -Spent most of the time on the bus. Consider doing this at the start of your trip so you know where you'd like to go spend time - Only three opportunities to get out the bus -the driver kept shushing people. We are so glad we decided to take this tour on the historical aspects of New Orleans and surrounding communities! I have visited New Orleans many times..but I had some first timers in my group and it was nice to re-visit this historic information. Debbie our tour guide is a 4th generation Cajun/Creole background and had so much information to share about her town! Debbie took us through the French Quarter; Garden District; Treme; Lakeshore area where the new levy's were built after Hurricane Katrina! We also went by St. Louis Cemetery #1..the weather (sudden downpour NOLA Style) prohibited us from touring the cemetery grounds! The only neighborhood we couldn't tour was the 'Lower 9th' ward because the neighbors have complained about the tour buses! We enjoyed hearing about the areas that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina and how the re-building process has continued 15 afterwards! Debbie had tons of information on present residents (Nicolas Cage; Ann Rice and Brad Pitt) Beyonce owns a house in the Garden District (who knew)? We saw examples of 'shotgun homes' and Mardi Gras themed houses because the parades were cancelled due to COVID! Debbie was great and so were all our new friends made during the tour! If you have never been to New Orleans..this is a way to get a better understanding of the layout of the area and then you can decide where you want to see in your own time! read more

Took the 3 hour city tour with Gary as our guide. He's a multi generational NOLA native. Loved his insight to each area, the homes and sights. Super knowledgeable about hurricane Katrina and really gave me a new understanding and perspective of what happened. He was super engaged with everyone and talked about where we were from. Stopped at the cemetery with 15 min to walk around and gave us another great lesson on how and why the tombs are above ground. Another stop for beignets at Cafe Du Monde and back on the road. He will drop you off at another area on the way back instead of the hotel pick up which was great. The only reasons for less stars is because it's kinda hard to see anything on the right if you're sitting on the left. A lot of the things he pointed out were on the right. It was also really cold on the bus. They had a groupon too which was a great discount. Worth the tour read more

This city tour was even better than I'd anticipated. I wanted something for a half day that didn't require much walking (especially in the off/on again rain) but still gave a good overview. I liked that they picked up directly from your hotel. Booking the tour through Trip Advisor was seamless. It was easy to book and pay online. The tour company sent a confirmation and ticket to my email. They sent a message to confirm the tour the day before; and even called with final directions regarding the pickup. And they came exactly within the predicted time frame. I was pleasantly surprised that even though I've been to New Orleans many times over the years, I saw places I'd never been. The mini-bus had about 20 something people on it. It was comfortable. Not too large a group. We all were able to hear and contribute. Gary K., our tour guide was just excellent. A wealth of knowledge and able to answer all our questions no matter how small. He's a native of New Orleans with parents and grandparents residing here so he was a perfect representative of the city and the company. He even indulged making a nonscheduled stop for a couple of people needing an extra coffee break. We got to see the various sections of the city, learn about the architecture and homes, and parks, and the history of each -- and how each area was affected by Hurricane Katrina. We stopped at Cemetery #3 and heard all the (gory) details about how the tombs and mausoleums function and why. We stopped for a bathroom break and beignets at the branch of Cafe Du Monde within the City Park. I got to see a few of the statues in the sculpture garden, even, before it started raining too hard. At the end of the tour, Gary dropped off people near their requested spots or at their hotel as preferred. I'd highly recommend this for a half day especially if you haven't been to New Orleans in awhile or just to get your bearings -- without it being too strenuous. read more

I did like the hotel pick up and drop off, Herman, our driver and guide, was knowledgeable and, at times, engaging. The small van/bus was old (the cupboard door above the driver was left open and constantly swung backwards and forwards). We had the same experience as Wanda P (review of 5/8) the mask mandate was not enforced and being in such a small, enclosed, crowded vehicle it was definitely cause for concern not to mention a violation of the New Orleans pandemic-related rules (the restriction was only eased May 14th). Other tours we went on were very specific regarding social distancing and the wearing of masks even though they were out doors walking tours. I was surprised and alarmed at the laxness. read more

Horribly disappointed in this service would not recommend- rude obnoxious poor driver. Horrible service to people on bus. Nearly allowed elderly person to fall trying to get on bus with poor driving. Driver used fowl language to us. So very disrespectful!! So bad we took Uber back to New Orleans would not return on that bus with that driver!! Reported to plantation staff- they are not involved in this transportation service, but said they would notify the company and we should expect a call from this company-- 3 days later NO response from this company!! The tour guide is really nice, but gives too much detail about unnecessary things, he talks about things he points to, which 85% of the tour cannot see from where they're sitting, and rolls quickly past interesting things but stops at places where nothing happened. Here's an example of a tour tidbit: "If you went to De LaSalle, we know who you are. They made a lot of movies there." Wait a minute, what does it mean about you if you go there? Which movies were shot there? Then we got to a neighborhood and he spat out Sandra Bullock, Lafayette Cemetery, and the Manning Brothers which all sounded interesting, but he drove past quickly and we couldn't tell what was what. I'd rather see a lot less and get to know more about those things than see hundreds of things and not know which building you're talking about or learn nothing about the place. After we stopped for beignets, he kinda stopped hosting the tour so he could listen to the Jazz hour on the radio for 10 minutes. It was definitely a NOLA thing, but I paid to learn stuff, not to deal with quirky nothingness. He points out lots of places to eat, but I don't know why. Is the food good there? Does something interesting happen there? Is it historical? Do they make a certain type of dish well there? Where in the world are we? And even though it's not his fault, there's nothing like a little coach cough from a fellow passenger to strike terror in one's heart. If you must do this tour, do it with a Groupon, because I might not be complaining as much if I'd paid half price. read more

My friend and I were in New Orleans for the first time. Both of us were interested in learning more about the city and decided to do this 3 hour city tour. I wasn't sure what to expect. But I can say I enjoyed myself and did learn quite a bit. It was great to learn more than Katrina (though there was quite a bit of information on that). I was really surprised at how much our driver and guide, Rick, knew. I thought he was funny and entertaining and provided a lot of great info. There are 2 stops. A cemetery which I found pretty interesting. Some people complained about it...but I'm not sure why because you don't have to get out if you don't want to. I did and thought it was cool to see the tombs. We also ran into some other group while walking around and got some insider info on some of the people in the tombs. We had 10 minutes to explore. The other stop is at city park and a little cafe where you can get beignets. Rick said we had 10 minutes but it seemed more like 20 or 25 minutes. The beignets were great but the people inside (Morning Call I think is the name) were a bit rude. We went to the counter for takeout service and they kept asking us to sit. It was annoying. The beignets were great and priced well, too. We ran into a bit of traffic half way through the tour so Rick had to improvise. We wouldn't have even known if he had not said that because he still provided great and consistent knowledge throughout the tour. The buses are pretty comfortable and definitely good for the random rain storms we experienced every day there. The front of the bus is really cold and back is more mild. I'm not sure I'd suggest this tour for kids, they might get bored. I had a good experience, however! And I'd definitely consider them for other tours when I return. read more
