Lucky for both of us, Nola Rock Co. and Papier Plume are just a few doors down from each other. We wandered in and David immediately started chatting with one of the store employees regarding various fascinating parts of the inventory. Nola Rock is quite a stunning place to walk through and we all enjoyed our time here. As it turns out, David is more of a natural rock guy vs. stones that are cut. Hands down the most gorgeous store in New Orleans! An absolute must visit for your choice at a beautiful gift for yourself or someone else. I loved just being in here. The energy is like magic and when the breeze flows through their open store front there are very few other places you'd rather be (than perhaps in a bar with a drink in hand or covered in powdered sugar eating a beignet, but really very few other places than that ;) They have an exceptionally stunning selection of treasures to choose from. My mom and I both picked out rings that I for one have received a ton of compliments on. My sister and I selected a couple of crystals. I love my items from here. As you come inside you get the feeling of how the owner values her shop & the presentation of the gorgeous carved rocks kept us starring in well...WOW. I thought, If only I could afford some of the uniquely & artistic creations. When i suddenly needed to use the restroom, I asked & was allowed to use theirs, even before purchasing anything. I mention this because another place was willing to watch me have an accident on the spot. Nola Rock Co. has some beautiful pieces and I did something very out of character and treated myself to $30 amethyst earrings which immediately became my favorites. Until one fell out of its setting 5 months later. I thought I had the setting and was going to super glue it back together but got home and realized the setting wasn't in my purse which I admit was totally my fault. Nola Rock had no option available for repairs and couldn't even offer me a match for half price or anything so I just left my former favorite earrings behind at the desk since it would have depressed me to throw them away myself. They have beautiful offerings but the next time I drop $30 on a pair of earrings it will be with a local craftsperson who can guarantee his or her work and offer repairs if necessary. read more

Visited this little gem on my vacation to NOLA Oct. 2018. I must admit, I fell in love. The front of the store has like a glass garage door that was up. Sage was burning, there was mellow music, great vibes and enough crystals for you to want to go broke. The staff was friendly, patient and kind. She answered all my questions and didn't rush me despite there being others in the store as well. I bought way more than below and even some gifts for others. Love this store! Went to Nola for Mardi Gras and came across this super cute crystal store above the French quarter. It has a huge assortment of gem stones - in tumbled variety and also for display and healing purposes. The jewelry pieces are quite unique and affordable for the quality they have. I ended up buying a pyrite ring and tumbled stone after I had left Nola already. Communication and shipping was quick and efficient. Lovely store, horrible personnel. When I entered the store the clerk was speaking to a younger boy whom she obviously knew. She saw me come in and said not a word. No hello, how may I help you, is there anything in particular you were looking for. I walked around looking at the crystals, which were actually quite nice, and still nothing. The awkwardness only increased when the younger boy left and it was just her and I. Well, I thought perhaps she had been so engrossed in her conversation with this boy that she didn't have the capacity to also engage with me. Surely now that he's gone this should free up those constraints. Nope. I continued to peruse the store and she continued to completely ignore me. It was at that point that I left. Quite disappointing as there were a few items that looked interesting and I came to this particular store wanting to buy some crystals to commemorate the trip. For the record, I will never patron a business that doesn't value me enough as a customer to at Ieast acknowledge my presence. There is no level of quality or affordability that can overcome deplorable customer service. Contrary to the old saying, product does not sell itself. You actually have to do some work. I don't know the woman's name (I mean how could I), but for reference I went to the store on Tuesday evening (9/25/18) close to 7pm. I know there are some crystals that are used for good energy. Maybe you should gift some of those crystals to that employee to help her improve her attitude. read more

Not very friendly and seemed annoyed that I asked if they carried any enhydro quartz (quartz that have a moving bubble or water trapped within the rock) she had no idea what I was talking about! Apparently this store just hires people to sell merchandise and aren't very informed. As the clerk pointed to a basket of random quartz she rolled her eyes and said to the person next to her, another one of those! Enhydro wouldn't be in a basket of random quartz's if the store really knew anything at all about crystals. Selection overall was sparse was very basic, and with the rude employees won't be going back on our next trip to New Orleans! read more

I came upon NOLA Rock Co randomly and by chance. I saw it from across the street and my boyfriend asked if I wanted to check it out. I was amazed when we went inside. It was absolutely beautiful in there. They have a gorgeous set up and some stunning jewelry pieces. I looked around for a bit and snapped some photos since I knew people back home would love the shop. I ended up grabbing a business card and told the nice, knowledgeable man that I'd be back! I did come back but I went to their other location. Yes, there are two locations! They both carry similar items. The photos are from this shop in particular. Upon visiting the other shop on Decatur, I purchased a worry stone and clear crystal quartz as a gift for a friend. When I was in the Decatur shop, the staff were also extremely helpful and answered everyone in the shop's questions. While this review is for the Royal St location, I want to point out that both shop staff were very nice and knowledgeable. Both shops have items priced the same way and have similar items; there are little differences here and there but overall, the shop is wonderful and charming. Side note: the Decatur location has a small rocks and crystals table that has smaller stones for decent prices! I didn't see that at this location. But in all seriousness: both shops and all staff were amazing. I can't wait to make some purchases online in the future! read more
