Came here for Sunday brunch for the first time. We were seated right away even though the place was busy. The prohibition decor inside was cool - loved it. Our server, Blue was excellent and prompt with our needs. I ordered the shrimp and grits with eggs. Blue advised it was spicy and it definitely is for the average Joe, but it was just right for me. It was delicious! Also had the mimosa with pineapple as well. Everything was on point except the biscuits were not good - they were not fluffy and more on the crispy side. Okay randomly found this place after a day at the Tulsa zoo. The food was amazing. Definitely some of the best creole I can find out of Louisiana. So good that for date night we drove two hours to come back just for their food. Apps Also the garden dip is always a favorite app when we go here now. Entrees Recommend the personal crab boil. They give you in my opinion the perfect ratio of potato, crab shrimp, sausage, and corn. Choose all three seasoning together. You won't regret it. The lobster Mac was good too if you want simple and not as spicy. The crawfish etoufe. It was a little bland but hella spicy. Don't recommend. Desserts For desserts we tried bread pudding, beignets, and the chocolate cake. The bread pudding is like a square block of condensed bread pudding, delicious but those having issues with textures were not a fan. The chocolate cake was super hurt your teeth sweet maybe get a glass of milk to go with it. Beignets were a hit, perfect sweetness level hot and were devoured in minutes. Drinks: Drinks that were ordered were whiskey based. I was not a fan but whiskey drinkers might like. We ordered one cocktail that was more sour than expected and had a strong pour. My husband and I didn't like the food. We left nearly all of it. I ordered a shrimp po' boy with a side of fried green tomatoes. I love shrimp and fried green tomatoes. The shrimp were tiny and the sandwich was covered with a sauce I didn't like. It should have occurred to me that the fried green tomatoes might also be Cajun. We don't like Cajun but thought the sandwiches might not have all the Cajun seasoning. We should have asked. Another lady at the table got the same thing and she didn't like hers, either. She did ask for ranch dressing for the fried green tomatoes. I followed suite. It did make the tomato's easier to eat but they still were not good. We only got 3 slices each and didn't finish them. I left almost all of my sandwich. I broke off a piece of the bread hoping it might be a good rich bread that I could nibble on. No luck. My husband ordered crawfish étouffée. He said it wasn't warm and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp too long. It was also salty and he has to watch his sodium. He left nearly all of it. One couple ordered voodoo chicken and smashed potatoes. They liked it and ate it all. One person got a chicken sandwich that he said was good. The 2 children got hamburgers and Mac and cheese. They loved the Mac and cheese but barely ate any of the burgers. Their grandmother took a bite of one of the burgers and said it was good. She took the burgers home for the kids. They put the gratuity on the check without telling us. My husband was about to add a gratuity but his sister noticed it was already added and stopped him. They charged us to use a credit card. Dinner on a Monday night with an out of town guest who is a Cajun fanatic. He deemed the shrimp and grits just spicy enough. I enjoyed the Voodoo Chicken and would order it again. I loved the green beans and the smashed red potatoes that I ordered as sides. The Po' Boy was gargantuan. The Apricot With Your Pants down was a delicious cocktail. I met my mother and her friend here for lunch, and really talked the place up because neither of them had ever been here. I spoke of the ambience and the service, both being exceptional. I also raved about the food. Unfortunately, I was terribly disappointed and embarrassed that I recommended. We dying here for lunch because while the ambience is intact, the service was less than expected, and the food fell far short of my experience the last time I was here. If you're going to serve crabcakes, they need to be fresh. Don't ever put prefab, frozen crap on a menu for a restaurant that wants to be taken seriously. Management should be ashamed! I ended up here by researching the top 10 romantic places to have dinner on Valentine's night in Tulsa. It was a great disappointment. We had another couple literally 4' from us sharing the same bench seat. Across the room was a church ladies group that was causing a lot of commotion with their Valentines version of Dirty Santa. Now as far as the food was concerned, it wasn't the best that I had ever had, but it was definitely good. We had to wait awhile on our entrees , but they were hot and fresh which is definitely a great start. I expected more flavor being a Cajun restaurant, but it was edible for sure. Just bring along your own container of Slap Ya Mama The waitress was very friendly and done a great job. I think her name was Kristiana. Stumbled across this spot while searching for a fun place to take my son and a few of his friends during parents weekend--he's in