Not surprised they only got 21/2 stars. i cancelled my service. they owed me $100.80. It's been over 2 months now, and still no refund. Took them 3 months to pick up their tanks. So that's 5 months in total. Isn't it funny how checks always seem to go missing when it's a refund? They told me to basically go take a hike, literally. Plenty of other suppliers that don't tack on extra charges, which makes Nolan's service more expensive, hence why I changed to Tank Farm. Turns out they are Cowboys, and I doubt I will see my refund without going to small claims court for it. read more

I had a great experience working with Nolan Propane on my heating and air conditioning system. I received several estimates before making a decision, and Nolan came in with the best plan to heat and cool my home. Their approach made sense, the pricing was fair, and I felt confident moving forward with them. Jack was excellent to work with from start to finish--knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to talk to. Ron, Mike and Ralph were terrific and went above and beyond. They were professional, hardworking, and took pride in doing the job right. I also really appreciated that the owner reached out personally to make sure I was satisfied. That kind of follow-up says a lot. Had a propane leak while I was gone for the winter. The house was winterized. Everything was shut off. Without my knowledge they continued to fill the tank for 4 months ( unused, until I returned to my home and noticed the leak spewing out gas ). No refund, discount, replaced the tank and shut off my tank awaiting payment ). Paid $4,500. Still did not turn it back on and single handily ruined a small business using bully tactics just as we opened. I don't remember the one guy on the fields name but they are thugs. The office ladies are sweet. Working on a larger project and will never use again. read more

I had my entire heating/cooling system replaced last week by Nolan Propane. They were all great from start to finish! They took their time reviewing where the tank and compressor would go and thought everything through before they started. Steven and Joe were extremely polite and helpful in explaining everything. I have been waiting for a refund from Nolan Propane since our tanks were picked up in September. After a quick search on the Better Business Bureau's website, I see that there are several complaints about Nolan's not issuing refunds without significant time consuming effort on the part of the person owed the refund. I have reached out multiple times via phone, email and social media with zero response from the company. They even tried to charge me $75/tank to pick up their tanks. They acted like they did me a favor by not charging me a fee to pick up their property.Terrible customer service!! I would steer clear of this company at all costs. read more

Nolan has "accidentally" overcharged me many times over the past couple of years. They do NOT honour deals. They are basically dishonest.

I bought a house in Delaware County which had Nolan tanks so I called to switch the name on the acct. They wanted excessive information in my view so I told them instead to take the tanks, which were 80% full. I was told they charge a fee per tank to remove and I'd be rebated the difference which was $147. It's a year and a half later and I'm still waiting for my refund which I called repeatedly to receive. I was told 1. the accountant isn't in, I'll give him the message. 2. the accountant isn't in, I'll give him the message. 3. the accountant isn't in, I'll give him the message. 4. we don't give refunds. Have had serious issues with them over the last couple of years, they calculate their prices very strangely and are worse than credit card companies. IF you owe them money and have a card on file, they will just take what they want. My family is also a HEAP family and we've fallen on some hard times over the last 2 years (house fire and a roof collapse) they do not care, husband called and they said that they will not deliver even if we are approved for HEAP because we owe them $250. Pretty sure that is illegal! The BBB needs to look into this company STAT!! read more

I have been a customer of Nolan Propane & Sons for going on 20 years. I've never had an "emergency" until today. No hot water! I called and actually spoke to the owner and he said they would be there later today. They pulled in the driveway around 6:00 and took care of the issue. Where do I begin... let's start with extremely unsatisfied. I have been charged automatically FOUR TIMES after REPEATEDLY calling and telling them to not save my card information. Ive had to battle them and my bank after they've overdrafted my account twice because they refused to listen to their customers. On top of that, their pricing seems to be random! I received a bill of $221 after being filled up from roughly 25% to 100% and other times I would receive a bill of $300+ for a fill up when I was at 30-40%! And this is within a couple months span so it has nothing to do with fuel prices. They randomly fill up my tanks after they were told I do NOT want automatic refills. It's obvious to me this company does not give a shi* about their customers. All about the dollar eh? SWITCHED TO FIRST FUEL! read more

