Loved this new to me spa which is a 5 minutes from my house! Jalyn was my aesthetician and she was amazing. She has the most gentle touch and my facial and dermaplaning was great. This spa is on the 8th floor of a vintage building on the Touro Infirmary campus. Parking was on the street. The elevator was to the right as you walk in the door and you go to the top floor. The spa is entire floor and ring the bell to have someone let you in from the elevator lobby. I think this is the 3rd location of this business. Glad they are in my area and that I found them! Booking is online. And was easy but with an extensive questionnaire. The products used are for sale and Jalyn let me know what she used but did not give me a hard sell. The customer service needs a serious overhaul. I found this establishment on Yelp and choose to give the place a try. My appointment was scheduled a day before and no specific instructions regarding location or parking was given. Then at 1:00am the morning of the appt I received a confirmation text. (What an ideal time). On the day of the appt, my grandmother and I arrive and there are no signs or anything signaling a 1st time customer they are located in a plaza which clearly you cannot see from the street. A nice lady come to greet us but then I had to find parking. It was soooo HOT!! By the time I arrived in the building I had to freshen up in the bathroom. On the way walking toward the building there is A man with a dog tied to the bench in the breezeway just barking at everyone as they pass. What a scene on the way to serenity. Once I entered the building my 1st service was waiting on me. No paperwork was completed as a 1st time customer and was asked by the person doing the massage what areas I needed done. She was very pleasant and could tell I was FURIOUS with the process. She kept apologizing. THE MASSAGE WAS AMAZING!!!! I would recommend her but I am not toooooo fond of the place. Then the FACIAL!!' Absolutely horrible. I sat in a chair where the lady explained what she would be using. No time was my skin discussed. I clearly was not looking for a simple facial but because I set appointment day before I was not able to really understand what is entailed in each facial. Then the facial begins. When it was over no discussion of my skin and was. Told we will see you up front. Massage 1 hour and facial 30 minutes. Well my grandmother had a manicure. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY SHE WAS STILL DRYING AFTER 1.5hrs. After I paid and added $22.00 tip the cashier (same person who did my facial) says before I can even leave she left $22.00. WOW!!! Are you serious? No one even offered the products in the lobby for sale. After my facial my face was soooo dry it was ridiculous. I was not even asked what type of skin do I have. No type of data sheet done. After leaving there are a group of people sitting on a stump cussing, and arguing in the corridor patio area I was like I just spent $200.00 for this. I will never again. My massage was much needed. This was my first visit at this spa. Chantel was my masseuse she was nice. This bus I'm used to going to provide robes and slippers. I didn't receive that at this place. This spa was serene. They provide coffee and tea if you wish to have it. The regular spa at stupidly visit they'll tell you after massages over to be still and drink lots of water. Since I really know what to do afterwards. What if this was my first time getting a massage and I wasn't really sure about the after effects. The side effects afterwards such as dizziness. While waiting in the lobby I witnessed them go over and beyond to please a client who obviously just came there to be mean and ugly. For our anniversary my wife and I came here during our trip to Nola. I went over all the glowing reviews online and they did not disappoint. The place was a little hard to find but look for the Nola organic spa sign in the window of the turo health infirmary. Once we got to their suit we were greeted by their friendly and professional staff. Sounds of waves crashing and calming scents of lavender filled the changing room where we both got our own slippers and robe. I got the man facial and she got the age rejuvenation skin treatment. I'm naturally a cold person so this was an extra bonus. Before beginning the massage Chantel asked if we had any areas of concentration. We told her our problem areas. I had a Mani-Pedi with Courtni today and everything went great. The music was bumpin and it was a really friendly atmosphere. I like that the pedicure setup is a little different from most nail salons. Courtni worked fast, which was great for me having come in during my lunch break, but her speed didn't affect her work at all. She took good care of my feet and hands and was attentive to detail. So, I intended to do this review 2 months ago and just forgot, so don't shoot me, but here goes.... On December 1st my fiancé took me to New Orleans for a special 1 day birthday trip. The only thing I knew was that we were going to New Orleans. After we got our rental car, the first stop he made was at this wonderful salon. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a very stylish and pretty young lady (one of the owners). I do apologize, I don't remember her name. Once we were checked in, and they were ready for us, she escorted us to a different room, which I liked, to get our manicure and pedicure. Yes, I said our, he got one as well. The ambiance was very relaxing. It was neat and clean. They use new, fresh and unopened tools on each client, which I loved. The decor was beautiful also. My manicurist was T, she may spell it different. They asked where we were from and why were we in town. They suggested things for us to do and places to eat. My manicure and pedicure was fantastic and relaxing. She was attentive and professional. I just wish I had more nail for her to work with, lol. If you are in New Orleans, go check out these ladies. I visited NOLA organic spa with a friend for a basic manicure and pedicure. I was very pleased with how clean the pedicure soaking bath was (it always makes me nervous to try new places). I got the "Out with the Old" pedicure which was amazing--Sonjauh soaks your feet in rose petals and chamomile and then proceeds to work her magic while you feel so relaxed you almost fall asleep in the chair. She brings in herbs which she grows in her garden and she rubs your feet w fresh aloe vera plant which is actually quite brilliant--I don't think my feet or cuticles have ever been