college--and it turned out to be a great find. The service was fantastic, the drinks were on point, and the food was incredible. We tried a little bit of everything: alligator, crawfish, pork chop, voodoo chicken, sandwiches, gumbo, and dessert--and every single dish delivered. The cocktails were consistently excellent across the board as well. Overall, we had a really great experience and couldn't have been happier. This was my second visit to Nola's -- I loved it so much the first time that I came back to celebrate my birthday. The food was absolutely delicious! The fried platter was cooked to perfection, with dippers that were both unique and flavorful. I enjoyed my favorite drink, absinthe served à la louche, along with a creole classic: a muffuletta sandwich with a side of maque choux. My partner had the Cajun St. Claude kebab. Everything was so good we had to take the beignets home to savor later! We ended up at Nolas for a birthday brunch. We ordered a bloody Mary and a mambo Mimosa. The bloody Mary (the first I ever tried) was really good. This one was made with dill pickle vodka and it played really well with the tomato and spice. The mambo Mimosa come with your choice of 2 juices so I chose cranberry and orange. It was light and refreshing. For the meal I decided on the crab cake omelette. The crab cakes were crispy and very flavorful, with a good balance of crab and filler. The omelette was well cooked and the beurre blanc sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The potatoes were coated in Cajun seasoning, which I really enjoyed. The meal was delicious. If there was any downside it would be how dark the restaurant is. I get it's part of the New Orleans ambience, but it was a bit hard to see. read more

The grits were eh, I'm always reminded every time I eat grits that I'm just not a grits person. But the sauce made them edible for me! The lobster Mac was a $5 side up charge and I think just keep to the regular Mac. I understand why there wasn't much lobster but mys well just get the good side still. Holy moly! So glad I got to eat here. Made reservations for 11 on a Sunday and was surprised it wasn't packed yet. My partner had come here once before and was nervous about finding a table. From the moment we entered the space, we were greeted with all lovely employees. The menu is pretty big and made it hard to decide what to get. My partner and I almost ordered three entrees and an appetizer but settled on the crab cakes, Gri gri shrimp with cheese grits and the Satchmo's red beans and ricely. The crab cakes was delicious, you could really taste the crab instead of just filling. I should have asked for a slice of lemon, that would've made it perfect but it was still very good. The Gri Gri shrimp and cheese grits were absolutely incredible. From that first bite of grits, I knew I was going to love this place. It was spicy, cheesy with a bomb of flavor. The juicy large shrimp weren't overcooked and you get a great amount of shrimp for the price. I was lucky enough to also try my partner's Satchmo's red beans and ricely and wow. He substituted it with boudin and I was surprised it was one large link. I believe it came with Nola's potato casserole and the most delicious beans I may have ever had. We also ordered a side of maque choux which also had a bunch of flavor. The service was top notch, from the hostess to our server and food runners. Our party of 4 made reservations to dine here prior to a PAC show. We were very early, but they were gracious and sat us right away. We had all been here before, so the pleasant atmosphere was no surprise with all the NOLA charm, jazz playing in the background and familiar Cajun offerings. The look is very reminiscent of restaurants we have eaten at in New Orleans. Our server was good and but came off almost a little too casual for the other more upscale touches in the restaurant. Nothing inappropriate, just more like a (insert any mid-priced bar and grill chain e.g. Chili's) vibe. They did everything a diner would expect and retrieved extra napkins, hot sauce, etc. requested. Wished they had mentioned servers would help pull shrimp off skewers before required fingers were required to remove (thus the request for extra napkins). My Gumbo was good (loved the flavor of the andouille sausage), but like before, it was already pretty spicey. I love spicey but prefer to add my own flavor. They do have an array of Louisiana hot sauces which I added to suit me. My Jambalaya was just ok. It seemed to lack that Cajun magic. The bread pudding had the right flavor rum sauce, but the texture was a little off. Overall, it was good but made me yearn for a NOLA road trip. read more

I've eaten at Nola's a number of times over the years, but this last visit on Sunday, 24 May was very disappointing. I ordered that Red Snapper on a bed of rice, with a side of green beans. The rice was a film rather than a bed, and it was dry to the point of being crunchy. The green beans were dry, leathery, and actually hard to chew. The fish also was very much dried out. That's not the way to cook or serve a good piece of fish, and it is very far below the standard of my previous meals at Nola's. read more