Two of the best service technicians we have ever met. They were neat, polite, and knowledgeable. They answered our questions clearly. We have never had propane fueled appliances and they converted our new stove from natural gas to propane explaining what was needed and why. Crooks. I use my propane for my fireplace, clothes dryer, stove, pool, and bbq. My neighbors use theirs for just a fireplace. On my most recent shipment, I paid $4.49 per gallon vs. the $2.25 that my neighbor paid on a recent refill. I call to cancel just now and customer service just enters the paperwork and is about to hang up without even asking my why, I couldn't believe it! Well I moved into my apartment on April 1st and my tank was at 45% from Last Tenant that lived here .when I called to have them switch my account ,they made me pay $125 to switch the account which I thought was kind of ridiculous. But onto today which is June 18th .I called to have them fill it up a few days ago and they told me it would be here on Monday. and I had to pay a hundred and fifty now.. a hundred 50 next month. which sounded great .but they did not come on Monday, and when I call them Monday morning he said they were coming. when they did not show up, I called them back and they told me they were coming Tuesday .so I really can't say it's the best review .but I can't say it's the worst .I'm really hoping for better service in future.! read more

I've been with this company for over 30 years. In the last few years the employees have been so rude. In the early years I never ran out of gas and now I run out all the time. This is with auto delivery. Also, billing was never an issue as long as you sent money to them regularly. This company does not treat it's customers as family! Especially the ones that have been dedicated to them no matter what price they offer. I guess it's time for me to change to a new company!!! read more

We are part time residents of Sleepy Hollow Lake and when we got to our home there was no heat. I called Nolan and within 5-10 minutes the service man was at the door. Thank God it was the batteries in the thermostat, as we always thought it was hardwired like our downstate home. I have been using them for 9 years now and I have no complaints whatsoever. zero stars if it were possible. we had the same experience that Maranda did. total lack of concern for their customers (families!!) even in below zero temperatures. rude employees. regularly missed deliveries even on autodelivery and then charged way more than our locked in price. you'd call and talk to one person and then someone else would call you a few days later as if you never spoke to anyone in the first place. they clearly don't document anything or care at all about your needs or service concerns. the only time you'll be able to talk to management is if you withhold your payment. please please tell people not to use this awful company. there are better local options. read more

WARNING - DO NOT USE NOLAN PROPANE. I only wish I had read all these horrible reviews on Google & Yelp and I have no doubt they are all true. My family experience was beyond horrific and I cannot believe how heartless Robert Nolan is. In December 2017, I received a call from Nolan Propane saying they could not get up our driveway because of the snow (they came right in the middle of a snow storm!) and informed us we were almost out of propane (12%) and will probably run out because they could not get to us for another 4 or so days - important note here - we are on auto delivery. Something also to note - I received this call as I was in the middle of transporting my husband to the Emergency Room for an infection after open heart surgery 2 weeks prior so I called Robert Nolan the owner to help me. Told him my situation and asked him to please address soon so I don't run out. He asked me to get my driveway in order, which I did immediately that afternoon. When I called him from the hospital to make sure all was okay 4 days later - Robert Nolan said he had some bad news - he wouldn't be able to get to our house for another 3-4 days - in which another huge snow storm was expected AND now we were completely out of propane (note - we use propane to HEAT our home!). This was just as my husband was going in for his 2nd open heart procedure in less than 3 weeks. I reminded Robert AGAIN about my situation and my husband's dire state and we got into a shouting match and he said he was going to pull my tank, which he did the next day according to my neighbor (remember I'm still in the hospital at my husband's beside!) Nolan couldn't fill the tank for days, but found the time to pull it from our property! Now in the midst of dealing with my husband life threatening illness, I was now forced to line up another propane company to heat my home. Called Bottini, explained the situation and they were not surprised but were shocked to how low this guy stooped, but immediately came to my aid. Robert Nolan is HEARTLESS to say the least - I will reiterate what another reviewer commented on - he does not care about you or your family. Also, another side note, the tank Nolan installed and then took while I was in the hospital was not properly installed/positioned (too close to a door opening) and put my family at danger. read more

IF there were an option to give zero stars I would...My husband and I have used this propane company for several years. We prepay for the year in advance and are on auto delivery. This year so far (about 2 weeks into the season of even needing heat) our propane completely ran out despite being on auto delivery. Upon calling this office we had to inform them that we were even ON auto delivery. Fast forward to two weeks and today at 9am I woke up to no heat again. It's 20degrees outside and we have a small child at home. A family member asked to borrow my vehicle today and I am literally stuck in this house that is freezing with our young son. He has asthma and when the temperature is cold he struggles....A call was made this morning at 9:30am and no one has arrived. We called back at 11:30 and we were told it would be another 30 minutes by the company owner. It's now been two hours since then with no call/no show. Upon calling a third time we were told 2:30pm the tech "should" be here. This is completely unacceptable. I am thinking we will take our prepaid business elsewhere. These people do not care about you or your family. read more
