New Orleans is hot, even into September, and we walked a lot. So on our last full day in town, we were hot, sweaty, and tired. When we got off of the riverboat, we searched for a nearby pedicure and saw good things about RIverside Day Spa. It's a small salon, 2 manicure tables, and maybe 4 pedicure chairs, and a little older, but the services are what we are focused on! We were able to book for 3 of the $55 mani/pedi special about 90 minutes out. The techs let us know that there were only 2 people at the salon, but were able to rotate between us and we all felt pampered. They had the nice massage chairs, and the techs were efficient. There are a lot of add on services, and they did push full massages a lot, both during booking and after we arrived, and there were upcharges for gel and gel soak off, which is standard, but my total was closer to $80 than $55. Overall, this was a nice end to our vacation! read more

My daughter and I went in for a blow dry. We specifically asked for brunch curls. The woman said she would do it her way but all she did was dry our hair, there was no styling involved at all. When I insisted, she took an iron and ran it through a few strands. The entire back of the head had no style at all. She actually tried to charge us $65 per person. We ended up negotiating down to $50 per person but this was something we could have done better in our hotel room. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

Went there while visiting New Orleans for the first time. Desperately needed a manicure (gel) and a massage. I have a very bad back so I am always skeptical and critical of going to a new massage therapist. The manicure was fine. It was just your basic red gel manicure. The manicurist was nice and pleasant. Than I was escorted upstairs (elevator) for the massage. I met with Julie who was amazing. I told her where the pain and stiffness was and she worked her magic. Wish she was in New York. I needed to get pedicure done before a wedding tonight. Everywhere else I called require reservation and deposit down, most of the places also cannot fit me in until later. I called riverside day spa & nails and they were able to fit me in right away. The customer service is great and the place is clean. The pedicure itself is pretty good. My only feedback is I wish they asked more about what shape or how short I want my nails to be. This place also offer massage and it looks legit. I wish I have time to get some massages done. Maybe next time when I'm in New Orleans, I will come back for massage. Anyway, I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking to get nails done. read more

Jay literally broke my rib during my massage. It's 5 days later and I am still in immense pain. after saying I wanted medium pressure and no cracking at all, he literally leaned his full body weight on the front of my chest. I felt and heard a crack. I am a small, 110-pound girl. I just came in for a normal massage after a day of flying. do not go here. He also didn't shut up the entire hour. he mentioned how other girls have complained about how he's not a good masseuse. Try another career, buddy. Super creepy vibes. read more

My fiancé booked me a massage and mani/pedi here for my birthday. The massage was good, but the manicure and pedicure left much to be desired. They kept trying to upsell me, and after everything the results aren't great. My nails are cut slanted, the polish has ripples and is on my skin more than my nails - half of each of my nails has no paint on it at all. Overall not worth the $134 plus tip. This location is not the most appealing, but the location is centrally located and easy to find in the French Quarter. My spouse and I, both, got mani/pedi. The customer service was good, but I felt very rushed the entire time. My spouse mani/pedi was okay, but overpriced for the end result. They rush the service and charge a premium price. My spouses chair massager was broken, mine kept stopping after 5 mins and required being turned off/on to work again. The staff were very friendly, kind, and accommodating but unfortunately my gel manicure was a little sloppy at the cuticle and doesn't look very professional. I've done neater manicures at home to be honest. Ok, I love this place! They always do an amazing job on whatever service I need. The nail techs are really good at what they do, are friendly and professional. The owner does my hair, is always pleasant, does a great job and is very gentle/ kind when she lets me know its time for a trim. :) The massages are fabulous. Yes I go to Riverside for pretty much all of my spa needs. Their prices are very reasonable and worth every penny. Even if they are busy they will do their best to fit you in when you need. Aloof service and average work. Stopped in to get my eyebrows done and I was grateful they were able to take me. They don't really have the facility for eyebrows, though. I really prefer threading, but there weren't really any walkable threading salons, so waxing it was..... They put me in a chair with wheels, which inevitably spun and moved around, which isn't really good when you're doing precision work. There is also no place for your head to rest, so my neck was at a super awkward angle, falling off the edge of the chair. It was also warm and stuffy inside. I was very uncomfortable and the chair wouldn't stay still while she was waxing me. Inevitably, my moving leg knocked something off another table and I apologized and tried to pick it up and the lady was NOT happy. "Don't touch it! I'll get it!" she snapped. She glared at me and spun me back aground. Geez. I would not recommend coming here. I tipped her 20%, but now I'm thinking I shouldn't have even bothered. read more