softer. From the minute you walk into NOLA spa, you feel relaxed and taken care of. Priscilla greeted me at the front desk when I arrived and offered me a glass of wine (uh, yes please!). I was over 20 minutes early to my appointment since I could not check into my hotel until later. The waiting room has a comfy couch and chair. Priscilla brought out nail color options and explained to me which were non-toxic and which were cruelty-free. I selected my pedicure type (cannot remember the name but it had a nice scrub and the water was filled with dried rose petals) and waited to be seen promptly at my appointment time. My pedicure experience itself was definitely one of the best I have had. I treat myself to monthly pedicures and this tops them all. I really wish I lived closer to enjoy this more often. I couldn't decide between 2 or three stars because the pedicure with the herbs was AMAZING! Plus, wine. Yes, ma'am! Here is why it isn't higher though -- This place has the potential to be a REALLY classy joint. The foot soak bowls, the citrus water in the lobby. Minimalistic but artistic decor. Great pedicures! However, there were slight traces of ratchetry afoot (i.e., fast food runs where customers could see/hear, employee sleeping in the hallway, citrus water with no cups, tea choices with no hot water...) Again, the pedicures were sanitary, refreshing, and wonderful. And the ladies who did them for us were sweet, sassy, AND classy. It made me want to support their business even more! (You ladies better get it!!) However, the waxing didn't go so well. The waxer herself was possibly the sweetest person I have ever met. I just wish her skill matched her demeanor. First, it was more painful than it needed to be--and took for...ev...er. She kept making pass after pass, and I could feel the front part of my skull exposed to the elements. Second, I left with almost no eyebrows...I went from Frida K. to 90's chola. Pencil thin. And you know what else was pencil thin? My girl-stache. I get my lip waxed because it can brighten the face, but if you miss a spot, it apparently looks like you have dirt on your lip. Not sexy. Well, she had it pretty dark in the room, and CLEARLY missed the line closest to my lip, leaving me looking John Waters chic (http://media.mlive.com/grpress/entertainment_impact/photo/11590223-large.jpg). Three weeks later, my brows are slowly growing back, but I don't know if I can go back! All in all, if you are looking for an amazing pedicure in a beautiful environment, then this is the place to go. I'm getting married in October and my bridesmaids surprise me with a trip to New Orleans and a visit to this amazing luxury spa. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge proponent of supporting black owned businesses, and I was especially excited to learn that not only is this spa owned by a black entrepreneur but specifically by a black woman! Everything about this establishment is perfection, from the building space, to the music, to the robes and slippers, to the products used. I loved that everything they used on my body was natural, and my skin appreciated it so much! It's been several days, and my face is still as smooth as butter from the facial I received. I also got to enjoy a wonderfully soothing body scrub and massage combo, and every part of my body still feels totally relaxed and soft. I worked with Jamie all day, and she clearly knows what she's doing! I also enjoyed the sounds of the classic jazz being pumped throughout the spa, it truly felt like an oasis. As a special touch, midway through my services, the owner arranged to have a special meal of mashed potatoes and salmon delivered to me and it was probably some of the best food I've ever tasted in my life, what an amazing addition to an already extraordinary experience! Black women clearly know how to care for other people, and that was quite evident in the way my Bridal squad and I were treated during our time there. I've never been to New Orleans before, but this place alone gives me an excuse to come back. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness and their amazing service! Wow. My husband and I were very excited to have pedicures at Nola organic for his birthday. I made an appointment over the phone for 2pm (and gave my credit card information). We walked in at 2pm and it smelled great and we were greeted by a nice receptionist at the door. We sat in the pedicure chairs at 2:10pm. They put water on and told us to put our feet in. After that- I'm not quite sure what they did to our feet. Our feet sat in cold water for the next 35-40 minutes (longer than the actual "treatment" took) and nobody said a word to us. A lady walked in and immediately started on my husband, while I was still waiting trying to figure out what was going on. She didn't speak to him at all until she apologized for poking his foot. I then waited until 3:07pm to have my water hot again. My husband was done with his "treatment" (which was basic cutical cutting and some lotion) and I had just begun. At that point, I was so frustrated I told the tech to just let me go because I didn't want him to wait for me (ON HIS BIRTHDAY). She finished cutting my cuticles and I put my sandals on. I spent $77 dollars on sitting in cold water for over an hour. This was the biggest let down and waste of time and money, especially on a special day that I wanted to enjoy with my partner. I left so upset that I called the place from the car and spoke with a manager, who proceeeed to basically argue with me about my service. She told me she would call me back after she spoke with her technicians. How unprofessional is that to put your employees before the customer! We didn't feel taken care of what so ever and it was an extremely negative experience, to which I wanted my money back and apology. None of this was handled correctly. A manager called me back and said I arrive "a couple minutes late" and I asked her if that was the reason I was waiting in water for 45 minutes and she had nothing to say. She also then said they don't do refunds and if I try to get the money refunded From my bank it won't work because I signed the receipt. HORRIBLE. She was so unprofessional and I felt more stressed when I left than before!!!! One woman didn't even know what she was doing (she had to ask my technician about his feet) and they both looked like they didn't like their jobs(which is fine, but don't bring that energy onto your customers) I am extremely disappointed and unfortunately will never be returning again.