1st time getting a Pedicure so it was interesting. They had the color I wanted for nail polish so that was a plus. They were nice at first. They did not shape my toes and my finger nails how I wanted exactly. They didn't have a matte finish that I wanted for my nails and I don't do gel so I had to deal with the regular shiny green I picked even though I really wanted a matte finish for my vacation. When the guy was going to start on my nails he asked if I would like to pay now because I don't want to ruin my nails after they are done so it made sense I agreed gave him my card and as he charged me the $45 for the mani pedi the lady running the phones and desk who I could only assume was the owner asked me (because it was an Apple Card they haven't dealt with it yet) "you can give a tip with that just like any other credit card right" insinuating that I should leave a tip which is a faux pa for me. I don't tip unless at the end of the service I'm completely satisfied and believe me I wasn't but I wasn't going to let this ruin my vacation. Popped in here on Friday afternoon for a mani-pedi and they were able to fit me right in. The woman who did my nails, who I believe was the owner, did a phenomenal French gel manicure. They offer mani-pedi for $50, and gel was an extra $20, which I thought were very fair prices considering how great my nails turned out. I know the nails are different lengths - I asked her to keep the length where she could, rather than file them all down to match, so that's not a reflection of her skill. The result is a very natural and beautiful French. A different girl did my pedicure and it turned out OK. Everyone was super kind and welcoming and the salon is very clean. read more

Where do I begin! When I initially went to Riverside Day Spa & Nails it was to fix my nails from a previous nail shop where I lived. When we arrived to NOLA I took a chance and stopped by Riverside. Hoa made time for me though I was a walk-in and was very helpful with fixing my nails. She gave me the best option to ensure I was satisfied with what she thought was best to do. My nails came out perfect! 3 months later we came back to NOLA to celebrate NYE and my husband and I decided to do couples massages. The experience was amazing! I have been going to Hoa at Riverside for over 10 years, and it's always a treat. Hoa always is able to understand what I'm looking for when getting my hair colored - whether it's lighter or darker - she always gets it right. Not to mention she has a positive and caring attitude that makes any visit to Riverside a pleasant one. When I do get my nails done, I am always super happy with the results. The nail techs are also super sweet and leave me feeling satisfied and in a great mood when I am done. I recently relocated to CA but every time I visit my family in New Orleans I try to get an appointment with Hoa, and she is always able to fit me in, even if it is last minute. My experience was just ok. The pedi was done fast, especially the massage portion of it. I asked for clear "gel" nails and got clear nail polish. I didn't correct her, because I was just over it. I had been to this salon a few years ago and had a good experience so I went back. A natural powder was $45 which is about $10 more than anywhere else in the area but since I had a positive experience last time (with gel) I decided to go back with my friend. First of all, none of the powders have samples to show you the color. We asked them to help us get the color we were aiming for but they told us it was not possible to tell the color based on the powder. They also told us once the polish was done it was permanent and they wouldn't be able to fix it. They rushed us to pick our colors when we were already concerned about not liking them since we didn't know what they'd look like on. My friend ended up get a "natural pink" and was left with a terribly chunky clear color. Her technician clearly knew it was done poorly but covered it with 3 layers of clear gel on top of the 3 layers of powder they had already done. Her nails were so thick and the color was clear with chunks of powder. Once finished, she was very upset with the job and when she voiced her concerns, she was told that it was the "glitter" in the powder. The powder was clearly not glittery especially since it was called "natural pink". She was overcharged for a removal of nail polish even though she didn't have any nail polish removed. While she was waiting for me to finish she asked to just have the polish removed and even offered to pay for it. They said they'd fix the issue even though 3 workers said there was nothing wrong. They then shaved down her nails and made her bleed on 4 nails. The polish was still very thick even after they fixed it because their "fix" was to put 2 more layers of gel. As far as mine, I liked the color but they made me bleed on 2 nails which is a pet peeve. At the end, they wanted to put a coat of gel on top but I'm against gel because I don't like when it chips at the bottoms and gets caught in my hair. I asked that they just cover it with a clear coat like my salon at home and she said that's not their protocol and insisted I get the clear gel. Apprehensively, I got gel on top and they put 2 layers on making them thick as well. I'm now a week out and my nails are chipped at the end from how thick the layers are and the gel peeling on the bottom. Their solution was to give each of us an $8 discount. Since they already overcharged my friend, her discount was only $3 and mine was $8 which isn't even the baseline price of the other salons in the area. I can't speak for their other services but if you're looking for a powder on natural nails, I'd highly recommend you find another salon in the area. I just wish they were honest in the beginning about not being comfortable in performing this service or that they'd owned up to their mistake when our concerns were brought to their attention.
